I won't mention names but some of them seem to be popular for....not a lot really. Certain people come to mind who have a reputation for being straight talking and funny but most of the time I don't see it. I find them rather disagreeable tbh. Is it just me?

I was - I was too lazy to change after last Halloween !

I have many people I imagine I am friends with - they may not realise it though

Have to agree with every word gin says. When I first discovered MN I couldn't wait to jump into threads and join in, I loved the fact that lots of people were busy chatting and having a laugh.

I found it welcoming and enticing, not off putting and cliquey. So I pulled on my glittery wellies and waded in up to my hips Smile

But IRL I have always been very sociable. Always liked big groups. My motto has always been 'the more the merrier'.

I don't have any time for actual cliquey bitchiness or trying to deliberately exclude someone. That has never been how I get my kicks. Not at school and not in my adult life.

I think the sort of person who dislikes these free for all chatty threads, and feel snubbed and excluded are probably the same person who stands at the school gates glaring at other Mums chatting, and thinking 'Snotty bitches, all ignoring me'. Rather than, you know, smiling and making eye contact and getting a conversation going themselves.

No one is such a special snowflake that everyone is going to run up to them with open arms the minute they step onto MN (or into the playground).

They really need to get over themselves a little bit. Stop feeling sorry for themselves and being begrudging...and start joining in.

TheSwallowingHandmaiden · 09/10/2015 11:04

Yes but if you don't identify as a feminist, or you have no axe to grind over collective worship in schools, or you dare say 'fat' instead of obese, or criticise the faecal hue of a dead old lady's teeth, you are treated like a cunt.

Hullygully · 09/10/2015 11:05

I....I...

nope, no words

do you mean you plough a lonely furrow, swallowing?

ginslinger · 09/10/2015 11:05

And not to take it personally if someone doesn't reply to you - threads can move quickly, people forget to come back, they don't notice blah blah. I've lost count of the threads i've killed or not had my pearls of wisdom acknowledged - it's like being at a big party and if that's not your thing then it might be better to find your thing somewhere else

Hullygully · 09/10/2015 11:07

yy gin

thornrose · 09/10/2015 11:07

Ok thanks Liquorice. Not something I've noticed.

FattyNinjaOwl · 09/10/2015 11:10

The thing is there's even a place for posters who are ignored, there's a thread where we all congregate and everyone is welcome. So no one can complain about feeling ignored.

TheSwallowingHandmaiden · 09/10/2015 11:11

I'm never ignored.

TheSwallowingHandmaiden · 09/10/2015 11:12

Does 'ploughing a lonely furrow' mean wanking?

kungfupannda · 09/10/2015 11:15

Doesn't this exact thread pop up every 6 months or so?

I reckon MNHQ start it as a sort of pressure valve, so everyone can have a good shout and scream about cliques and royalty and get it all out of their systems.

Otherwise MN would explode.

SkandiStyle · 09/10/2015 11:18

Sadly, some people are just sad and it pisses them off to witness other people being jokey and enjoying themselves on here...And sadly, it cheers them up to squeeze out a little bitch plop on a happier poster's shoe.

However, dammit, I have to leave you all now and return to real life. Duty calls...

But it's been luffly seeing you all

Hullygully · 09/10/2015 11:21

no, ploughing a lonely furrow means do you feel you have opinions that aren't shared by anyone else? As that is what you have said.

Goodforsolong · 09/10/2015 11:25

Liquorice

I NC a lot, I can walk on some threads and not be acknowledged, I can walk on some threads and get on with the oldies (they have no idea if I'm new or if they have spoken to me before.) other times I've had quite heated debates with some , and i've had to walk away and an lick my wounds.
But that can happen with posters not classed as oldies or popular too, tomorrows another day it just a forum. So what? Some posters talk to each other.

Next time I see you on a thread I'll wave, then you might feel more part of it. You might find it strange after I've NC and you get a random waving at you Grin

Goodforsolong · 09/10/2015 11:30

kungfupannda

Yy also the "I don't Like the word cunt" and
"Dog owners" there are many more, I think they come about every 4-6 months.

kungfupannda · 09/10/2015 11:32

Goodforsolong

Do you reckon if we do an advanced search we can crack the code and produce an accurate list of predicted threads for the next 12 months?

Or will that get us taken out by secret MNHQ ninjas?

00100001 · 09/10/2015 11:35

"criticise the faecal hue of a dead old lady's teeth, you are treated like a cunt."

Why would you insult a dead person???

ginslinger · 09/10/2015 11:36

Bwe haven't had a 'favourite MN thread for a couple of weeks. We're also well overdue a thread on the merits of Halloween and trick-or-treating.

Goodforsolong · 09/10/2015 11:39

Grin we could try!

Right need to remember what we are looking for......we have three so far.

Moldies is another one,

Why don't woman identify as femenists?

Anymore? I know there are

Goodforsolong · 09/10/2015 11:41

Aha thanks gin

ExitPursuedByABear · 09/10/2015 11:44

Me too Hully.

I can still remember the first time you namechecked me.

I think you made me your sparkly wand lieutenant.

kungfupannda · 09/10/2015 11:45

There's the 'MN is a terrible place. I joined just to start this thread and tell you all what vipers you are and how I'll never post ever again' one.

Ooh, and parent and child parking. That one's on a monthly schedule.
