A good friend is upset and annoyed after a phone call with a teacher, basically her DD and others were standing round the door at the end of lesson and teacher told them to go and sit down, when they didn't the teacher put her hand on friends DD, friends DD shouted don't touch me.

Not enough detail here to say who was bu!

dodobookends · 27/11/2015 20:27

How old are the children?

Oh and perhaps they ought to learn to do as they are told...

PurpleDaisies · 27/11/2015 20:28

Is some of of your post missing? What's the aibu?

PaulAnkaTheDog · 27/11/2015 20:35

Ummmmm....

CRtester · 27/11/2015 20:35

Definitely seems as if some of the post is missing!

At the moment, I'd say it's the children who were unreasonable for not doing as they were told.

Parrotparties · 27/11/2015 20:46

They are 16, I wondered is the teacher unreasonable to have touched or is the DD unreasonable

You won't know how exactly they were touched unless you were there. Plus teenagers just LOVE to try and get their teachers in trouble by exaggerating. Ignore it.

noblegiraffe · 27/11/2015 20:51

Teachers are allowed to touch students. Students think it's 'against the law' or whatever, but it's not.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 27/11/2015 20:51

The teenager ibu.

Parrotparties · 27/11/2015 20:51

Sort of on her shoulder she said and then teacher said don't think you are so amazing everyone wants to touch you

Jesus, who would consider teaching as a career these days.

ghostyslovesheep · 27/11/2015 20:53

she's being a dick - the teacher was NBU

ilovesooty · 27/11/2015 20:53

Drip feed...

Perhaps the teenager should learn to do as she was told.

MrsCrimshaw · 27/11/2015 20:53

I am a Secondary teacher. There is no reason why a teacher cannot touch a child - on their shoulder or back to usher them along is perfectly reasonable. To strike, harm or inappropriately touch a child, of course, is an entirely different matter. In busy school environments it is pretty difficult to avoid all physical contact too.

"You can't touch me!" is something Secondary teachers hear daily. There is no law prohibiting this kind of normal physical contact, despite what the kids say!

Not directly related to this - but teachers also have stronger powers to search children than the police do.

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 27/11/2015 20:54

The student was BU

SevenSeconds · 27/11/2015 20:55

Teen was BU

Parrotparties · 27/11/2015 20:55

No she said don't touch me, so shouldn't the teacher have just apologised

Wolfiefan · 27/11/2015 20:55

Child sounds charming.
Doesn't do as told.
Shouts at teacher.
Then tries to get teacher into trouble.

Another reason I'm glad I left the profession.

And of course the parent thinks this madam is a special snowflake and teacher is an unreasonable bitch!

ShamefulPlaceMarker · 27/11/2015 20:56

What a horrible teenager! She's so wrapped up in herself that she doesn't care about another person's livelihood :/

PaulAnkaTheDog · 27/11/2015 20:56

The teenager sounds like a brat and a drama queen. Would do her good to rein in her attitude.

ladygracie · 27/11/2015 20:56

The teenager was being unreasonable.

ilovesooty · 27/11/2015 20:56

Apologised? For goodness sake. Hmm

Hygge · 27/11/2015 20:56

The DD sounds like she was being a cow actually.

They are old enough to behave themselves and do as they are asked the first time they are asked.

And they are old enough not to start all this "you can't touch me" nonsense over a hand on a shoulder.

She wasn't touched inappropriately, she wasn't harmed, she wasn't pushed, or hit, or thumped.

The DD needs to grow up, behave herself in school, do as she's asked, and start acting like a rational person, not a hysterical brat.

And as it's just a friend's DD, it's not really anything you need to worry about. Let them deal with it. Hopefully by telling the DD to grow up and get a grip.

ladygracie · 27/11/2015 20:56

Apologised for what?

ghostyslovesheep · 27/11/2015 20:57

she was rude to an adult who asked her to move
said adult then put a hand on her shoulder
said adult should apologise?

is this real

a 16 year old should learn to behave and not be a huge drama baby
