DTD and found out he had shaved legs and tribal tatoos - run away?

Margaritapracataz · 23/09/2015 13:59

I'm dating someone a bit younger than me.

Now found out he has a lot of tribal tatoos on one side. I just don't get them, it shows no creatively or individuality and I do think less of him now.

Once I'd got over that I realised that he shaves his legs. I've never heard of a guy doing this before.

Run a mile or are these normal things these days?

green underpants once put me off a man i was seeing they were briefs!

Shockers · 23/09/2015 15:49

My friend shaves his legs, and armpits. He says he feels more hygienic, as he plays tennis a lot.

He looks better than me in shorts...

squoosh · 23/09/2015 15:52

I couldn't be with a man with shaved armpits.

Spidertracker · 23/09/2015 15:55

No, I wouldn't like the tattoos.
I could get over the shaved legs but tattoos no matter how they look I have a instant 'eww' reaction if I have to touch them. I do know that is incredibly weird though.

brightnearly · 23/09/2015 15:55

(Sings):

"I've got two legs from my hips to the ground, and

when I move them they walk around, and

when I lift them they climb the stairs, and

when I shave them they ain't got hairs!"

yakari · 23/09/2015 16:02

My BIL shaves his legs and I believe my DSis is quite happy as far as sex goes - but then he has no tribal tattoos. Maybe it's the combination that's bad?

Wankarella · 23/09/2015 16:06

My Exh used to shave his legs, back, chest, pubic hair, he let me wax him too. He said it looked better in the Gym. Hmm He also has a tattoo, not tribal though, just my name Grin stupid arse

elQuintoConyo · 23/09/2015 16:08

How did you see the tattoos if the lights were off?

dustarr73 · 23/09/2015 16:13

Grin at brightnearly

madwomanbackintheattic · 23/09/2015 16:27

I know loads of triathletes that shave their legs. It's not an aesthetic thing, it's a speed thing. I've spent a fair amount of time sharing accommodation and got over seeing adult men hovering over sinks with razors and their leg in the air a long time ago. And these were serious hardcore types that didn't give a shit what they looked like, just performance.

BalloonSlayer · 23/09/2015 16:31

AlisonWunderland There is a country song, sung by a woman (I need to add because of this thread) called "Did I shave my legs for this?"

I am now imagining the man's version "Did I shave my balls for this?" Grin

mummble · 23/09/2015 16:39

But the OP isn't saying she doesn't like tattoos, she's saying she discovered he'd bought into an unimaginative trend rather than express any individuality and that was off-putting for her. It might have been different if he'd had a pair of elephants ears over his stomach and a trunk running down his cock, etc.

I personally fund all male vanity a turn-off.

yeOldeTrout · 23/09/2015 17:02

I suspect tribal-tat guy with shaved legs can do much better for a girlfr than OP.

ijustwannadance · 23/09/2015 17:10

I don't mind the leg shaving or daft tattoos but if he had character socks/underwear that would put me right off.

MischiefInTheWind · 23/09/2015 17:13

'Once I'd got over that I realised that he shaves his legs. I've never heard of a guy doing this before.'

Really? It's fairly common amongst serious atheletes who cycle or swim competitively. I know several men that do, including a couple in their 40s.
But you shagged someone you barely know, which is way too weird for me.

squoosh · 23/09/2015 17:13

Shame on the strumpet!

JackSkellington · 23/09/2015 17:16

Well, let him find someone who won't judge him on his appearance?
FWIW mileend, I see the difference in your thread as opposed to this one.

MischiefInTheWind · 23/09/2015 17:17

Grin I'd be more bothered about the quality of the sex if I was wanting a casual shag.

mummble · 23/09/2015 17:17

I'm not sure it's much of a shocker that the OP doesn't know many serious athletes who cycle or swim competitively mischief perhaps you live in some kind of testosterone-charged olympic village-on-sea

MischiefInTheWind · 23/09/2015 17:20

Well, we are a bit of a hotspot for Gay Pride dos and cycling, it must be said.

MischiefInTheWind · 23/09/2015 17:21

And tattoo parlours.

Qwertybynature · 23/09/2015 17:28

Why are some of you calling you the OP shallow because she had sex & now isn't sure if she fancies him? This isn't a pride & prejudice forum is it?

I don't think YABU at all; if he was amazing in the sack it could've been a good trade off but it doesn't sound like he was?

horsewalksintoabar · 23/09/2015 17:33

Ditch him OP. He's not your cuppa. And no you're not judgemental. I think if he were a stellar guy, a diamond, you'd overlook the tribal tats and shaving. He could be a swimmer or cyclist or maybe it's his look. Who knows. But it rubs you the wrong way.

goblinhat · 23/09/2015 17:34

I wouldn't date a man with tats. I never have.
