Just had a blazing row with "D"Bro over rinising dishes after washing them.

I went to put a plate I was washing on the drainer and he roared at me for not rinsing it

Confused

Who is the weirdo here?

Because there is all sorts of advice in the U.S. We don't follow here because it's rubbish

GnomePhone · 27/12/2015 18:20

Warm/hot water will get rid of most of the soapy residue with the grime attached to it. Even cold water is better than nothing.

steff13 · 27/12/2015 18:20

The majority of the people on this thread have said they do rinse, and they are not in the US, as far as I'm aware.

steff13 · 27/12/2015 18:21

Nice attitude, btw.

Trills · 27/12/2015 18:22

It's not rinsing AFTER washing them.

It's rinsing as PART OF washing them.

If you have not rinsed, then you have not yet finished washing.

FoxInABox · 27/12/2015 18:22

I rinse and always have done. My DM thinks it's strange and a waste of hot water Hmm

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 27/12/2015 18:22

I still don't think 90sforever gets the emulsifier concept.

Hi5Hello · 27/12/2015 18:23

Of course you rinse, well done to your DB to insist on the very basic washing hygiene

can't believe people still think its ok to eat off plates and bowls which have been sitting in water with waste food, spit and soap...

ChoccyLog · 27/12/2015 18:23

Choccy why don't you post something showing it's unsafe? It's widely sold with no warnings, and we're using it as intended.

Because you were the one who brought up the issue of safety - the bullshit comment- so onus on you.

90sforever · 27/12/2015 18:25

No I didn't choccy posters have been saying since page 1 it's poisonous. Besides, a quick Google shows no evidence it's poison even if ingested directed in a decent amount (in fact according to urban legend a pint of fairy is a great hangover cure. Amazing the crap Google brings up Wink)

Lweji · 27/12/2015 18:26

You're the weirdo and I don't care that I haven't read the thread.

You must rinse everything as part of washing, and to make sure all the dirt and the soap really is washed out. Dishes, clothes and yourself.

Anything else is just yuck.

WilburIsSomePig · 27/12/2015 18:26

Well I rinse but I am genuinely Grin at the amount of people on this thread who are almost apoplectic at the thought of the non rinsers. I don't give a shit what other people do with their dishes as long as they don't kill me when I eat off their 'disgusting' and 'revolting' plates.

Oysterbabe · 27/12/2015 18:26

I rinse and I'm the laziest person I know.

90sforever · 27/12/2015 18:27

What do You Mean -"still" smiliassenseofsnow? I've not interacted with you once, noticed you posting, Or discussed emulsifiers. Patronising much?

WillSomebodyThinkOfStefan · 27/12/2015 18:28

I don't imagine that many people have been poisoned by ingesting diluted washing up liquid, but it is still really disgusting not to rinse.

roundaboutthetown · 27/12/2015 18:29

Not rinsing is just gross. I don't want sticky bubbles of detergent-mixed-with-grease drying all over my cups and plates. Also, I can often taste it when people have done this with their cups and glasses. If you can't taste it, I can only assume that's because you are used to the flavour! Tbh, I think people totally overuse detergent, anyway. Not everything needs to be soaked in the stuff to get it clean enough to eat and drink off. Why unnecessarily ingest chemicals? It's just weird...

So you wash and leave to dry with suds all over?

Lweji · 27/12/2015 18:32

But some people who don't care about how other people wash their dishes care a lot about these threads.

The suds slide off..
Grin They dry on the plates, rather.

unlucky83 · 27/12/2015 18:34

Choccy 'wastes water' - is nothing to do with the fact there is a lot of rain and water around in this country at the moment.
Apart from wasting the energy taken to heat the water - it takes a hell of a lot of energy (and chemicals) to get water to your taps - to make it clean enough to drink, pump it around etc. That is why we should try and save water. The same reason why there are issues with water companies and underground leaks - it will make its way back to the water table -it hasn't disappeared -but the energy taken to make it clean enough to drink for it to just go back to the water table is wasted.
I do rinse but also do try to save water ...so bulk rinse in a bowl (and not flush after every wee, don't water the garden with tap water etc) and I am not on a meter....

90sforever · 27/12/2015 18:34

Completely agree lweji. No one irl gives a shit how anyone washes up

Lweji · 27/12/2015 18:34

Maybe you should start your own outrage thread about how outraged people get? Grin
