In a nutshell; poster throws a strop and doesn't like the answers they are getting.

AIBU to think it's a massive cop out?

It's such a pity as in my humble opinion she helped make it a really nice place Flowers

I have no idea what TES is. Sad I was responding to my lecture about people in bad places not behaving as others would.

Ego while I can see the point you're making I think it's utterly unacceptable to claim there are 5 particular posters bullying others regularly while MNHQ do nothing about it.
That's a very specific accusation.

Sparklingbrook · 05/12/2015 15:35

Ever thought why people bring up stuff?

Yes. A lot.

I do agree with Ego, I'm afraid.

Bambambini · 05/12/2015 15:37

I just think when so on seems fragile and upset, sometimes it's better just to back off or step away rather than keep making a point or arguing - whether you are right or not.

Sitting on hands.

Sansoora · 05/12/2015 15:59

Melcombe, you said you were abroad with work. Is it an interesting place you're visiting? Is your hotel nice?

MelcombeBingham · 05/12/2015 16:04

It's ok. I love hotels. The novelty never wears off. I never get why people hate business travel. Lovely flights and free room service. And every Carlton is the same as another.thank you Flowers

Times educational supplement has a forum for teachers.

Sansoora · 05/12/2015 16:15

I love hotels as well, and I kid you not - I went away overnight with my daughter and grandchildren a couple of days ago on the spur of the moment and when I checked us in I was told - we've upgraded you. So off we went in the lift and I noticed the concierge used a card for what I could see was a 'special floor', it just kind of had that feeling about it and lo and behold just two minutes later we were shown into the Presedential Suite! It was so funny and I now know why it happened but what was supposed to just be a night in a hotel at the beach turned into something very different.

Moral of story - never stand and tell your pal where you're going whilst forgetting where her husband worked!

Is there a Christmas market you could go to? I'd love that. I love travelling and never get bored of it even if I end up in a Premier Inn.

What is TES?

Please can someone explain?

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 06/12/2015 14:13

The Times Educational Supplement.
Has forums for teachers. It's MN without the pushchair bits.

ilovesooty · 06/12/2015 15:17

And of course you're not allowed to swear. Hmm

DeoGratias · 06/12/2015 16:05

It generally tends to work best on line if people debate the issues rather than individuals. It's also kinder. It's what I try to do.

Even so there are some issues which deeply divide us like whether women should work, what is best for women in that respect and of course we were deeply divided over the election and more recently the bombing in Syria. If we can debate the issues without mentioning people/posters then it tends to have a gentler effect. Even so it can upset people to express a view like you support bombing in Syria (I am very against it) or whatever the issue is. On some threads are better off avoiding the thread if it's a topic that upsets them.

The thread about whether it was good or bad there were fewer down's children was a difficult one - the whole thread was in essence about abortion and genetic engineering and it was a guest blog and most comments were gentle and exploring the issues but you could see on there that any parent of a down's child could feel very upset indeed that the issue was even being debated.
