If you value your children's education so lowly, I assume you don't mind their space being taken?

Pardon???

nancy75 · 20/10/2015 21:35

Is your child on a waiting list by any chance?

Lauren15 · 20/10/2015 21:36

What do you mean?

Only1scoop · 20/10/2015 21:36

Eh?

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 20/10/2015 21:39

Do you mean your dc are on a waiting list for a school and you'd like pupils with unauthorised absences to lose their places so your dc would get a place?

EatDessertFirst · 20/10/2015 21:39

Oh dear.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 20/10/2015 21:41

Ummmmmmm......

saucony · 20/10/2015 21:42

Yes, of course YABU.

ottothedog · 20/10/2015 21:42

Yawn

coffeeisnectar · 20/10/2015 21:44

Oh God. It's going to be one of those threads.

Op clearly didn't get first choice despite living in catchment. Child who did has been on a term time holiday. Op now frothing.

angelos02 · 20/10/2015 21:45

OK. A week in disneyland wins. Very educational. Fella that overturned the ruling I his instance already has 2 kids in private schools. Do others have the option?

OP posts:
HeySoulSister · 20/10/2015 21:45

Well if that child is absent continually then yes, I can see your point

angelos02 · 20/10/2015 21:46

By the way, I don't have any children. Couldn't afford them.

Chippednailvarnish · 20/10/2015 21:47

coffeeisnectar · 20/10/2015 21:48

So the point of this thread is what??

Only1scoop · 20/10/2015 21:48

Sorry I'm unable to fathom your posts.

So not sure Yabu or not.

clam · 20/10/2015 21:50

I have a vague idea that some countries do in fact do this - take away a child's place in a school if there is unauthorised absence. Happy to be corrected.

nancy75 · 20/10/2015 21:53

If you don't have kids why on earth do you give a flying fuck about school places? Seriously pre child this would not have even been on the edge of my radar

ouryve · 20/10/2015 21:54

Why do you care?

Pico2 · 20/10/2015 21:55

I think we can all agree that the best thing for children with a disrupted education, due to reasons beyond their control, is to take their school place away and send them to a school that they have even less chance of getting to regularly.

icouldjusteatacroissant · 20/10/2015 21:56

The father in question won a court battle for taking his daughter to Florida in term time, on the basis, she does not 'regularly' miss school. I'll explain as the OP hasn't Grin
