I have just received an anonymous typed letter in the post addressed to the 'occupier'.

Essentially the letter was complaining that my dog was tied outside barking between 14.00-16.00 on Saturday and stopped a baby getting to sleep.

I fully appreciate that this would be extremely annoying for the parents, however I am very upset that their approach is to send an anonymous letter. I don't understand why they couldn't call to the door to speak to us or put their name and telephone number on it. There is no doubt who it is, as there is only one house with a baby in the area.

I am an absolute dog lover and my dog is well treated, walked 3 times a day, very much part of the family and rarely left alone for more than a couple of hours. I am not only distressed at their approach, but also the insinuation that I am a neglectful pet owner.

This has taken a lot out of me and I would really appreciate others thoughts/ views. Would you ignore the letter or approach them?

She'd be annoyed they wrote a note instead of talking to her at her convenience when she was in.

My NDN have a yappy dog that at times has barked for hours on end. It's stopped my kids sleeping on many occasions. I contacted the council to yes, send an anonymous complaint. Why? Because it wasn't worth falling out over. They've since had a baby and lo and behold they finally tell it to shut up because they don't want it disturbing their sleeping baby.

Craw is crow. Yes it's daytime, the kids have been given permission to use the field between the back of my house and the old steading for their bikes and quads since the land they used to use was sold to developers. This same old goat once asked me when I was pregnant if he had left me yet? Conclusion - CRAW!!! Everybody in the village has had something complained about by her and she's a frequent flier to the council office. Even the housing officer said if there was a problem there would be more than one batty old git complaining

Hence my saying to op to tell her complainant to f off. If there's a problem in a place more than one person will complain. Sending an anonymous letter just makes you a knob.

Ok OP, go complain the baby was keeping your dog awake Grin

A dog should never, ever, under any circumstances, be tied up. If you are truly a dog lover, I'm surprised you do not know that. Behind a fence in your garden, fine - although not if it is out in your garden barking for two hours!

Dogs should be in homes untethered with an owner who tends to them regularly and gives lots of care..maybe yours dog could go live with the NDN? Grin

Bugger off. My dogs are in kennels out back. Only ones inside are bitches if they're in season so my neighbours dogs don't howl in the night. Loads of dogs don't live indoors. Most I know are kennelled

hibbleddible · 24/09/2015 23:49

sproke which country do you live in?

Are the dogs not cold?

Why have dogs if you don't want them indoors? (When do you spend time with them?)

sproketmx · 25/09/2015 00:17

I love in oakley in scotland. They're proper working dogs lurchers, border terriers, labs and spaniels. They're out with the kids in the garden or out with hubby working etc. I'm from old stock. Where dogs and horses and people had to work for their keep. We have horses too and they're not stabled either.

SurlyCue · 25/09/2015 00:31

a dog barking for two hours is a stressed out dog. I would stop leaving her tied up outside I wouldn't do it on the first place tbh she isn't happy.

sproketmx · 25/09/2015 00:36

My dogs can bark from after 3 timmy 8pm. Doesn't mean they're stressed or unhappy, means they're running about with the kids. We don't know op in rl or situation so don't judge

hibbleddible · 25/09/2015 00:37

Lurchers aren't hardy outdoor dogs, I hope the kennels are heated.

sproketmx · 25/09/2015 00:41

Naw the kennels aren't heated but neither my house. The lurchers used for lampin and he's 9. Done well outside all that time and one of the lest behaved. They have beds and shelter and outdoor runs. As complies with the welfare act. Only indoor dog I know are wee yappy things owned by old folk

sproketmx · 25/09/2015 00:42

And he's more long dog than lurcher. Collie x whippet x saluki
