I can't be the only person who thinks that?

OP posts:
catfordbetty · 14/11/2015 12:44

Who might say this? In what context?

Sparkyduchess · 14/11/2015 12:45

I've only ever heard it used in a self mocking way, can't imagine anyone using it with a straight face.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/11/2015 12:45

Who has said it?

I've heard it said on the radio in a jokey, sarcastic way, as in 'they're not down with the kids.

lightupmynight · 14/11/2015 12:46

I mean in a self mocking way.

Down with the da yoof is just as bad if not worse.

OP posts:
pinkyredrose · 14/11/2015 12:47

YANBU. So cringy.

catfordbetty · 14/11/2015 12:47

What would you prefer?

lightupmynight · 14/11/2015 12:51

What would you prefer?

I just think its a stupid phrase and it gets said on here so much.

Especially when they use the word "da" and "init" ... I mean thats what teenagers used to say years ago. I really don't think anyone says that anymore.

OP posts:
catfordbetty · 14/11/2015 12:52

What would you like them to say instead?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/11/2015 12:54

Said on here? Confused.

Is it, I've never noticed.

Sparkyduchess · 14/11/2015 12:55

The fact that no one uses it seriously is precisely the point. Similarly 'da' and 'init'.

Enjolrass · 14/11/2015 12:55

I said it!! Today on another thread!

That why OP started this, as a few used it as a joke.

So gutted Hmm

iklboo · 14/11/2015 12:55

It's supposed to be cringeworthy. It's making fun of someone trying so desperately hard to be on the same wavelength as young people they use words they think kids use and make an arse of themselves.

It's said in here as a pisstake.

lightupmynight · 14/11/2015 12:55

I know its not said seriously.

Its just so unbelievably cringy to use.

OP posts:
Sparkyduchess · 14/11/2015 12:56

Still classy, the OP had a pop at another poster on the snapchat thread, poster used the phrase in question as a response, OP is being slightly stirry although no idea to what end.

lightupmynight · 14/11/2015 12:57

Not about you Enjoirass Confused

You're not special enough for me to dedicate a thread to you unfortunately.

OP posts:
StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/11/2015 12:59

Sparky oh I see, a shit stirring thread.

How fucking bad ass is OP. Hmm.

Enjolrass · 14/11/2015 12:59

Yabu definitely.... As I am that special! Grin

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/11/2015 12:59

*or is it badass?

Sorry dude. Wink

lightupmynight · 14/11/2015 13:00

If you search "down with the kids" you get 3,090 results on here.

Obviously they are not all said in that way but the majority are and I'm allowed to say that phrase is naff and makes me cringe.

Its my opinion and my opinion is not gospel - no one has to get their knickers in a twist about it.

OP posts:
chemenger · 14/11/2015 13:01

The whole, entire point of the phrase is that it is cringeworthy, or am I missing something. It is a parody of what someone who is trying too hard to act in a youthful way might say (but would not because it is a well known phrase). How would you suggest this could be better expressed?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/11/2015 13:02

You have, you started a thread because your knickers are all twisted up. Grin

^ This.

Spilose · 14/11/2015 13:11

The there is someone on this thread who clearly is NOT down wit the kids...

pieceofpurplesky · 14/11/2015 13:18

Perhaps the OP is too down with the kids to understand the sarcastic nature the words are used. How can a phrase that is supposed to be cringeworthy be objected to by being cringeworthy Hmm
