To want unauthorised children's leave spaces to go to the next place in the queue?

If you value your children's education so lowly, I assume you don't mind their space being taken?

My DD will be having two days off for a funeral and her schools policy is they don't athetise any absence.

Should she loose her place or do we get to keep it because she's not off for shits and giggles?

sugar21 · 20/10/2015 22:33

FFS !

Chippednailvarnish · 20/10/2015 22:33

We used to have donuts for pudding at school...

Shakey15000 · 20/10/2015 22:33

Custard is explicitly reserved for apple/rhubarb pie/crumble and Christmas pud. Smile

insan1tyscartching · 20/10/2015 22:40

I like custard donuts best too. I had a salted caramel one the other day which was somewhat disappointing but not disappointing enough for me not to eat the second one.
I watched the bloke in question on This Morning and have to say I agreed with him that HT's who have knowledge of their pupils and their family circumstances should have discretion to authorise absences like they used to.

SwedeDreams · 20/10/2015 22:44

You can't put custard on Christmas pudding! Shock

Shocking thread full of ill conceived ideas

Shakey15000 · 20/10/2015 22:51

You have to put custard on Christmas pud, it's the LAW Shock

nancy75 · 20/10/2015 22:54

I think if you put custard on your Christmas pud you shouldn't be allowed one next year, and they should take away your child's school place for good measure

PaulAnkaTheDog · 20/10/2015 23:09

I still don't get the op Blush

BondJayneBond · 20/10/2015 23:15

Paul, I'm pretty sure that OP is suggesting that, if a child attends an oversubscribed school and then is absent from school without permission, then that child should be kicked out of school and their place offered to the child at the top of the waiting list.

Rugbyscrum · 20/10/2015 23:16

Sorry but got to wade in here - Christmas pud MUST be served with lashings of hot custard AND whipped double cream. Well I'll be off now I've said my bit.....

BondJayneBond · 20/10/2015 23:17

I don't agree BTW.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/10/2015 23:20

Christmas pudding needs brandy butter not custard.

BondJayneBond · 20/10/2015 23:21

My disagreement was about the OP, not Christmas pudding. I hate Christmas pudding so have no opinion on what it should be served with.

We had cheesecake instead last Christmas.

PrinceHansOfTheTescoAisles · 20/10/2015 23:26

He took the 6yo daughter to Disneyland but not the 5/6yo stepson? That seems a little unfair...

And doughnuts...anything but the weird salt and vinegar ones. I kid you not.

Andrewofgg · 20/10/2015 23:27

That was one case in a magistrates' court. It does not set ant precedent for any other case except in the imagination of the tabloid press.

Take away a child's place because irresponsible parents take a holiday in term-time? Yes, right . . .

Having said which: parents with some explanation about why it is all right for them to do it are no doubt content when the next child who simply must miss a week in term time is the child of their own child's teacher.

Rugbyscrum · 20/10/2015 23:31

Shakey15000 - I'm with you on your views on custard but could conceivably be tempted by a doughnut served with hot custard over it but never cold custard inside it. Just not cricket.

IAmNotDarling · 20/10/2015 23:33

I have a distinct feeling that OP is here trying to lay some synthetic grass.

Let's see if this ends up being consulted on as a proposal from the government eh?!

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 20/10/2015 23:35

No child should be punished for thier parents actions.

Booyaka · 20/10/2015 23:36

He did take the stepson. He just didn't get find for the stepson because he was at private school. He took all 3 children.

Ah I probably should have read the article...that's ok then! Thanks Booyaka

coffeeisnectar · 20/10/2015 23:54

Surely you pour brandy on your Xmas pud, set it on fire and then serve with Bailey's double cream? Not custard!!

Custard in trifle and donuts cold.

Custard on crumbles and pies hot.

nancy75 · 20/10/2015 23:55

Mary's, I think we need to get the donut issue resolved before we move on to Christmas puds
