To not 'get' Daniel Craig

Obviously I can see the obvious appeal Grin

To coincide with the new Bond film I've discussed this a couple of times recently. I find him uncharismatic, bland as an actor, and awkward in interviews. He's just about to appear on Graham Norton and I'm already cringing.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Sparklingbrook I think it varies, there are a lot of books. Some films are pretty close, others are sort of based on the books, other films are same in name only and some films unrelated.

NoahVale · 24/10/2015 10:25

I have loved him since Our Friends in the North. those eyes.
he is a good Bond. I think.
I saw him on the previous Graham Norton and felt sorry for him, he did not shine.

i didnt like that Sam Smith song until I heard him sing it on Graham Norton last night. So good.

Sparklingbrook · 24/10/2015 10:25

Thanks Moln. I just wondered when they might end. Never it seems. Grin

Moln · 24/10/2015 10:29

Just looked it up Sparklingbrook, apparently there's 39 books!! 14 by Fleming.

Casino Royale was Flemings first Bond book so really was a proper reboot i guess.

dynevoran · 24/10/2015 10:35

Idris Elba would be a great bond.

Sparklingbrook · 24/10/2015 10:36

That's really interesting Moln I had no idea how complicated it was. Nicking the title but not the story? Bit disrespectful. Grin

GabiSolis · 24/10/2015 10:39

I can take or leave Daniel Craig as an actor but I can't get past him looking like Vladimir Putin.

I think Idris Elba would make a fantastic Bond.

Notso · 24/10/2015 10:56

MIL loves him. She is also a fan of David Beckham. I find them similar. Blonde, muscular, craggy looking and nice guy. Unappealing to me.
I just can't watch him as JB. I haven't seen him in anything else but I find he make Bond boring.

Sparklingbrook · 24/10/2015 10:58

David Beckham is another one I don't see the appeal of. I bet there are some who think he should be JB.

F0xglove · 24/10/2015 11:02

He scrubs up well, but equally, I can just picture him in a tracksuit on the bus, smelling of stale roll ups, 600 ml can of coke in one hand. Trying to crack the pin code on the phone he's just stroked out of somebody's bag.

Gwan, you knnow you can picture it too.

F0xglove · 24/10/2015 11:03

David Beckham is classically, conventionally handsome. Daniel Craig is the 'something about him' category.

DrasticAction · 24/10/2015 11:03

Oh no, for god sake not Beckham Confused his voice would have to be dubbed for a start. Goodness sakes.

yes F0x I can picture it.

Notso · 24/10/2015 11:04

MIL for one Sparkling Hmm

DrasticAction · 24/10/2015 11:05

Yes something about him for sure - that something being, is he a king Edward Tater or is he Norman W...or is he just all ears. Hmm

He's not usually pumped up and muscly. His Casino Royale body must have took a lot of work. He usually has a much more lean athletic physique normally - not that I really notice or Google or anything.

WitchWay · 24/10/2015 11:36

I like him as an actor but don't fancy him at all needs a much much hairier chest

GhettoFabulous · 24/10/2015 12:06

DC always looks a bit dry and cracked to me, like he needs a damn good moisturiser. Fassbender's going the same way lately, much as it pains me to diss lovely Michael.

elQuintoConyo · 24/10/2015 12:51

Great ears to hold onto for cunnilingus, but otherwise Dc does nothing for me.

Colin Salmon for Bond!

Scremersford · 24/10/2015 14:59

Rather unattractive man. Not someone whose films I rush to see.

AMouseLivedinaWindMill · 24/10/2015 15:05

el what a very interesting spin on those ears Grin

GoringBit · 24/10/2015 15:40

Some years ago, I was crossing the road in an unfamiliar area, when I saw someone crossing in the opposite direction who I recognised. I was sure it was from work (which in those days entailed visiting lots of different offices), so I smiled and said hello, and he said hello back. About three minutes later, I realised that it was Daniel Craig. In my defence, he'd only been announced as Bond a couple of weeks before. Oh and he looked fantastic.

ComposHatComesBack · 24/10/2015 16:08

Even in Our Friends in the North I thought he put in the weakest performance.

Agreed. Mind you the other three of that group went on to have great careers too.

alteredimages · 24/10/2015 19:36

They have, but I don't think they have Daniel Craig's name recognition outside of the UK.

Is Gina McKee still working? I haven't seen her in anything in ages. I love her.
