Our lovely dil is 7 months pregnant. We are giving them a big cash present to help but want to get her a few nice gifts. Can't do smellies. Ideas anyone?

Why are you posting in AIBU?

TimeToMuskUp · 21/12/2015 22:58

Oh one of those long body pillows if she's not got one. Maybe a voucher for a massage or treatment she can choose at a lovely spa? A nice toiletry bag to take into hospital when baby is due?

Hihohoho1 · 21/12/2015 23:01

Because I have for years ipad

But good to feel back in school with the prefects chik.

Time brilliant thank you.

QueenArseClangers · 21/12/2015 23:04

A nice online supermarket shop of treats?

iPaid · 21/12/2015 23:05

Don't be an arse, OP. You're posting in the wrong section.

SaucyJack · 21/12/2015 23:05

I always wished someone had bought me a coffee cup holder that clips onto the pram handle instead of the usual old shite you get when you have a baby.

BackInTheRealWorld · 21/12/2015 23:07

OMG YOU HAVE POSTED IN THE WRONG SEVTION, EVERYONE RUN FOR COVER THE WORLD WILL END!!!

PurpleDaisies · 21/12/2015 23:07

Waterstones have a beautifully illustrated edition of the Snow Queen (that I'm really hoping my dh will buy me for Christmas). It would make an excellent stocking filler for basically anyone.

BackInTheRealWorld · 21/12/2015 23:08

*section.
Dammit, the typo really undermined my tone!

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 21/12/2015 23:08

Heated hand warmer. To warm cold hands from pushing pram handles?

Or decent gloves, that grip the pram?

Hihohoho1 · 21/12/2015 23:16

Yeah.

Anyway as a mumsnetter since 2008 find some posts hilarious.Wink

I love my dil so that's strange for aibu and my mil was a sweetie too.Grin

Love the spa idea and the pram gloves.

Fluffyears · 21/12/2015 23:19

Pram gloves (leather would work well) and/or the long body pillow to help her sleep.

magoria · 21/12/2015 23:20

YABU for bring a great MIL and loving your DIL! Wink

How about a foot massage and pedicure?

Palomb · 21/12/2015 23:20

I hate the taste of dil.

abbieanders · 21/12/2015 23:22

Huge, comfy, clean, fresh pyjamas or lounge clothes. I would have loved something nice of that kind when I got out from hospital and was exhausted and uncomfortable and feeling worn and grubby.

ghostyslovesheep · 21/12/2015 23:23

who is Dil

PiperChapstick · 21/12/2015 23:27

Are you close to her OP? I say get her some pampering stuff (smellies and slippers) and make a 'babysitting voucher' in with it if that's not too overbearing? I'm sure half on MN will say IABU and that they'd go NC if their MIL did that mind Wink

bookbook · 21/12/2015 23:29

fleecy bedjacket for feeding while sitting up in bed
a hamper of snacks

chillycurtains · 21/12/2015 23:35

I would possibly go with none baby related stuff. Adult colouring books, a couple of fav magazines, dvd she'd like, books, scarf, hat, nice cardigan (that sounds really old when I type it Grin), maybe a long drappy scarf for covering up when/if breastfeeding? Cinema tokens for a trip before the baby arrives.

chillycurtains · 21/12/2015 23:36
  • non (not none)
TimeToMuskUp · 21/12/2015 23:41

Oooh I've just been thinking about this again, what about a box set? Has she seen Game of Thrones? I'd not seen it til I had surgery in November and was off my feet for a few days, 5 series later and I'm a bit obsessed with Jon Snow and his mane of lustrous hair; I have filthy dreams about combing it. I'd have loved a great box set to get through when feeding the DCs at crazy o'clock each evening.

sleeponeday · 21/12/2015 23:43

YABVVVVU. My MIL is awful, even DH can't bear her, and your DIL gets you? That's utterly unreasonable.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/12/2015 23:46

long pillow, oh yes. insulated flask cup thingy... more chance of a hot drink that way.
