Most people are clueless about protein or calcium needed

I follow a vegan diet and the amount of people that go on about protein or calcium is ridiculous and just shows they are totally clueless.

The RDA for protein isn't that big at all, many veg contains protein so before even getting onto to nuts, seeds and pulses I've had half of the RDA just from veg.

Calcium is in way more foods than just dairy, I had figs in porridge for breakfast made with almond milk. For lunch I'm having a salad with lots of leafy greens with a dressing made from tahini, so I'm doing just great with calum and getting it from a variety of sources.

You used Gwyneth Paltrow as an example of a vegan with an inadequate diet. You said:

Her diet was inadequate and it was vegan. She was very dedicated and, by all accounts, tried very hard to nourish her body in the best possible way. And yet she failed.

I'm not convinced she was a) vegan b) a vegan for any length of time. Macrobiotic maybe. So what was your claim based on?

Regarding supplementation, I asked:

"Why, for example, does NICE suggest supplementation for the estimated 10 million people in England who have low Vitamin D status?"

You replied:
That would be because most people in the UK don't see the sun very often.

So you do understand that a significant proportion of meat eaters might require supplementation? (Not just Vitamin D - other examples might include people who eat meat and require iron/b12 supplements for different types of anaemia.) You can't argue that a vegan diet is inadequate, because it requires fortification/supplementation, and that an omnivorous diet is optimal, without considering the millions of meat eaters who need supplementation or other interventions to help with dietary/lifestyle related issues.
