Mop and then Vacuum.

Unless you use a steam mop, then you may vacuum then mop. Other than that no excuses. Vacuuming then mopping is the wrong way round.

If I mop then Hoover, I can hear all little gritty bits getting dragged over the tiles. The thought of it is making me fucking angry Angry????

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2015 19:49

Mopping before hoovering means dead spiders in the mop bucket.

These then disintegrate and spider bits are spread everywhere.

Hoover up the spiders THEN mop.

AdoraBell · 14/09/2015 20:00

Seamstress I have dogs and the bastards drop so much hair that if I didn't Hoover then all I could hope to achieve would be moving hair ball A to hair ball D's position, hair ball D to hair ball Z21178's position and so on. So vacuuming as well as moping will continue here unless I shave the dogs

JassyRadlett · 14/09/2015 20:04

Christ, your mop must be minging by the end of it. And I suspect your vacuum is rubbish (or your vacuuming technique needs work Grin).

bonzo77 · 14/09/2015 20:08

You are all wrong. wrong. WRONG!!! I tell you.

E-Mop. That's it. Just water. No detergent. No vac. It sweeps as it cleans. Then you pick all the bits up with a bit of kitchen paper. Dries in minutes. No smears.

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 20:13

I have a Miele and my lightest of grey carpets is clean so her with your libellous vacuum accusations. Grin

Barry Scott takes care of all my grime-busting woes.

He bangs and then he's gone.

OolonColluphid · 14/09/2015 20:33

Cleaner here-dust, Hoover, mop, brush any last bits that got stuck to your socks off into mop bucket, empty it. Occasionally followed by a special old towel on floor shoogle dance to dry it if it's glossy.

MissShunImpossible · 14/09/2015 21:52

I'm liking the sound of this Emop. Also of the old towel shoogle dance, despite not having shiny tiles.

definiteissues · 14/09/2015 22:07

Hoover mop sweep.
I do not see the point of mop hoover. All the crap is all stuck in the mop then, yuk

littlefrenchonion · 14/09/2015 22:15

You wouldn't last a day at my veterinary practice! The nurses would send you packing. First rule of cleaning: remove organic material, then disinfect. I have a textbook that proves it. Sorry OP, you are gloriously wrong!

Ew, so there is hairy, crumby, dead skin cell-y, bacteria riddled brown water dried onto your floors? Grim!

queenMab99 · 14/09/2015 22:15

I am an open minded sort, so I will try mopping first tomorrow, I have recently been converted to flat mops, and have to admit they are cleaner and more efficient. I think I need to get a life........

QOD · 14/09/2015 22:15

Vac n mop ... you're cray cray

OfficeGirl1969 · 14/09/2015 22:16

Sweep then mop, always. Lumps of mud/clods of grass, stones etc, clog up the Hoover otherwise, so it's the broom first. Then mop, most days with the mop and bucket and flash, and once a week with the steam mop instead.

2rebecca · 14/09/2015 22:42

Vacuum first to remove hairs and dust then clean the floor with mop or cloth to wipe off stains/ sticky bits/ polish it. If you have to vacuum once you've mopped/ washed the floor then you aren't cleaning it properly and just have one of those silly mops that just move the dirt from one place to another.

2rebecca · 14/09/2015 22:45

We are a no shoe house though so no lumps of mud and for our 3 stone areas I usually hand wash them rather than mop. Mopping is just for the floorboards and they only need mopped once every month or so.
