to think there should be an alternative hot drink to tea and coffee

i don't like tea and recently gave up drinking coffee thinking that it wasn't doing me any good healthwise.

Problem is what do i drink now? Tried hot water with non sugar sweetner which was nice enough but woke up with a muzzy head. I'd like just to be able to drink water but its so dull. Don't like any of the coffee substitutes - ideally would like a squash type liquid to put with hot water but don't want to fill my body with crap and rot my teeth.

There are lots of herbal teas about, many of them lovely.

strawberrypenguin · 21/10/2015 07:19

What was it that stopped you drinking coffee? If the caffeine why not just switch to decaf?

ChipInTheSugar · 21/10/2015 07:20

Peppermint oil in hot water is nice. Can't remember if I usually put honey in it too.

BikeRunSki · 21/10/2015 07:21

Hot Ribena.

Sighing · 21/10/2015 07:22

Lemon and honey in hot water?
Jasmine tea.
Chicory (yuck)

Slugonthewindow · 21/10/2015 07:22

Hot chocolate.

Salted caramel green tea - lovely!

MrsMilkyMoo · 21/10/2015 07:24

Loads of great herbal teas - blackcurrant, ginseng and vanilla is yummy, or ginger and lemon, for example. There are so many varieties to try.

Chai tea is great too, or maybe you'd like a different variety like rooibos?

Fugghetaboutit · 21/10/2015 07:25

Chai
Hot chocolate
Hot water with lemon
Infused fruit waters
Warm milk with honey

skippy67 · 21/10/2015 07:26

I don't drink tea or coffee. I have hot chocolate, or green tea, or one of the many herbal teas. Lemon and ginger is one of my faves.

TreeLemons · 21/10/2015 07:26

Have you tried fruitbroo.com/

They are all natural and I think they taste quite nice.

ToffeeForEveryone · 21/10/2015 07:28

Twinings do a lovely apple tea.

PolyesterBride · 21/10/2015 07:29

Barleycup is what you need

PuppyMonkey · 21/10/2015 07:29

I'd take "doesn't like tea" (weird) to mean op doesn't like herbal tea either.

But then herbal tea is revolting ...

Hot chocolate? Cocoa?

Ovaltine? Grin

HellonHeels · 21/10/2015 07:29

I like fennel tea, squash with hot water, hot chocolate, matcha tea. But I also like decent coffee too. What was the issue with coffee?

Lots of those fruit teas are also bad for your teeth, BTW.

TheBunnyOfDoom · 21/10/2015 07:30

Chai green tea and salted caramel green tea are both really nice.
Chai latte.
Hot chocolate (comes in loads of flavours now so you can get variety)
Hot milk and honey.
Herbal teas.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 21/10/2015 07:30

I second hot Ribena!

SleepyForest · 21/10/2015 07:30

Mint tea. Delicious, refreshing and sugar free.

justgoandgetalife · 21/10/2015 07:31

Rooibos aka redbush tea- lovely! Tastes a bit smoky but surprisingly refreshing.

PolyesterBride · 21/10/2015 07:31

www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/barleycup-instant-cereal-drink-60031334 You can get it in supermarkets too

sparechange · 21/10/2015 07:32

Mint tea?
Or other fruit/herbal teas? Some can be quite sugary but they can be lovely.

Or miso soup? You have to watch the salt content a bit, but it's lovely...

Boredofthinkingofnewnames · 21/10/2015 07:32

Squash with hot water

Bunbaker · 21/10/2015 07:33

As already pointed out, why not drink decaffeinated coffee?

Other options:
Barleycup
Hot chocolate
Bovril
Plain hot water
A plethora of herb/fruit teas
Green tea

Loveleopardprint · 21/10/2015 07:34

Ribena are doing a winter version which you add hot water to. It is quite sweet but I like it as a caffeine free alternative.

eltsihT · 21/10/2015 07:35

I regularly drink nice fruit juice diluted with hot water out the kettle, about 1/3 fruit juice 2/3 water.

Sleepybeanbump · 21/10/2015 07:37

Any number of herbal teas.
Roibos.
Chicory coffee.
Hot chocolate

Lots of options
