Tali the counselling is so that any issues can be identified.

rosewithoutthorns · 02/01/2016 20:06

right, I've had enough of this twatty back and forth. where no one really cares other than having an argument. Tali good luck and I'm with you.

MizK · 02/01/2016 20:07

??????
This thread took a weird turn. I think that telling people off for having an opinion on a celebrity on a thread specifically about said celeb's looks is pretty lemon sucking and PC....

rosewithoutthorns · 02/01/2016 20:07

I also can't stand the pc shite.

WilburIsSomePig · 02/01/2016 20:07

Just roll your eyes and know it comes from sheer jealousy.

Good lord. Are you 12?

Outaboutnowt · 02/01/2016 20:07

What has PC got to do with this? Confused

It's certainly not jealousy from my end. I think Kylie is very pretty.
However I think she was pretty to begin with and now her face bears no resemblance at all to how she used to look and I think that's quite worrying - and sad - that an 18 year old felt the need (and was allowed) to change everything about her appearance.

TaliZorah · 02/01/2016 20:08

Sooty an assessment maybe but you shouldn't have to have treatment you don't want if you don't need it.

Interestingly they tried to force me to get counselling before my ELCS. I'd already made my decision.

ilovesooty · 02/01/2016 20:10

Sorry Tali but I think if someone is undergoing permanent body changing surgery for cosmetic reasons it's ethical for them to have counselling first.

I see rose isn't going to explain the PC comments.

MistressMerryWeather · 02/01/2016 20:12

A womens right to the birth she chooses and teenage plastic surgery are worlds apart.

This just isn't making sense anymore.

And wtf is with all the PCing?

ilovesooty · 02/01/2016 20:12

By an assessment I'd expect as a minimum some in depth exploration of the patient's motivation for requesting the surgery.

Moonriver1 · 02/01/2016 20:13

It's nothing to do with jealousy or being PC!

This is a young 17 year old girl who has had her lips done, her nose done, fillers, botox and a tit job just to feel she fits in with her family and a huge TV show whose success rests on physical beauty and extreme wealth!

Her mum didn't counsel her to say no, her older sisters didn't counsel her to say no, the show producers and backers will have been salivating over another beautiful Kardashian.

If you have ever seen the show or seen her speak, she is seriously unconfident and insecure and has no-one seeing that or taking her out of the limelight so she can grow as a regular person.

TaliZorah · 02/01/2016 20:13

But if the assessment finds no problems, why counselling sooty? Is it just because you don't like people having it done?

ilovesooty · 02/01/2016 20:13

I mean cosmetic surgery of course. Women can choose the birth they want as far as I'm concerned.

ouryve · 02/01/2016 20:14

YABU to care.

nilbyname · 02/01/2016 20:15

Her positioning into the limelight was not her choice and has been her life from the year dot. Her mother encouraged an older sibling to make and leak a sex tape, so yeah I stand by the word grooming.

Body autonomy is vital, a human right, but me had to wonder about the motivation for jylie to make such drastic changes and for what gain, as outlined by whom. Context is everything.

tali and rose You are both coming across a bit goady. It's not necessary.

ilovesooty · 02/01/2016 20:16

I don't care about people having it done Tali
I just think surgeons shouldn't be going ahead unless they're certain their patient is psychologically competent.

Outaboutnowt · 02/01/2016 20:16

tali ELCS and a boob job, for example are completely different.
But do you not think it is a good thing for a woman to have a session about an ELCS, if that is what she has chosen to have? An in depth, non bias, talk through the procedure, the risks, the after effects to make them fully informed and prepared? Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me.

TaliZorah · 02/01/2016 20:20

Sorry if it sounds goady nil I just find it a bit unfair to slag her off and anyone who has surgery.

Sooty I agree with that, I'm just not sure forcing counselling is the best way

Out I think a discussion with the doctor is good, but I object to being made to go to counselling when I've already researched thoroughly and made my decision. I accept not everyone is as thorough as I am (I spent weeks weighing it up) and I think it should be optional but I don't think you should HAVE to, especially as there's a bias against ELCS

sugar21 · 02/01/2016 20:20

I don't understand why women have treatment to make theîr arses stick out like a ledge. Personally I have skinny lips and a skinny arse and shock horror blonde eyebrows and big norks
I don't want to look in the mirror and see a stranger and I don't want my dd to look like someone she isn't
Where do all these interventions end? Surely as women get a bit older and the South becomes a magnet, more and more surgery is needed añd it must be detremental to the anatomy and the psyche.
Kylie is very young and should embrace the looks she was born with. She is a victim of cloning by money grabbing plastic surgeons who get rich from one very dysfunctional family.

ilovesooty · 02/01/2016 20:28

The trouble is Tali without a thorough exploration of the patient's motivation I don't see how an assessment of psychological competence can be made.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/01/2016 20:35

Kendall is the only attractive sibling in that family.

I suspect Kylie would not have been okayed for the surgery she has had at her age, were she not one of the Kardashians.

Outaboutnowt · 02/01/2016 20:38

I don't know Tali but I suppose doctors can't take it as read that everyone will have thoroughly researched the operation as you did so will try to get everyone to have a counselling session to be sure. It is major abdominal surgery, a lot of people think it is an easy thing to do and recover from.

I do know someone who had an ELCS and regretted it for many years so maybe they are trying to prevent that scenario from occurring.

M48294Y · 02/01/2016 20:39

They are desperate and tragic the whole lot of them. All they have is a pile of money. What an utterly vapid and shallow existence. I cannot begin to imagine how horrific it must be.

Madbengalmum · 02/01/2016 20:44

Kendall is the only attractive one

Scarletforya · 02/01/2016 20:47

Kendall is the best looking. She has the most symmetrical face, best facial proportions, least surgery and best leg:torso ratio. She satisfies the empirical criteria for beauty more than any of her sisters.
