Do not think smearing a soiled nappy on a car is a good idea, or mixing cat poo with milk and pouring it into airvents to get rid of problem parkers, etc etc. It's all gone a bit bizarre round here, and I used to read mn for sane, diverse, funny, wise intelligent opinion. Now my eyes bulge at the majority of posts / advice - people are aggressive and humourless far more often than wise, funny or kind. I'm hoping responses to this thread won't attract too many of those...

Has penis beaker ruined it for us long term posters?

If anyone can direct me to where all the old posters have gone I'd love to know Grin

Isn't that what's happening on this thread here, now? Regulars who recognise each other, chatting? (Not complaining, btw.)

Kind of, but with all the name changing it can be like walking into a familiar pub and not recognising anyone.

That doesn't really matter in the help topics but with chat, it's nice sometimes to be able to 'recognise' other people.

Also, you can kind of get the measure of them after a while, so you can kind of tell whether they're being intentionally goady/controversial, which often means giving the benefit of doubt.

catfordbetty this is one thread. The idea of a topic where there would be many threads like this on various subjects all running concurrently.

I used to love how on one thread two posters could be tearing each other's hair out but on another they'd be best of mates and admiring one another's bag/lippy/impressive child.

That don't happen no more

See what you can achieve before you start on the gin Worra

I'll go to S S to support your suggestion Xmas Smile

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 16:36

See what you can achieve before you start on the gin Worra

I'm offended.

I normally manage to tip my cornflakes into a bowl and find a spoon before I start on the gin.

That's a wonderful achievement in this house, and a bonus if the bowl and spoon are clean.

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 16:43

Genius idea worra I whole heatedly agree - will pop over to site stuff now

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 16:46

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 16:58

Yes she is.

The judge gave her a few short sentences...

maketheworldgoaway · 29/12/2015 17:00

I love a good swear but am so bored of it being the only contribution

E.g an OP asking for advice about their DP/DM or whatever being a bit annoying or thoughtless (not abusive) and you get lots of:

'Is he/she always a cunt?'

'He/she sounds like a twat. Tell them to fuck off'

'I'd tell the fucker to fuck off to the far side of fuck then fuck off some more'

No actual advice or sympathy, just seems like posters taking an opportunity to swear.

And yes to PP talking about the stopping short of a PA but still unpleasant - again with no actual advice but a one line contribution such as 'your poor children' or the overused 'you sound like hard work'.

Fent0n · 29/12/2015 17:04

'A few short sentences'

That's bloody funny that is Grin

shazzarooney99 · 29/12/2015 17:05

As long as it wasn't Fruit Shoot

If it was, you might have well just gone out and drank it on a bench outside Iceland.

shazzarooney99 · 29/12/2015 17:17

Maryz ive been on the internet 20 odd years if not more and the only site ive ever been banned from was netmums!!!

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 17:21

Grin at a few short sentences and guffaw too

OP posts:
TooOldForGlitter · 29/12/2015 17:24

Catching up and only on page 7 but yes, yes and thrice yes to being told you were a twat. The best part of that was that you'd go and slap yourself about a bit, come back and dive right back in to witty banter with the very person who'd called you a twat. Now it'd be whines of bullying, and 'vile' and 'gang mentality'.

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 17:33

Can we definitely ban the use of the words 'vile' and 'mn royalty'... And while I'm about it I really loathe the expression 'boils my piss' but I could be flexible

OP posts:
magimedi · 29/12/2015 17:36

"Short sentences" - 'tis already my fave joke of 2016.

TooOldForGlitter · 29/12/2015 17:39

Can that godawful 'fuck off to the far side blah blah blah' go in the bin with vile and MN royalty?

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 17:41

Absolutely yes please
I think the site stuff thread needs more support to really get the ball rolling on this [nudge]
