I was looking forward to X factor. What's all this rugby malarkey?

Nigel is the best.

Friend of dB is being a right knob on Facebook though. He's been a right whiney little cow since England lost to Wales, and is now spewing vitriol everywhere. Can he not just appreciate a good game well played? sigh

tldr · 17/10/2015 21:26

Oh dear. Now OP's lost X Factor and her thread.

dancerchancer · 17/10/2015 21:27

I appreciate a lot of people will like rugby but is it not a minority sport, a bit like cricket, in other words should it be on prime time ITV on a Saturday night? ConfusedSad

They used to be very strict about it. Literally a teensy bit of blood and the ref would call for them to be replaced. You'd see players being stitched, taped and/or glued on the sidelines.

I think the All Blacks are going to win this tournament. They're playing so well!

Moln · 17/10/2015 21:29

I utterly love rugby and I'm begrudgingly admiring the All Blacks thrashing France.

Though I get hoe you feel as I losthe football and can understand the annoyance when it disrupts your desired viewing!!

PurpleDaisies · 17/10/2015 21:30

A minority sport?! Club rugby maybe but this is the World Cup.

jelliebelly · 17/10/2015 21:31

Minority sport? Really?

Caprinihahahaha · 17/10/2015 21:31

I'm a bit shocked that France have rolled over so badly.
I fully expect the all blacks to win but this is pretty poor from the French.

nancy75 · 17/10/2015 21:32

At least with rugby you know when it will be finished, now cricket is a different matter, how can you have a game that goes on for a whole week!

patterkiller · 17/10/2015 21:32

Yes YABU. X factor is shit. The best part of rugby for me is the ref and the respect. Brilliant to go to and brilliant to watch on tv.

honeysucklejasmine · 17/10/2015 21:32

Once every four years isnt too much to ask, I don't think.

I can summarise x factor if you like? People will sing, most of them badly. Cheryl will say a song reminds her of her nan/aunt/cat and cry. Simon will be mean, Nick will look gormless and there will be lots of advert breaks and over dramatic voice overs. Sorted. Wink

disclaimer: I have not watched x factor since Olly Murs was on it. I assume it hasn't changed.

Btw, is Nigel refereeing the final?

Caprinihahahaha · 17/10/2015 21:33

England were robbed in the cricket.
That's five days of my life right there.

Snoopadoop · 17/10/2015 21:33

Minority sport!

A quick Google shows that England V Wales drew in 9.8 million UK viewers, the X factor that week got 7.2 million.

Libitina · 17/10/2015 21:33

I'm loving it! The French have given up.

AnemonesCloser · 17/10/2015 21:33

I'm glad the French are getting a proper drubbing after all the injuries they inflicted on Ireland last week.

PurpleDaisies · 17/10/2015 21:33

France can be a bit like that-they just seem to give up sometimes. It's a shame it isn't being played in France. It is always amusing when the crowd start booing their own side.

The All Blacks look incredible tonight.

Caprinihahahaha · 17/10/2015 21:35

I've been to see France in Paris. It's quite the experience.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 17/10/2015 21:35

I don't like the X Factor either. However, I appreciate that some people do and I don't think that viewers should be compelled to watch one thing over another when there's a perfectly practical solution of dedicated channels.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 17/10/2015 21:36

Love the rugby. Would choose it any day over xfactor or soaps (haven't watched either for at least 5 years!).
DH is Welsh though so we have a grumpy atmosphere at home tonight...

73dexter · 17/10/2015 21:36

Lol just because you don't like rugby doesn't make it a minority sport! 25 million Japanes viewers tuned in to watch their match against Samoa, which makes X factor the minority show!

PurpleDaisies · 17/10/2015 21:36

I'm gutted for the England cricket team too caprini. Bloody low light. They absolutely deserved to win this test, and it's good to see Cook back in form.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 17/10/2015 21:37

Caprini me too, but it was one of the dullest games I've ever seen! Wales at the Millenium Stadium is always amazing though.

tldr · 17/10/2015 21:38

I'm feeling sorry for France now. I never feel sorry for France. On account of them being French.

Caprinihahahaha · 17/10/2015 21:38

Yy Purple
What's the point of floodlights if you are just going to call light once they come on?
And don't get me started on the time wasting.
Great recovery though - bodes well for the next test.
