Specifically about Ross and Rachel. I just don't think they should have ended up together!

Have just watched most of the series whilst bf my little one and have found myself irrationally irritated by the ending.

When I watched it when I was younger I thought it was so sweet but watching it now he's so childish and selfish. It just doesn't feel right.

Tbh I think Rachel should have ended up with Joey. See link below.

I think Rachel should've ended up with Tag (sp?)... he was lovely, and cool, and happy, and they would've had amazing babies Smile

Ross freaked me out, and I've only just realised he reminds me of my brother (the whiny man child thing) and is also emotionally abusive. That's quite a repulsive combination.

Good to have that cleared up. Thanks OP.

For me the weakest link was Phoebe. Why would they be friends with her? They didn't have much in common with her.... All seemed a bit weird and she never really seemed to 'fit'.

dustarr73 · 02/12/2015 06:44

Yes it was like they need a quirky friend and up pops Phoebe. She didnt really gel with the rest of them.I liked Ross and i liked it when he went a bit nuts, made him more believeable.

Plus Rachael always stole Monicas thunder. She even robbed the baby name.

MadHattersWineParty · 02/12/2015 07:09

But they made Joey a farce and a manchild toward the end.

Ross obviously had to sabotage Rachel's new job opportunity Angry

BoGrainger · 02/12/2015 07:52

Did we ever get to hear what they named the other twin? Erica and ???

CakeNinja · 02/12/2015 07:54

Bo they called him jack.

BoGrainger · 02/12/2015 07:56

Thanks! I watch the re-runs a lot but obviously never closely!

Krampus · 02/12/2015 07:56

I bet they're divorced now.

Enjolrass · 02/12/2015 08:01

It was programmer they were all odd balls. It was funny.

It's not real life or meant to be real life. Ross was always infuriating.

None of them are the sort of people I would pick for my kids.

I do think Rachel should have gone to Paris. But it did make a nice change from the usual 'man realises he loves her so makes a dash to the airport to declare his love'

She chose to come back. But it would have been better if he had turned up in Paris with Emma, if they were going to get back together.

Kids are always an after thought when they are added into a programme like this. I assume that's why they wrote in a nanny for Ross and Rachel. So people assume she was with the nanny when it was convienient

G1veMeStrength · 02/12/2015 08:07

I thought Joey and Chandler were the best relationship. The funniest part ever was Joey on the game show. A GHOST! Also the getting stuck in the cupboard and the living in a box. And I howled at the 'looking out at the rain' when they were living apart.

x2boys · 02/12/2015 08:08

there were many inconsistancies though rachel and monica were supposedly friends from being very young but so were rachel and mindy[who married barry] so were monica and mindy not friends?

MockTheWeek · 02/12/2015 08:12

Ross and Rachel had to get back together. He's her lobster!

Shakey15000 · 02/12/2015 08:13

I love the first part of Monica and Chandler's wedding with the confusion over who's pregnant. Very well done I thought, especially Rachel's face at the end. Poor knocked up Rachel Smile

Though we'd all kill Phoebe for that stunt she plays in the loos.

I hated the monkey episodes. Does anyone think there'll be a catch up? Could name their price I'd have thought!

bumbleymummy · 02/12/2015 08:15

I didn't like the Rachel Joey thing at all.

Also hated that stupid French episode. Loved the Ross and Mike episode :)

SpaghettiBrain · 02/12/2015 09:36

Watching it again I'm also really amused by the clothes- so 90s! Why did we think that looked good?!

Although some of the outfits Rachel wears I think still look nice so I guess she was a classic dresser

OP posts:
x2boys · 02/12/2015 09:38

that was american 90,s i though i wouldnt have worn half of what they wore.

DoreenLethal · 02/12/2015 09:47

I think they had to all end up in the flat for the finale so it really doesn't matter that she got off the sodding plane.

I am still friends with our Pheobe [there was always one] and now [she is several hundred miles away from me now] on facebook she still does the same semi-hysterical fuck-wittery that she always did.

My best good friend at the time used to get the whole season early as one of her friends taped it in the USA and would send it over so we used to have evenings where we would watch 6 in one night together - it was marvellous [at the and of it's time]. Back in the day when the USA got all the TV about 9 months before we did.

It reminds me more of those happy days than anything. Still find it very funny when I catch it on Comedy Central/+1.

gabsdot · 02/12/2015 10:49

I won't have anything bad said about Friends. I have devoted hours, days, probably months of my life watching it and I still watch the re-runs if there's nothing else on. I also have the box set.
I love Chandler. He's so sweet. Ross is very annoying but he belongs with Rachel and I always imagine that they get married and buy a house on the same road as Monica and Chandler and have another baby.

ILikeToClean · 02/12/2015 10:57

Ross and Rachel had to end up together...there would have been public outrage otherwise! As a pp says, he's her lobster!

Loved Friends, reminds me of being young, free and single and now my teen DDs are rewatching, but have to say it should have ended once Monica and Chandler got married. Once Rachel got pregnant it just became ridiculous (where was Emma half the time?!), all the Rachel Joey stuff, Monica became completely shrill and Ross and Phoebe complete parodies of themselves. Seasons 2,3 and 4 were the best but I still cry every time I see the last episode despite slating it!!

KakiFruit · 02/12/2015 11:12

I don't think Ross was abusive at all but he and Rachel weren't a good match. Not when they were in high school and not by Season 10 when she had grown into a completely different person.

HackerFucker22 · 02/12/2015 11:13

People get so irate about Friends.. Ross was an emotional bully, Rachel should never have forgone a job for a man, Phoebe didn't fit it etc..

What we forget is that the very last episode is 12 year old (meaning the first is 22 years old!!)

Also it wasn't real !!!

BumWad · 02/12/2015 11:18

No, no, no! Ross and Rachel were meant to be together! Her and Joey were just awkward and made for uncomfortable watching.

I don't get the Ross hate, he is my favourite.

I will never get bored of Friends!

thunderbird69 · 02/12/2015 11:20

G1vemestrength Joey on the game show is my favourite too. It is one episode that I can clearly remember watching when it was first broadcast and crying with laughter.

I think Phoebe and Mike would be divorced by now, I wasn't convinced by their relationship.

I don't understand why people are so bothered by Emma not appearing in many episodes. Why would you want her in them?

MadHattersWineParty · 02/12/2015 11:23

If you listen to Rachel's voice in the first few episodes, it's at a completely different pitch. All her mannerisms are different too. She is completely different by the end.

I agree with a pp that it got ridiculous when Rachel gave birth. Although j love how easy gibing birth looks on Freinds. Phoebe popped out triplets in a natural birth with very little trouble and hardly any medical intervention.
