Company are half owned by a French company and the work Christmas party is in Paris. Suggestion by French boss is to go to a cabaret show. www.lido.fr
I don't think that it's appropriate. Not sure that I'd want to be sat beside my boss and watching this.

It's no good OP - I now long to know the name of your workplace, if only so that I can avoid somewhere that's prepared to shell out well over a hundred Euros a head for its works Christmas 'do' Shock

All those years of paying for ourselves (and hence always having to go to a Harvester or similar because that was all that a lot of us could afford at Christmas) haven't left me bitter you understand - oh no, not me much Smile

Regardless of whether anyone thinks those who object to this are prudish... uptight..."British"...etc...you may be getting embroiled in something that IS AGAINST THE LAW IN THE UK. What harm is there in at least checking it with HR. Imagine someone brings it up in a future industrial tribunal - "And then there was that time allgoodnamestaken booked us all to see tits in Paris and it was made clear it was compulsory!"

ofafrenchmind - I think you're right that everyday life in Britain is probably less......sensual? than in France. And that's the way that different cultures have developed. And it wouldn't hurt some British people to try something typically French to have their horizons broadened.

But not as part of a compulsory works party. And I agree with the PP who said there's no point going to Paris if you're going to eat shit food. I'm sure the French colleagues can get behind that!

I live in France and my husband's multi-national French company has never ever had any kind of Christmas party...
That said, I think if it was made compulsory the union would have something to say about it...
However, the Christmas presents for the kids are always quite welcome!

What allgoodnames said..... even a short clip was rather repetitive and boring. Very 70's.
