Beard loathing

am I the only one who doesn't see the attraction with beards??
OH has, for the second time, grown one and quite frankly, it turns my stomach! It's long and looks like brown pubes! When he eats he often drops food in it. He 'chews' the hairs sometimes-that's how long it is! It's not a tidy-looking beard either.
It grosses be out! So much so that since he's been growing it, I can't bring myself to kiss him! I recoil if he tries!
I love this man so very very much and fancy the pants off him-minus facial furniture! we have 2 gorgeous children too. I want to spend the rest of my life with him... But NOT the beard!
I've tried explaining to him how I feel about it but he's adamant it looks good...
Should I shave him while he sleeps?!

Admit it cosytoaster.........you're aroused.

Itjusthappened · 07/12/2015 16:09

Leg hair- yes
Arm hair- yes
Chest hair- YES!
I can even tolerate bollock hair, as I don't kiss him goodbye in the balls before he goes to work. We save that for a full moon

YANBU

I really don't like beards

I'm glad my DH doesn't either.

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 07/12/2015 16:15

I don't like any beards but the new trend for long beards are utterly ridiculous. The man usually looks he could do with a good scrub.

I never liked beards until DP grew one. I really like his Blush. He cleans it regularly and uses beard oil so it smells nice. I couldn't deal with a whiffy one.

YolandiFuckinVisser · 07/12/2015 16:48

My next door neighbour has one of them hipster beards. It looks like a giant orange brillo pad. It's hideous. I don't know if he has a bun too, he's always wearing his hipster hat when I see him.

Itjusthappened · 07/12/2015 17:00

He has oil!! The idea of a GREASY beard makes me retch!
I don't know if the beard smells bad. I don't get close enough to sniff it!

I hate them too, DH has one, everyone else says it looks great but I hate it - sometimes when I greet men and kiss them hello and they are all smooth, I find myself thinking how lovely smooth skin feels.

OurBlanche · 07/12/2015 17:16

Whilst I appreciate personal autonomy, DH will never grow a beard. If he really wants one he is free to divorce me, sell the house and split all monies.

But I will not live with one.

I couldn't give a monkey's about his feelings, we need to be able to stand the sight of each other if we are to remain as a couple. I hate beards, ergo DH does not have one.

Much the same reasoning was the final decision in my having a tattoo or nose piercing. DH doesn't really like them, I like him looking at me, so I decided not to get either!

That's the kind of compromise you make when you are a couple, isn't it? Don't sweat the small stuff, save the arguments robust discussions for the important stuff.

DH has always had a beard, admittedly it is now a neat goatee which is sexy to me, he once shaved it off after I had complained that I had never seen his chin (married 25 years) .... I didn't notice Blush when he pointed it out my reaction was, 'oh... grow it back' Grin he went into work and all day people were saying ' are you ok, you look a bit pale' etc etc, someone said 'oh xxx has shaved his beard off' everyone else was wtf, xxx had a beard!Shock he has never bothered since. on the other hand DS1 has embraced the hipster luck and has a full on ginger pube face Shock I have bought him beard oil for xmas in the hope it tames it a little, funnily enough the girls seem to love it!

TeaFathers · 07/12/2015 17:53

I don't like beards.
they can look unsanitary and i couldn't imagine kissing a bearded man without wanting to gag.

as a side note - it always springs to my mind that a man with a fulsome growth of beard probably won't want to go down on a woman. and for a gender that's so mind-bendingly obsessed with getting oral sex, i find this somewhat hypocritical.
Grin

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 07/12/2015 18:09

Tea can't see it would make any difference, they would just have a wash after surely.

rubymallorywhite · 07/12/2015 18:11

Beards are this season's mullet...

10-15 years time kids will be looking at pictures of all those lads with beards & pissing theirselves !

Horrendous !

It's the hygiene aspect that mainly freaks me out...

rubymallorywhite · 07/12/2015 18:13

Bald people with massive beards..

Feel like saying "Excuse me sir, you appear to have your head on upsides down..."

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 07/12/2015 18:16

It's the hygiene aspect that mainly freaks me out... surely no different to having a head full of hair if you shower regularly, not everyone dribbles food in it. DS1 always looks clean even though I hate the beard.

Don't kiss people in the hair though do you,

I just don't like it personally & in my head a big bushy beard it would be a bit like Amy Winehouse' beehive.
If you had a good root about you could probably find 10 B&H, tin of special brew, an old pringle, baggy of drugs & the likes.

Stubble yes, beard no!

eurochick · 07/12/2015 18:29

Whenever I see a beard "FACEPUBES!" pops into my head. Vile things.

FourBootz · 07/12/2015 18:31

I LOVE beards!

It's one of the first things I noticed about DP (it's usually the thing that draws my eye to men if I'm honest)

His is very neat and tidy though, I've been trying to get him to Rob Zombie it up a bit but he's having none of it! Grin

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 07/12/2015 18:31

ermm his lips are not hairy Grin and as I said clean although pubey looking, no mouse nests, beer cans, leftover food. less scratchy than stubble actually quite soft when he gives me a hug and a kiss. aww still does even though he's 23 now.

OnADarkDesertHighway · 07/12/2015 18:35

Beards are gross especially big bushy ones. Ain't keen on designer stubble or moustaches too.

Thankfully DP prefers the clean shaven look.

Cookingongas · 07/12/2015 18:40

Lemony- where the jeff are you?!? I'm in sw valleys, and work from ebbw vale back through to Bridgend and the beard is everywhere! NEath in particular is covered in beard. I hit cardiff last week and couldn't see the faces for the beards!

Op- yanbu. Grounds for divorce IMO.
