Met a nice guy, been out a couple of times but he's called Bruce and it angers me! It makes me cringe and I can't seem to get over it. AIBU to just give up on him over it?

Has he got red hair, about 44???

Don't freak out if the answer is yes.

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 30/11/2015 20:44

Nobody mentioned Bruce Wayne?

(Shakes head .. slinks off)

RiverTam · 30/11/2015 20:48

I knew a very gorgeous Kevin, he was American though so it didn't seen quite so bad Grin. I wouldn't have said 'no' though he fancied my best friend so never got the bloody chance hurumph.

ShellingPeasAgain · 30/11/2015 20:49

Bruce is a good Scottish name, like Murray and Duncan.

I like Bruce for a cat's name. We had a cat called Jock.

Savagebeauty · 30/11/2015 20:50

What's wrong with Kevin??? Grin

ChippyOikInAWowGuna · 30/11/2015 20:52

This thread should be "I met a man and I can't get over the fact that his name is Darren" (or gary).

That'd make more sense.

dementedma · 30/11/2015 20:52

seasidesally · 30/11/2015 20:53

bumbleymummy · 30/11/2015 20:53

I like Bruce :) He sounds manly.

ShellingPeasAgain · 30/11/2015 20:54

Oooh, just remembered I had a boyfriend called Bruce in the 80s. Can't believe I'd forgotten that. .

KurriKurri · 30/11/2015 20:56

My XH was a Bruce, it's a good Scottish name (he was something of a shit, but I don't think his name had anything to do with it)

If you're thinking of ditching someone because you don't like his name, you've got ishoos.

CwtchMeQuick · 30/11/2015 20:56

Every time I saw him id have to shout 'NICE TO SEE YOU, TO SEE YOU...'

watches too much strictly

Lweji · 30/11/2015 20:57

Nobody mentioned Bruce Wayne?

You beat me to it. Grin

I'd just imagine his last name was Wayne (another, erm, great name) and that he fought evil at night. I might even get a black night time Selina outfit and would have great fun fighting each other.

Helmetbymidnight · 30/11/2015 20:59

Bruce Springsteen?

Doesn't get much better than that!

GreenPotato · 30/11/2015 21:00

Bruce Springsteen is called Bruce! What's not to like? :o

I know another v. nice Bruce too.

I think if you really like someone you can get used to anything (well almost) so I'd give him a chance. Maybe a few years down the line, on your wedding day :o you'll think "how did I almost give up on fabulous Bruce just because of his name!?"

Or maybe not, but you know. Would you like to be rejected for your name?

GreenPotato · 30/11/2015 21:01

No, "Nice to see you, to see you..." is Brucie, not Bruce. Big difference!

Helmetbymidnight · 30/11/2015 21:01

High fives green potato.

Op weren't you 'born to run'?!!! Etc etcetc

Potatoface2 · 30/11/2015 21:02

Potatoface2 · 30/11/2015 21:03

DrewsWife · 30/11/2015 21:04

We used to have a Black Labrador called Bruce.

He could hold an egg in his mouth without breaking it and pick up a live pheasant without hurting it.

ShebaShimmyShake · 30/11/2015 21:15

Didn't do Mr Wayne any harm.
