Do not think smearing a soiled nappy on a car is a good idea, or mixing cat poo with milk and pouring it into airvents to get rid of problem parkers, etc etc. It's all gone a bit bizarre round here, and I used to read mn for sane, diverse, funny, wise intelligent opinion. Now my eyes bulge at the majority of posts / advice - people are aggressive and humourless far more often than wise, funny or kind. I'm hoping responses to this thread won't attract too many of those...

Has penis beaker ruined it for us long term posters?

If anyone can direct me to where all the old posters have gone I'd love to know Grin

Sorry, not wanting to make this a taat...

Just thinking about the possibility of actually starting another forum- high traffic, lots of content but without name changing and without being available publicly on search engines reducing possibility of rl identification. With posters owning their own content. Would that even be possible? I'm not terribly technical so just thinking aloud

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 29/12/2015 12:19

MN fatigue Grin

There are many other forums maybe it's time to share yourself about

I have been on here for 9 years Shock and seen many threads over the years saying the exact same thing. Give yourself some space from MM Flowers

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 12:20

There's got to be lots of us who don't like the nastiness and bizarreness, surely?

OP posts:
Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 12:20

What other forums? Genuine question

rainbowstardrops · 29/12/2015 12:22

Part of me feels that you should just ignore the threads that don't interest you (don't we all do that?) but I personally find some posters on here incredibly blunt and downright rude.

Like a pp said, I sometimes start to reply but then think I just can't be arsed with the battle.

TenTinyTadpoles · 29/12/2015 12:22

StillSaying I do that as well, start a reply and then think what's the point and give up on it. Maybe I've been here too long.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 29/12/2015 12:23

Of course I don't like it sometimes I challenge it sometimes I report it (if needs reporting) other times I just ignore it like the parking/nappy stupid thread why bother wasting time responding

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 12:23

queenbean but wouldn't it be nice to have to read all the crap, literally? I'd genuinely like to think if all my posts were read aloud to my children when they are adults, I wouldn't be ashamed of myself... Embarrassed by personal details but not ashamed that I'd been a right prick

OP posts:
Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 12:26

Apparently that is something which may well be possible to future generations wanting to find out more about their parents and grand parents etc- they will be able to access a complete record of internet searches and forum posting Shock

OP posts:
EnthusiasmDisturbed · 29/12/2015 12:27

Google what interests you whatever it is there will be a chat forum for it

PitPatKitKat · 29/12/2015 12:28

E's used to be better back in the day too Xmas Wink

Kaytee1987 · 29/12/2015 12:29

When I read things like that I just assume they're joking? Maybe they're not and that would be mental...

SquirmOfEels · 29/12/2015 12:29

I try to find enjoyment in the inconsistencies!

Smearing shit, OK.

Sweary title about aloe vera, not OK.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 29/12/2015 12:30

Grin I have heard that said so many times I think from around 1994

TwistInMySobriety · 29/12/2015 12:31

Try justthetalk.com

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 12:31

So I just did a Google Search and obvs netmums comes up but the other parenting sites either seem to have no traffic on their forums or totally weird lay outs

OP posts:
Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 12:32

Thank you twist

Yes our children might be able to find out what we posted and see that we are human and at times we are all idiots

But would they really want to Confused

MrsBalustradeLanyard · 29/12/2015 12:32

It's the bloody armchair detectives that bother me the most, taking each thread off on a random tangent.

OP: I went to the shop at 7pm and my baby was grumpy.
Everyone other poster: Well, why? Why couldn't you have waited, or gone earlier, or ordered online, or waited until your husband got home, or started your own shop, or sent the neighbour's child with a fiver inside her glove, or just gone hungry? What's the backstory?

Fuck. OFF.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 29/12/2015 12:33

If anyone can direct me to where all the old posters have gone I'd love to know

Right here.

Stratter5 · 29/12/2015 12:34

But it HAS changed since penis beaker. It's become more saccharine, more LO and hun; it used to be sharp, pithy, and witty. Now I find myself deleting posts instead of posting them, because I know they won't be received in the same way.

PB confirmed the lowest common denominator in MN. Before that, there was more proper debate, more wit and intelligence. Now we are simply a sweary version of NM.

The modding has a hell of a lot to do with it. It was better here when we were allowed to self moderate and tell goady fuckers and trolls to fuck off.

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 12:37

Enthusiasm- if I found my grand mas diary would I read it?! Yes I would.
Mrs - yes I agre and often all th questioning means the op gives far more information than they wanted to, increasing the likelihood of a requested deletion.
Doesn't - Grin

I find "oh MN has got so much worse in the X years since I joined" threads tedious and dull and I've been here virtually forever.

Read the threads you like, ignore the ones you don't and hide the ones you get fed up with. Hide the topics that piss you off the most. Job done.

The bigger a forum gets, the more variety of people there will be on it and the more likely you are to encounter someone whose views/behaviour piss you off.

Greengardenpixie · 29/12/2015 12:38

babyandbump.momtastic.com/

I used to go on here even when i wasnt having anymore children as there is a chat thread.

Greengardenpixie · 29/12/2015 12:39

There is also bounty?

Again, a kind of parenting forum but plenty of other posts too.
