I work 12 hour shifts and always on my feet. I can't seem to find any shoes that don't make my feet throb by the end of my shift. I fantasise every shift about a magic shoe that won't hurt my feet.... All shift workers know this feeling someone must know the secret..
Recommendations please!!

I agree with Doc Marten's Triumphs - AMAZING shoes. I used to want to cry near the end of my shift but then I got my Docs and my world seemed like a pretty damn nice place. Normal Docs are great too but the Triumphs are just that little bit better (and funkier) imo.

Ecco or Gabor if you need smartish options? Jones Bookmaker stock Gabor

Finn Comfort-I look for ones with cork soles and perforated tops. similar to this but in white.

Fit flop shoes are the most comfortable shoes in the world ever. I am not a shiftworker or anything, but I do walk a lot in them and my feet never ache. I now can't wear anything else, as even flat boots are dreadfully uncomfortable in comparison. Fit flops are not very glamorous, so I spend my life looking a bit stumpy in them, but it's worth it!

GrinAndTonic · 09/12/2015 10:48

I just bought a pair of the new magnum nurse shoes. OMG they are comfy. I used to wear the tactical boots when paramedic-ing and they were instantly comfy. Now I am nursing I wanted something similiar so I had a pair shipped from the UK (they are not available in Australia). They run big so needed an innersole but they are like walking on marshmallows.

Clarks unloop are brilliant . I work 12 hr shifts and do plenty of running around , they are perfect and worth the extra bit of cash.

honeysucklejasmine · 09/12/2015 12:30

Clarks unloop definitely. The only shoes I could wear all day at work and still be able to walk in the evening without agonising pain. The only trouble I had was that they don't look great with skirts, but there are some mary-jane style ones from the same range which are great too.

Cost a fortune (to me) but I wore the Mary Jane ones every working day for two years and they still look very smart.

These are the most similar, but they aren't making the exact ones anymore.

LittleCandle · 09/12/2015 12:49

sketchers Go Walks are brilliant. They weigh nothing, are really comfortable and go in the washing machine. They get me through 9 hours on my feet at the shop.

DaveMinion · 09/12/2015 19:13

I wore crocs on the wards as they were the only shoes that didn't make my feet hurt. Now I have pink crocs (not actual crocs though) as I work in theatres and we are allowed to wear funky colours.

Doilooklikeatourist · 09/12/2015 20:02

I wear the Clarks UN Hazel too , I don't like the look , however they are very comfy , and sorted out my sore and puffy foot very quickly
furious to see they are now half price in the sale

VulcanWoman · 09/12/2015 20:12

I have some soft leather ones from Deichmen, the only shoes I've had that I've not had to break in first, slipper like.

Lovemytent · 09/12/2015 21:16

Another Fit Flop fan here. So comfortable.
I have three pairs of boots, and two pairs of the flip flop style, and a walking sandal trekker pair. Looking to buy some in a shoe style next. Love them !

nitsparty · 09/12/2015 22:51

as soon as it's warm enough Fitflops sandals. havent tried the shoe or boot styles.

notapizzaeater · 09/12/2015 23:05

I have the fit flop boots which love and the sandals. I bought the shoes and they ripped my feet to shreds - hated them, just count some croc ballerina shoes and they are fab . I have pf. Hubby who has RA in his feet swears by b,ack sketchers or Ecco for smart suit wear.

EdmundSlackbladder · 10/12/2015 07:56

Skechers. I work long shifts on my feet with lots of running around and have done for nearly 20 years. Haven't looked back since I bought my first pair 6 years ago. I opt for one of the chunkier style trainers, the slim ones aren't anywhere near as comfortable. They last ages too.

Libitina · 10/12/2015 09:33

No fair! We can only wear black, white or navy ones. Sad

HazelOrBigwig · 10/12/2015 17:06

Don't the socks make your legs sweaty and itchy?!

The sort I have don't, in fact they're quite cool feeling, and thankfully not itchy. The sort I like feel like tights.

BUT, I have had at least one pair in the past that were of a different material, they were more ribbed, and found them to be very uncomfortable. So I think you might have to shop around.

Shoe wise- I totally agree about Skechers- really comfy. I love them.

SheDoneAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 10/12/2015 22:08

I get sore soles of my feet incredibly quickly (I'm a delicate snowflake) but I bought a pair of Doc Marten Indica mary jane shoes and they are AMAZING.

I was fully expecting to have to break the buggers in like you have to with the boots, but nope. It's like walking on bouncy air.

Bodicea · 10/12/2015 22:26

Sketchers shape up shoes. You need a rocker bottom foot so you and putting pressure on one part of your foot (namely the balls of your feet)

serin · 10/12/2015 22:32

All of you who wear skechers and have Plantar fasciitis.....Hmm Do you think the Skechers could be causing it?

Only asking as I suffered for years and it only went away since I stopped wearing the bloody Skechers.

I wear Ecco now.

ThePortlyPinUp · 10/12/2015 22:36

Student nurse here and a good 90% of staff and student I know including me wear Clarks unloops. My feet feel fine after 12 hours, it's just the rest of me that is knackered.

rollonthesummer · 10/12/2015 22:38

What is the siding like on the sketchers everyone is recommending? I tried to try a pair on in a shop recently (in a hurry) and all the display ones seemed to be a size 3??!

notapizzaeater · 10/12/2015 23:07

Funny you should say that Serinm I had PF a few years ago and been ok till I git a pair of go walks this summer, within days it had come back ! Sticking to my fit flops now :-)

IslaMann · 11/12/2015 06:35

My PF was caused by wearing crocs, and cured by wearing Sketchers Go Walks. We are in a new build and the floors are concrete, within 2 weeks of working there my feet were in agony. Switched to sketchers on advice of OH, made a difference almost immediately. I just wear normal socks with mine, but if I wore a dress Id wear trainer socks.
