I will first of all admit to having a very annoying habit of having a glass of water almost constantly at the side of the couch so I can drink whole feeding ds2. Anyway I am upstairs with DCS, OH downstairs and I hear him shouting 'fucking cunt, what a fucking place to leave a glass of water'..having obviously knocked it. I hate cursing but especially that word. Aibu to be quite disgusted? Little things like this really annoy him.

i yelled 'fucking cunting bastard' yesterday morning after the kitten jumped up on the counter and flipped his food bowl i was filling, sending kibble flying EVERYWHERE all over my kitchen.

some people are just sweary!

GigiB · 08/01/2016 18:18

He swore and the children could have heard, if they repeat that word at school they will get disciplined AND i'm sure you don't want them to use it anywhere.

I don't think you are being oversensitive. I would apologise for putting it in a stupid place but say to him that you don't think he should use that word within earshot of children. (there's no point having a go at him as he might not have realised that they/you could have heard)

BitOutOfPractice · 08/01/2016 18:20

I don't mind swearing but I hope he wasn't calling the OP a fucking cunt which is a whole different story from just shouting "fucking cunt" at he universeas a whole

mikado1 · 08/01/2016 18:20

It was like I said, at end of couch, right alongside it, on the floor. It's not a good habit I know. I think it's worth saying that while he does swear, usually in annoyance/anger, he ----never uses that word and he said it in a really enraged way. He will say he was talking to the glass and I am as sure as I can be that he would have had the same reaction if ds2 had been in the room..he had just joined me. Feels unfair to be called a prods for not liking angry swearing over (imo) a little thing. Quite a split in opinion otherwise. He was f'ing and blinding, again v angrily, the other day because he had to turn back from a walk encase of a downpour. Maybe I'm just overtolerant.. Confused

Yesterday I knocked over my own, ever-present glass of water. I grumbled "Oh, for fuck's sake, Garlic, I am a clumsy twat!"

Point being I reckon I'm the twat for knocking over a glass that is always there, in the same place. Any fule no where the usual obstacles are in their own home.

OP's glass is always there. But H goes "what a fucking place to leave a glass of water", like he'd never seen it before and it's all OP's fault.

So, in this case, he's the twat.

PinkSquash · 08/01/2016 18:21

I get pissed off when I knock over something and I will swear on occasion.
Nothing wrong with using the word cunt.

GarlicBake · 08/01/2016 18:21

Maybe I'm just overtolerant..

Yep. I'd say you are.

FatherRebulahConundrum · 08/01/2016 18:22

Can't believe all the people who think the OP is BU! He calls her a cunt, in a snarling aggressive outburst of temper loud enough to be heard from upstairs, and that's ok? All because of a glass of water? Anyway, OP says she always has glass of water around, so he should have known to watch out for it. Twat.

AliceInUnderpants · 08/01/2016 18:23

But it is a stupid place to leave a glass of water!

Was he calling you a cunt?

GarlicBake · 08/01/2016 18:24

In case it wasn't clear, mikado, you're over-tolerant of foul-tempered arseholes.

BearFeet · 08/01/2016 18:26

He sounds like the cunt to me.

Wombatinabathhat · 08/01/2016 18:27

snarling and aggressive
Where does the OP say that? Confused

Figwin · 08/01/2016 18:27

She never said he was "snarling".

Did he ever ask you to move the glass or not leave it there before?

Bogeyface · 08/01/2016 18:27

Sounds like it was the last straw to me.

I have been known to totally lose it over something utterly inconsequential that on the face of it makes me look like a loon. However, that would follow a day of things just going wrong and it just being the incident that tipped me over from calm and controlled into "FUCK THIS SHIT!!!!!!!"

LadyLuck81 · 08/01/2016 18:28

PinkSquash I'd say there's plenty wrong with using the word cunt within the hearing of children and also if he was referring to his wife/partner. It's wholly inappropriate.

Bubblesinthesummer · 08/01/2016 18:29

intolerant towards you and the cc.

I'may pretty intolerant of glasses being constantly being left where they can be knocked over too.

There is nothing on the OP that talks about him being intolerant of the OP or DC. but hey you make up what you like

Shutthatdoor · 08/01/2016 18:32

Sounds like it was the last straw to me

Me too. OP says he has never said it before.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 08/01/2016 18:35

Keep a bottle of water there. Then it won't matter if it gets knocked over and it doesn't get dust, spiders and other falling debris in it).

But yup he needs to chill the fuck out. But tempers do get very frayed with a lack of sleep.

Asskicker · 08/01/2016 18:36

I hate people leaving glasses or cups on the floor.

I am also quite sweaty if I have had a bad day. I ranted about dh being a dick for unplugging something I wanted to charge.

Along the lines of 'for fucks sake, who the fuck does that' there was no one home.

I wouldn't speak to dh like that. But I had a shit day and having a stressful time of it and I snapped.

The kids have probably heard me swear too.

It really depends on the rest of the relationship. If dh heard me ranting like that, he wouldn't think I was aiming at him. But in general our relationship is good.

Someone ranting like the ops dh wouldn't bother me in itself.

scrumpkin · 08/01/2016 18:39

Your partner calls you a cunt for leaving a glass of water out? I can't believe people think this is ok!

mikado1 · 08/01/2016 18:40

I'm in Ireland, to answer that question!

OP posts:
goodnightdarthvader1 · 08/01/2016 18:40

There's no evidence he was calling OP a cunt. He may have been talking to the water and "cunt" was the first insult that sprung to mind.

Of course if he WAS talking about you, that's completely different.

mikado1 · 08/01/2016 18:43

He will also say he wasn't shouting Hmm

OP posts:
LuluJakey1 · 08/01/2016 18:43

I think it is awful and who else would he be referring to? She left the glass of water. So what if he spilled it? It was water. He needs to get a bit of control and have a bit of respect. A muttered FFS is one thing, this is several steps up from that and is abusive language used to describe his wife.

I would be furious with DH- as well as shocked because I have never been called anything horrible by him (at least not aloud)

ghnocci · 08/01/2016 18:44

I'd be pretty irritated if I knocked over a glass of water somebody had just left on the floor and probably would have sworn too.
