Beard loathing

am I the only one who doesn't see the attraction with beards??
OH has, for the second time, grown one and quite frankly, it turns my stomach! It's long and looks like brown pubes! When he eats he often drops food in it. He 'chews' the hairs sometimes-that's how long it is! It's not a tidy-looking beard either.
It grosses be out! So much so that since he's been growing it, I can't bring myself to kiss him! I recoil if he tries!
I love this man so very very much and fancy the pants off him-minus facial furniture! we have 2 gorgeous children too. I want to spend the rest of my life with him... But NOT the beard!
I've tried explaining to him how I feel about it but he's adamant it looks good...
Should I shave him while he sleeps?!

Beards are like Marmite - you either love 'em or loathe 'em.
DH has a v short beard and he looks better with it than without. I don't like long beards at all (luckily neither does he).

Oysterbabe · 07/12/2015 18:46

Happy with a bit of stubble or short beard but massive beards really gross me out, they just look grubby. Yuck!! I wouldn't be putting my lips anywhere near it.

bikingintherain · 07/12/2015 18:47

Did I write the OP? This could me and DH word for word. I don't complain about it, and DH's is grown out of laziness in shaving. However there is a point when I just refuse to kiss, it never lasts more than a day or two after that!

LotsOfShoes · 07/12/2015 21:18

I hate beards too!!! They look so gross!!! And I don't really like a stubble either as it scratches and irritates my skin. Clean shaven look all the way for me.

If you find out what to do, let me know. I am currently married to Santa. I blame the fucking hipsters.

FindoGask · 07/12/2015 21:34

My husband has had a beard forever, long before they were anything like fashionable, and he gets annoyed by how ubiquitous they are too! He hates that people may think he has a fashion-beard.

My own opinion is I like his, because it's very much a part of him and he doesn't look right without one, but generally I'm not that fussed. Most of these young ones look fucking stupid with the big bushy numbers and greasily coiffed hair.

LeaLeander · 07/12/2015 21:35

I dislike the look (though a small percentage of men do look better with them) and hate kissing men with moustaches and beards. It would be close to a deal-breaker for me.

Itjusthappened · 07/12/2015 21:59

I don't feel like I can threaten to leave him over it... We have s home, kids etc so it'd be a tad extreme on my part. So for now, it's just a good old fashioned sex-ban!
Sad

Now this, I could live with. This is a man who suits a beard! I still wouldn't want it rubbed on my face though.
Well, actually... Hmm. Hypocrite, much?!
This is neat, tidy and probably smells of Chanel, not crusty bum holes!

I was 100% anti-beard all my life. Then I met DH who has a close cropped beard and in my eyes looks stunningly handsome, so I stopped caring. In fact, about a year into dating he shaved it off completely and I was horrified! He looks 15 years younger without a beard (and I'm 5 years older than him anyway). Until he grew it back I'd get a shock every morning when I woke up and saw this young teenager in my bed...

LeaLeander · 07/12/2015 22:36

Oh, I didn't mean LTB, I meant dealbreaker in terms of "would strongly quench my attraction to him, if not destroy it completely."

Christina22xx · 07/12/2015 22:40

i like goaties and sideburns (i think their called)

Maudofallhopefulness · 07/12/2015 22:43

No it's hipsters not beards that are unattractive in my mind. A non hipster beard is fine by me, but accompanied by a quiff or man bun or Victorian moustache, bleugh!

spillyobeans · 07/12/2015 22:43

Squoosh - oh no i love it all!!

Titsywoo · 07/12/2015 22:49

I love a beard. Sexy as hell IMO. DH looks crap without one (weak jaw Grin) and he keeps it short and neat. I have never seen food stuck in it but then he doesn't dribble all over his chin when he eats. Nothing like having your neck kissed by a man with a beard. Not stubble though as it is too scratchy Wink. Clean shaven men look too boyish to me now. I like a man with a hairy chest and face who can fix things Grin - yeah yeah very unfeminist of me I know!

Thelonewanderer · 07/12/2015 22:50

My OH has grown a beard and he looks amazing. Although to be fair it's only recently that his hair has come back after chemo Smile

Allofaflumble · 07/12/2015 23:08

Beard Loather here. Always have been.

missymayhemsmum · 07/12/2015 23:19

Mmm beardy men. Gorgeous
with the possible exception of ds who can't quite pull it off yet. bless.
Just a moustache though? eeurgh.

Keeptrudging · 07/12/2015 23:21

I hate beards. They're bloody everywhere just now, I can't wait for this 'trend' to die. Of course it's my DH's choice if he chooses to grow one, but he knows what the repercussions would be. His body, his choice, my body, my choice! Grin

Dowser · 08/12/2015 00:04

Never been a beard fan..my son is sorting one.....yuck!

They don't turn my stomach as much as those ear lobe stretchers.

If a waiter or waitress has them in a cafe...I want to leave.

justmyview · 08/12/2015 00:47

Don't like beards, but wouldn't presume to tell DH how to dress / what to do with his hair, so I live with it, but look forward to clean shaven coming back into fashion

VenusRising · 08/12/2015 01:24

You see, they need a pomade, like Dapper Dan to keep them in check.

I love beards, so long as they are fragrant, soft and groomed.
I detest 'designer' stubble, gives me burn marks.

Man buns are lovely too, so long as they aren't a combover attempt.

I've actually joined the hipsters recently, and have sprouted a lovely black wiry hair on my chin. I never shave my legs or anything when I'm hibernating. The winter coat shearing takes place after Easter.

GreatFuckability · 08/12/2015 02:57

Well. I would. Grin
