That the "popular" posters on here are often rude.

I won't mention names but some of them seem to be popular for....not a lot really. Certain people come to mind who have a reputation for being straight talking and funny but most of the time I don't see it. I find them rather disagreeable tbh. Is it just me?

I agree with Bran

toldmywrath · 08/10/2015 13:21

and thornrose.

IamTheWhoreofBabylon · 08/10/2015 13:21

I hate the fawning over well known posters
I rarely look at who has posted what but it stands out when posters are naming we known posters and agreeing with them

Hullygully · 08/10/2015 13:21

I agree a bit with thornrose, but only a bit

Or an entourage maryz
These threads crop up far too often about the 'popular ones' or 'favourite ones' but really, is it just jealousy?! Is it a hankering to be recognised or just bitching about a poster as you recognise their name!?
Fwiw I come across various posters I recognise and the only one I actively avoid is Maryz :)

toldmywrath · 08/10/2015 13:22

Blardy hell I'll end up naming everyone who agrees with everyone in a minute -no aspersions being cast. Smile

Most of the 'popular posters' as in 'MN royalty' types have fucked off now haven't they? I don't see many around and there doesn't seem to be anyone who has replaced them either?

TheImprobableGirl · 08/10/2015 13:23

Primarily because either I am thinking about christmas in August, or talking about christmas in October, or planning christmas in some other form that she just aint on board with till December 24th Wink

PerspicaciaTick · 08/10/2015 13:23

I've been here many, many years. Years 2-3 were probably my peak years for noticing other people's NNs and worrying about MN royalty. Then the slow churn of namechanges took over and I have literally no idea who anyone is any more. I just read each post with the fresh eyes of an accomplished amnesiac. Some names seem familiar, but I can never remember why - which is fine. Oh, and I don't go on the quiche threads because they confuse me - but I'm sure people in a quiche no each other. But I let that gently wash over me.

Does Bran still post as Bran? I haven't seen her to agree with her for some time :(

JeffsanArsehole · 08/10/2015 13:24

ilovesooty

Totally agree that regular posters name change to say something ruder, more blunt as that's what I've done.

I've been 'Jeff' since hackergate and I've definitely been much more blunt and people have been much ruder to me because they don't recognise the name.

BrianCoxReborn · 08/10/2015 13:25

I'm the only royalty around here in my own mind do kneel before me wenches.

I don't recognise anyone anymore, so many name changes.

So I like to treat everyone the same, with respect, unless they're an arsehole and then the knives come out

TheImprobableGirl · 08/10/2015 13:25

Haha no wibble needed! T'was just in jest

I only recognise about five names now.

I preferred it when I knew people, it still seems odd not engaging with people

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 08/10/2015 13:25

Wouldn't have a clue who was popular, I just about remember my kids names never mind a load of Internet strangers

toldmywrath · 08/10/2015 13:25

Anyway back to your original point OP. I know what you mean & I have on the odd occasion felt a bit slighted when people completely& utterly ignore what I have posted and then they post "hey it's *** -yoohoo" Confused

Is it because I am old? I don't understand this IT'S THE INTERNET mentality.

Nabootique · 08/10/2015 13:27

I don't tend to look at usernames unless I am going to respond directly to someone or if the post or thread has made me laugh. In the case of the latter i find it is usually one of four or five posters, all of whom are regulars and seem to be well liked, agreed with or amuse people.

You do all realise there's an actual live webchat with actual Meryl Streep going on just now, don't you?
