I work 12 hour shifts and always on my feet. I can't seem to find any shoes that don't make my feet throb by the end of my shift. I fantasise every shift about a magic shoe that won't hurt my feet.... All shift workers know this feeling someone must know the secret..
Recommendations please!!

I've just got some sketchers - they look like black shoes but feel more like trainers on. Lightweight with a good sole. Got them from Amazon for £35. Was sick of paying out loads to clarks etc and still having sore feet!

Lweji · 07/12/2015 08:19

Many I see wear crocs.
Aerosoles are also reportedly very comfy.
Failing that I'd put some insoles for heavy running. I have do it with boots and I was able to walk around comfortably all day in them.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 07/12/2015 08:21

Clarks, the expensive ones with the Orange / brown inners. Think the model is loop, or maybe unloop.

DrewsWife · 07/12/2015 08:21

I wear trainers. Also got insoles at same time which are for plantar fasciitis. They are keeping me on my feet on 12 hour shifts.

shouldnthavesaid · 07/12/2015 08:23

I wouldn't wear crocs, they are horribly uncomfortable ime. I wear skechers memory foam, never had a problem with them and they have washed OK too.

SquinkiesRule · 07/12/2015 08:37

Nothing stops my feet throbbing after 12 hours, I've got clarkes, Fancy insoles, crocs and now I'm wearing sketchers with memory foam inside. All are comfy for about 8 hours then my feet start to throb, it's just the amount of time on your feet and walking that makes the throbbing. A nice foot spa at the end of the day makes them feel a bit better.

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 07/12/2015 08:43

I've been wearing Dr Marten Triumphs since 6pm last night.

My feet still feel awesome.

Rest of me is fucked though.

Fluffy40 · 07/12/2015 08:47

I wear black Merrels, they are pretty comfy and give some ankle support.

Sallystyle · 07/12/2015 08:56

Clarks, the unstructured ones.

I wear work out trainers from primark. It's like walking on air and I get no problems from my horrible bunion.

Freezingwinter · 07/12/2015 09:23

Clarks or crocs, but not the clog style. Crocs do ballet pumps!

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/12/2015 09:27

Second the unstructured Clark's ones (I've got odour-eating insoles in there, too). If they're too expensive then Sports Direct do Karrimoor walking/running trainers that are also comfortable. They're about £25. I've heard different reports about Skechers from my colleagues.

LittleMissAIBU · 07/12/2015 09:29

I work in retail and am on my feet a lot, I work 8 hours rather than 12, but wear M&S boys school shoes Blush (lace up ones) and my feet never ache! They are very comfortable and cost less than £30.

Before that I had some really comfy black slip ons from Clarks, they wear like wearing slippers, so comfy, but I couldn't afford them again when they got a hole in the bottom, as my first pair where in the sale, and I didn't have a spare £60 to replace them, but my current school shoes are just as comfy.

AliceInUnderpants · 07/12/2015 09:31

I don't work, but do suffer from 'tired' feet due to chronic conditions. I live in my skecher's go walk.

manamanah · 07/12/2015 09:31

Sketchers go walk if you need something that looks like black shoes, otherwise the memory foam ones. I'm doing 12 Hr shifts at 32 weeks pregnant and while lots of me hurts it isn't my feet Smile

wulfy1010 · 07/12/2015 09:33

I have to wear steel toed boots but I have insoles which were made specially for my feet via my physiotherapist. But I commented to mention the advice given by my physio, when (if) you have your breaks try and get your feet up high, above your waist level if possible for as long as you can. He said 20 mins but I never have a break that long. It really helps me.

sinber · 07/12/2015 09:37

Skechers Go Walk supersock if you can go casual. I have planter fasciitis (heel pain) and they have given me my life back.

ComposHatComesBack · 07/12/2015 09:43

Long hours (9 plus) standing including outside on concrete (that makes a huge difference)

Clark's soft tread laceup shoes for summer (comfortable but not great for outside in winter) Doc Martens boots for winter (comfy, but heavy and by the end of the day you can feel it)

TheFairyCaravan · 07/12/2015 09:49

DS2 is a student nurse, I spent £95 on a decent pair of shoes from Clarks for him. He said it's like walking on a pillow.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 07/12/2015 09:50

I was wearing Clarks but have just discovered these FitFlops and they have made all the difference on a 13 hour shift. They are not the most attractive of shoes but are so, so comfortable.

Seagullslanding · 07/12/2015 09:50

I'm also in retail, night shift 10 - 7, up and down stool all night stacking shelves. I swear by 'Fit Flop' trainer style shoes, mine are in black leather.

I have wide feet that easily ache if in wrong shoe.

Calaisienne · 07/12/2015 09:53

Tracker boots with composite toe. We all wear them (12hr + shifts), loads of my female colleagues also wear them outside work as well as they are the most comfortable footwear they have. Used to have DMs but these are lighter.

hefzi · 07/12/2015 09:58

I used to work long shifts and be on my feet permanently during them: Dr Martens every time. They take a bit of wearing in, but once you've done that, nothing beats them.

GeraldineFangedVagine · 07/12/2015 10:01

I wear theatre clogs when scrubbing, which are v uncomfortable, but vans slip on when not and they are super comfortable, I look forward to swapping into them every time :)

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 07/12/2015 10:01

I find M&S shoe really comfy
