Met a nice guy, been out a couple of times but he's called Bruce and it angers me! It makes me cringe and I can't seem to get over it. AIBU to just give up on him over it?

We had a dachshund called Bruce. But he was named after Bruce Forsyth as we love him in our family.

So long as you're not Anthea you'll be just fine.

Higher then the Jack for the car! Good game, good game.

marriednotdead · 30/11/2015 21:19

if you're not going to be able to get past it! you'll have to let him go. But what if he's The One?!

Was chatted up by an Orville once. The surname was dodgy too and as a combo it was horrifying, can't put it here because he must be the only one! DS wet herself laughing when I told her Grin

Bloody iPad likes ! instead of commas...

yorkshapudding · 30/11/2015 21:24

Bruce Willis? Bruce Springsteen? Bruce Wayne? He's in good company. Seriously though, if you really, genuinely liked and fancied someone you wouldn't give a shit what their name was.

katemiddletonsothermum · 30/11/2015 21:24

OP: in RL are you called Sheila?

TheExMotherInLaw · 30/11/2015 21:26

Bruce Lee!
wibble
(actually I know someone actually christened Bruce Lee - he's wonderful)

TheExMotherInLaw · 30/11/2015 21:26

sorry, attack of the 'actually's

YouMakeMyDreams · 30/11/2015 21:30

I wasn't expecting it to be Bruce. I quite like it. Know a couple of Kev's that I like too. And poor dh there is nothing wrong with Martin. I always wanted a Martin of my own because my fiends dh was so fab and I got one. Grin

TheTravellingLemon · 30/11/2015 21:30

It was inevitable that someone would post this picture. I'm just glad it gets to be me for once. Enjoy Wink

Helmetbymidnight · 30/11/2015 21:31

I had a bf once and after I dumped him, my mate said I knew it wouldn't last because you winced every time you said his name.

I fear your aversion to his name is just a symptom of the er bigger problem.

viioletsarentblue · 30/11/2015 21:32

OP, I don't like the name either.
It makes me think of Bruce Jenner.

RusholmeRuffian · 30/11/2015 21:34

Thanks for inadvertently reminding me to order the new Springsteen box set!

winterswan · 30/11/2015 21:34

What's not to like? Grin

I can't get over the fact that he's called Bruce
Bingowingslikeashieldofsteel · 30/11/2015 21:35

I had a date with a chap called Bruce - he was absolutely lovely but blew me out lol If it's the same one you are BVVVU and I'm very, very jealous Grin

DickDewy · 30/11/2015 21:36

It could be worse.

Embrace the awfulness - call him Brucie.

bigbuttons · 30/11/2015 21:39

There's a Bruce in my class. It's a great name. Don't be so shallow.

GreatFuckability · 30/11/2015 21:41

I had a partner who's name was so awful I never called him it once in 5 years. He was lovely though.

viioletsarentblue · 30/11/2015 21:44

I associate the name with old men's names.

Bruce Forsythe and Bruce Jenner being two I can think of.

CakeThat · 30/11/2015 21:45

Bruce Willis...yippee kie yay!

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 30/11/2015 21:46

Is the name Bruce having something of a revival? There's a Bruce in my 6yo Dd's class - I think it's a fab name for a wee boy!

randomcatname · 30/11/2015 22:03

Er hello...BATMAN!

Yseulte · 30/11/2015 22:03

I snogged a boy called Bruce when I was 15 and I had exactly the same reaction.

I'm still embarrassed now.
