AIBU username envy

Inspired by electricflyzapper. I am compleatly envious of some of your usernames! I wish I was creative enough to think of one that good. Am I the only person who gets this? Is it unreasonable? If you also suffer username inferiority complex, whose username do you covert?

All time top fave name - YippeeKiYayMakkaPakka

Sheer genius.

LadyShirazz · 19/09/2015 09:55

MarmaladeTwatkins is my favourite - in great part cause of LDC lady.

MamaLazarou is making me jealous too now.

RandomSocks · 19/09/2015 10:46

I have worked out Chris

As for AnyFucker, I assumed that her cult following is because of the content of her post: she posts some of the most pithy advice that cuts to the heart of the problem in a very small number of words. Yet on the anonymous internet the posting could be from any random person, more rudely described. Her posts are always so incisive, I cannot help wonder what she does in RL.

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2015 11:35

Two If By Sea is a film iirc (I googled it once). I just like the poetry of the name.

AnyFucker's well known on here and well liked in some quarters (Relationships for example, I have no opinion either way as I don't myself feel qualified to comment on that topic and largely steer clear, you'll find me wherever there's talk of David Mitchell or gingerbread). She always seems like an utterly good egg to me and immensely likeable. Of course, you don't have to like anything she says or her name or opinions or her hat or the cut of her gib. What I will never understand is the pointlessness of posting 'well I don't understand why anybody likes her posts anyway'. Really? I mean really you don't understand that other people think differently to you? Or are you just taking the opportunity to be a wazzock but faux couching it in mild terms? It's a bit like marching up to a group of friends, pointing at one of them and screeching "that there, that person, why do you lot even bother".

I suppose being a bit nasty is a life choice too. I just don't understand it. Grin

GudrunBrangwen · 19/09/2015 11:44

I have to admit that me and AF don't always see eye to eye but that doesn't mean she isn't right! Or that she isn't a really nice person.

She seems Ok to me Smile and also is always up for discussing the issues and will concede/apologise if she feels she got something wrong. I really respect that in anyone tbh.

I agree it isn't very nice to diss someone on a public forum, for no particular reason. Most of us here are trying our best to help others, and the few that aren't probably won't care anyway.

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2015 11:57

Gudrun, I love your name. I have to read it out loud every time I see it. It's very pleasing.

I get some very odd looks on the bus.

There are plenty of MNers I don't agree with. Some of them I disagree with on almost every point. Wannabe for example. We could not be more politically, socially or ethically opposed. I don't think we agree on any point. I really, really like her. She's a good'un. Opining 'but whhyyyyyy does anybody bother with MummyToFifiToffikins89, she's awful' is an unseemly waste of words.

I'm very middle-aged. I've reached a point in my life where I just want us all to be nice to each other. And I want a comfy chair. And a cup of tea.

AnyFucker · 19/09/2015 12:08

There is always some twat who uses the opportunity of what starts out as a jolly thread about simple usernames to have a personal pop at someone.

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2015 12:22

Wotcha AnyFucker. Happy Saturday. Hope the sun's shining where you are. I have a funny feeling you won't be letting the odd twattish comment get you down. I should hope not.

gallicgirl · 19/09/2015 12:25

Show of Hands - is your name from the band?

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 19/09/2015 12:26

As long as people whose opinion I have no respect for, keep voicing their dislike for AF, I know that she's still fighting the good fight.

If ever one of them says, "AnyFucker is brilliant" I'll know she's gone over to the dark side. It's like an early warning signal that hell's about to freeze over.

Itsacoupleofsongswhocares · 19/09/2015 12:29

I've only just got SirChenJin now after saying it out loud for 20minutes Blush

Bupcakesandcunting is my absolute favouritest

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2015 12:30

It is gallic. I'm a crusty old folkie.

I very rarely post as SOH anymore. Haven't done for a very long time but my love for ShowOfHands endures.

gallicgirl · 19/09/2015 12:31

Bless.

Steve Knightly always makes me laugh inadvertently, whereas Phil Beer is genuinely funny.

You're right about the cup of tea.

OffMyAyersRocker · 19/09/2015 12:40

I'm an epic name-changer but l always keep with a theme (think this name makes it obvious)

I really liked my last one, I thought it was genius but l got locked out of it yesterday Hmm

I grow fond of poster's story's not their names and hate it when they disappear. Says me who constantly changes but l don't think anyone is that fond of me!

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2015 12:45

Phil Beer is marvellous. I love seeing him on his solo tours. He's musically very different to Steve (who is fabulous but a geography teacher with musical success). I want to be Miranda.

Tirfarthoinn · 19/09/2015 12:49

I wasn't having a go at AnyFucker just didn't understand the significance/ cleverness of the username. Thanks to the poster who has spelled it out for me - it's basically SomeRandomer
Perhaps I should name change in deference?
AF did have a go at me years ago over my first world problem post but when challenged she apologised as she had a bad day at work. Consequently I think I do know what she does for a living Grin

MamaLazarou · 19/09/2015 12:50

Thanks LadyShirazz!

GudrunBrangwen · 19/09/2015 12:53

Brew there you go. It's an honour Smile

I like Wannabe too. We disagree as well but she is straightforward and no mind games.

I like to think I am reasonable most of the time but I find I can descend into impatient and cutting on occasion at which point I often name change and start over...Blush

Twatters · 19/09/2015 13:00

I'm envious of LiesorVonTwat I wish I had thought of it, as I'm a regular nc but for the chatty threads I like to have a twat in there, and I do 'sing' some sound of music on some threadsGrin

TheStripyGruffalo · 19/09/2015 13:16

InTheBox Use Google to help you Grin

MardyBra · 19/09/2015 14:00

I saw DonkeyOaty the other day which made me genuinely lol.

The fishy one does some good puns too.

Thanks to whoever upthread said they liked my name. I do like a good pun.

damselinthisdress · 19/09/2015 14:11

I name change regularly, but it takes me a while to think of new names! I like wordplay but also things that bear some relevance to my life (obscure things that won't out me.)

GoringBit · 19/09/2015 14:14

Gudrun and Show, Two if by Sea is a film, but it might refer to Henry Longfellow's poem about Paul Revere's ride, 'One if by Land, Two if by Sea', - it was how Revere sent a simple light signal to the patriots indicating how British troops were advancing to Concord. One light if by land, two if by sea.

Hygge makes me think aww why didn't I think of that. Then it makes me smile. Cant really be translated properly but closest is cosy.

ssd · 19/09/2015 14:26

I like my name, its the shortest one here, I think
