Mop and then Vacuum.

Unless you use a steam mop, then you may vacuum then mop. Other than that no excuses. Vacuuming then mopping is the wrong way round.

Grin at eight floors.

Op I think you're a bit mad.

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 16:41

I'm not mad.

I'm a lone voice of reason against a tide of unsuitable floor cleaning.

I was forced to try vacuuming before mopping.

I had to fucking vacuum again.

honey I'm with you Grin

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 16:42

I have seven hard floors in that case

OP posts:
WaggleBee · 14/09/2015 16:42

My thrilling task of the day is now going to be vacuuming the hard floors instead of breaking my back sweeping up.

So despite the unanimous YABU verdict, thank you for sharing.

CatEyeFlick · 14/09/2015 16:43

i agree OP

I work as a cleaner, its the ONLY way

the mop cleans and also makes all the dust and bits come up IYSWIM ready for hoovering

Whatevva · 14/09/2015 16:43

First you sweep up the bits that are too big for the vacuum cleaner (like gravel and leaves in our house Hmm) then you vacuum up the dust. Then you mop. Otherwise you are just wetting the dust and leaving it in the corners to set like concrete and build up each time you do it.

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 16:43

Ahem reissued statement

I'm part of a duet voice of reason Grin

the OP is 2 thirds right
it is vac,mop,vac

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 16:46

I don't think some off you are mopping properly. You're just swishing it around aren't you?

OP posts:
MelanieCheeks · 14/09/2015 16:47

How does one mop properly, then?

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 16:50

If you're swirling your mop you won't get crap in the corners it comes out of the corners and waits politely for the vacuum. That you use AFTERWARD.

OP posts:
AdoraBell · 14/09/2015 16:52

I can find the mop bucket since DH buried it in the garage before pissing off abroad for work, so I'll be vacuuming then moving a wet towel around the floor with my foot. So there.

VulcanWoman · 14/09/2015 16:52

Hoover then mop.

BoSelectaBigBiff · 14/09/2015 16:56

Grin at wagglebee - enjoy your hoovering!

And then mop afterwards, of course.

Vacuum and mop! No argument whatsoever!

WhatTheJeffHasGoneOnHere · 14/09/2015 17:00

I've got a swanky Miele with a hard floor setting so no excuses

I've got one of these, it's brilliant . Hoover then mop, although I have to confess I don't mop much (I do Hoover).

randomsabreuse · 14/09/2015 17:00

Vacuum, mop, vacuum sadly. Or in new house sweep, laminate spray. Vacuum only really "allowed" on carpets - grippy lino doesn't like hoover either!

Littlefluffyclouds81 · 14/09/2015 17:01

Surely you're not supposed to vacuum wet floors? So cleaning the floor would become a 2 hour job while you have to wait for the floor to dry first? I don't get it.

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 17:07

Erm no. It doesn't in crease the time spent doing it. Do you wash your floor then crouch in the corner with the mop till its dried Fluffy?

You vacuum once it's dried, and it takes less time to vacuum.

OP posts:
Whatevva · 14/09/2015 17:15

No - I don't get it either - but then I don't have any crap in the corners either.

Vacuum, mop then bugger off for the afternoon. I'm certainly not waiting for it to dry to vacuum it again Hmm

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 14/09/2015 17:15

Hoover, mop, Hoover here. I have a dog and a toddler, if I mopped before hoovering id be smushing dog hairs and raspberries round my floor! Agree the mop unearths bits the Hoover missed first time though, so it has to end with a Hoover.
