Five Guys Burgers

Went to Bluewater today. Keep hearing how fantastic Five Guys burgers are!
So myself and DS 15 popped in for lunch all excited.
Can honestly say it tasted no better than Burger King except 5 times the price. Would have expected so much better. Anyone else think Five Guys are shit. Apart from GBK where else on the high street is good.

we don't go because of the peanut allergy in our family. its a shame as most burger/junk food places are more of a safe bet.

one of the most dangerous places if you have peanut allergy imo.

enderwoman · 02/01/2016 20:09

I agree with you OP. My local kebab van does a better job than Five Guys.

wasonthelist · 02/01/2016 20:46

Tried for the first time this week - did the all the way. Nice enough, but a bit pricey and nowt special. My favourite is In n Out burger in the US.

DizzyNorthernBird · 02/01/2016 21:02

Ugh. Five Guys. DP nearly had a fit when he bought our family dinner there and it cost £50 quid for a family of four to eat burgers no different to Burger King.

Byron and GBK are much better. Awesome burgers and more of a proper 'diner' feel than five guys, which felt like we were sitting in a shitty service station somewhere.

Scarydinosaurs · 02/01/2016 21:06

Burger and Lobster!

Best burger I've ever eaten. Way better than five guys, shake shack, GBK, Tootsie or any other.

PigeonPie · 02/01/2016 21:10

We prefer Byron to GBK. In fact the DSs had this discussion earlier today with their God Parents that they wouldn't be going to GBK again because Byron's were better (they're 8 and 10 by the way!).

They've got some hope though as it's a very special treat to go there!

I was at Burger and Lobster just before Xmas. Had the half lobster/half burger combo. Was very nice.

If you're ever in SW London - dip n flip. Lovely burgers!
They serve chips with gravy too.

cluecu · 02/01/2016 21:32

Best burger I've ever had was at Almost Famous in Manchester. Think there's one in Liverpool too. AMAZING Grin

iminshock · 02/01/2016 21:41

yanbu
McDonalds every time

Buxtonstill · 02/01/2016 21:54

Bring back Wendy's ! Lovely salad bar, square burgers, jacket potatoes and Mr Frostee!
Agree that Uk versions of chains will be inferior. Have eaten at Bubba Gumps in US and Kuala Lumpur. The U.K. Version is miserable and extremely minge with portions, and it is really really expensive for what it is.

Buxtonstill · 02/01/2016 21:55

mingy Ffs autocorrect...

TooSassy · 02/01/2016 22:18

Patty and bun every time!!! Their burgers are out of this world!!!!

Now I have a craving for a burger!!!!

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 02/01/2016 22:53

Noooooo! Five Guys is my favourite!!

Ahem. YABU. Blush

Emochild · 02/01/2016 23:05

5 guys is massively over rices for a place that serves burgers, wrapped in foil and plonked in a brown paper bag

I was mildly excited at the offer of free peanuts but when I popped the shells they were just dust

At least at McDonald's or Burger King you know what you are getting

never heard of most places on this list so i'm guessing most haven't arrived in Yorkshire yet

19lottie82 · 02/01/2016 23:36

They taste AMAZING! But yes, they are expensive!

19lottie82 · 02/01/2016 23:46

Fluffyears there's been one in Glasgow for almost a year. St Vincent St I think!

We got one in NYC and it wasn't a patch on the Glasgow one!

acsec · 02/01/2016 23:53

We love Five Guys, it's better than GBK. GBK burgers are dry and the buns are crumbly.

Handmade burger co are very good.

BestIsWest · 03/01/2016 00:00

Had one in New York, it was divine and I'm not a lover of burgers. We were directed there by a NYC cop.

Had one elsewhere in the States and one in the UK and totally underwhelmed so YANBU.

Shantotto · 03/01/2016 00:06

GBK are terrible. If you want a chain then Byron is the best.

I love burgers and luckily I'm in London where there are loads of good ones. Honest, Patty and Bun, Lucky Chip, Meat liquor, Burger Bear, Mother flipper, Bleeker Street, Dip and Flip... I'm sure there's more I've forgotten! Burger bear opened a minute away from my flat and I go all the time. So bad.

My absolute favourite though is Almost Famous but they are only up North.

Five guys is really over priced for what it is but the drinks machines are amazing.

CakeNinja · 03/01/2016 00:06

I like five guys. Chips aren't anything special but I like the burgers and they are really filling.

Mmmmcake123 · 03/01/2016 00:07

Underwhelming ime

CakeNinja · 03/01/2016 00:13

I have had a couple of GBKs and been majorly disappointed with them.

Kittypawpuff · 03/01/2016 00:39

GBK in brent cross is like burger king and the service is rubbish. I wouldnt recommend anyone visting that one
