Do not think smearing a soiled nappy on a car is a good idea, or mixing cat poo with milk and pouring it into airvents to get rid of problem parkers, etc etc. It's all gone a bit bizarre round here, and I used to read mn for sane, diverse, funny, wise intelligent opinion. Now my eyes bulge at the majority of posts / advice - people are aggressive and humourless far more often than wise, funny or kind. I'm hoping responses to this thread won't attract too many of those...

Has penis beaker ruined it for us long term posters?

If anyone can direct me to where all the old posters have gone I'd love to know Grin

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 29/12/2015 21:13

yes limited just go with the flow a bit instead of being a bit bitter, or limited. Is any of this harming you?

limitedperiodonly · 29/12/2015 21:18

Are you going for the prize of sparkling wit or clairvoyance MaryZ?

MrsVamos · 29/12/2015 21:20

I'm not a sheeple, I just want the bitty foam !

Christinayangstwistedsista · 29/12/2015 21:23

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 21:35

Winning a prize for clairvoyance?

I just can't see that happening...

MrsVamos · 29/12/2015 21:36

Christina

Not enough, man. Grin

MrsVamos · 29/12/2015 21:37

Well I think Maryz deserves the prize for best pictures. Wink

Someone distract her till I wrestle the glass out of her hand

limitedperiodonly · 29/12/2015 21:37

No. It doesn't harm me at all. Why would it?

I just don't understand it. If you want to change the site, then do it by contributing to threads.

That's what I do. If people don't agree with me I just go away. Which is what I might do on this thread.

Or you can canvass for a new site, which is what the OP seemed to be rather unsubtly doing.

But you don't do it by typing out responses and then deleting them

Or claiming to hide whole topics but constantly contributing to them anyway.

Or talking about the good old days when people were so witty and accepting of other viewpoints without accusing people of being bitter Pannn

Pannn · 29/12/2015 21:49

I'm not sure limited - it's a slightly nostalgic thread, with reason, and a bit of fun in lots of ways. I'd be a bit concerned, as your therapist, that you seem to be over-investing in this stuff, in a self-damaging way.

But getting back to the OP Grin, there does seem to be a demand for another outlet which avoids penis beaker/mouldies/needless swearing/shitty nappies on windscreens type, and a bit more..well. like it used to be ..a bit...mature??

Queenbean · 29/12/2015 21:53

The problem Limited is that many threads move so fast, or are just about a topic where it's about a specific subject where chat isn't appropriate. And then you get all sorts of goady fuckers trolling and just can't be bothered to reply to them and get in to a fight. This would eliminate a lot of that.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 29/12/2015 21:54

Is that Just The Talk board still there that slags MN off? Used to have that bookmarked but lost it in an upgrade.

Kittypawpuff · 29/12/2015 21:54

well other forums in general:
netmums
babycentre
gransnet
yahoo answers

if you are into paranormal scary or weird stuff, reddit
if you are into god and religion, godlikeproductions

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/12/2015 21:55

i dont think mn has changed that much, think been here about 10yrs and always been blondes - cba nor know how to nc

i LOVED PB, was so funny - rem when mn got hacked and no one could get on and there was a classic list of threads, so many i rem, was fab to re read them all

yes some threads are omg at replies and you do need a tough skin to post on aibu, but also when the going gets tough, mn pull together

i still rem almost 5yrs ago when dh died how i was sent a blanket aka woolly hug and was made /wook donated etc by strangers on here - that really touched my heart

netmums is crap and boring, so guess if you want to stay on mn and have nice simple threads then visit chat not aibu

I read the shitty nappies thread and was disgusted that anyone agreed, even if it was a troll.

One of the few things that makes me properly angry about MN is the number of people who think vandalising other people's cars is OK because they disapprove of the owner's parking or driving. And the way they present it in that pathetic faux innocent 'the handles of my pushchair made some nice scratches on their car oh what a shame'.

limitedperiodonly · 29/12/2015 22:04

I'd be a bit concerned, as your therapist, that you seem to be over-investing in this stuff, in a self-damaging way.

What a very peculiar thing to say Pannn

You're right QueenBean but I still think the answer is to engage rather than withdraw and let them have the field.

Within reason.

There is a limit to how much I want to engage.

HanSolo · 30/12/2015 12:47

short sentences Grin

Sorry, I was just having a laugh when I suggested SM was in the clink.

I think MN changed before PB. It started before then, possibly AIBU and the PO really that did it in.

There are lots of perceptive and witty posters here still, it's just harder to distill amusement as they're so thinly spread.
