To loathe Fiona Bruce

Can't stand her, really cannot abide her. Her tone of voice, her turn of phrase. She is on now, doing some sort of Queen themed Antiques roadshow - makes we want to barf.

AH, I love Fiona.YABU.

BrucieTheShark · 13/09/2015 20:21

She makes me shudder and I'm not quite sure why.

Michael Ball used to have a similar effect on me years ago when he was all shiny and cheerful.

I suspect they are the lizard people that David Icke used to speak of. Or is it scientologists?

Boardingblues · 13/09/2015 20:22

Are you her mother?

OP posts:
BaxterDawes · 13/09/2015 20:22

Poor harmless Fiona!

I like her. Although I am slightly irritated by the way she shakes her head from side to side when she speaks.

BrucieTheShark · 13/09/2015 20:22

Omg I have named myself after her by mistake. Her evil powers know no bounds.

Shutthatdoor · 13/09/2015 20:24

I don't mind her. My DH on the other hand really doesn't Wink

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 13/09/2015 20:24

Michael Ball has the ew affect on me.

Fiona Bruce has the gene that means she'll never get fat, no matter what she eats. True fact. She was tested on some diet programme she did. SO I kinda hate her that Grin

Boardingblues · 13/09/2015 20:28

Lizard people! That is it!

She is one of those people who tries so hard to be "normal" that you can tell that she does not believe it and is convinced of her own superiority.

Oh and I HATE how she dresses.

OP posts:
ShooBeeDooBeeDoo · 13/09/2015 20:29

She wore massive heels to meet the teeny queen.

Off with her head!

CheekyMaleekey · 13/09/2015 20:30

Those eyebrows. Shudder.

UrbaneFox · 13/09/2015 20:30

lol at her never getting fat! that's really annoying all right.

I like her for speaking out about domestic abuse. She was very supportive to her friend who married an abusive man. A lot of women in the media with a career to protect would have just stayed quiet. So on balance, I say good for her. she dresses older than she is though.

Gruntfuttock · 13/09/2015 20:32

I've got that programme on now and I think Fiona Bruce seems very nice. She is well-groomed and elegant and has a very warm and pleasant manner. Her voice doesn't grate on me. I don't understand why anyone would find her loathsome. I would like to be more like her to be honest.

SirChenjin · 13/09/2015 20:32

I like her, even though she scares me. She would have been the very sensible Head Girl at school, and would have shot me withering glances on a regular basis.

LockedBox · 13/09/2015 20:32

Oh man.

I can't BEAR her. It's awful because I feel like I should like her because she's a pretty great feminist and seems to be an all round good egg but...

She is so fucking smug. SMUG. And she wears the most incredibly terrible clothes. And her hair is so dreadful and ageing.

I know I shouldn't care about these things but she drives me crackers Hmm

I'm sorry Fiona. [ashamed]

Boardingblues · 13/09/2015 20:37

Lizard eyebrows! The mention of Micheal Ball is weird, because they do provoke the same degree of shudder for me. I always imagine that she has to practice being empathetic, that actually she has no concept. Right now I am trying to work out if I hate her more when she is doing light stuff such as Antiques Roadshow or when she is doing seriously bad news.

She seems so fake, so cold, so???? frigid

Sparklingbrook · 13/09/2015 20:38

YABU.

InternationalEspionage · 13/09/2015 20:40

I also loathe her. When I hear the term national treasure applied in her direction I feel embarrassed for the entire nation.

It's because she makes me think snobbish thoughts : I despise her pseudo intellectual poshness because it's laughably transparent. And, shamefully, I kind of despise people that dont see through that and conclude that they can't be that thick so must think it's ok. I'm not a snob at all, normally. She brings out the worst in me.

HannahHobbins · 13/09/2015 20:41

She always wear a really nice necklace, a star with a diamond in the middle.

I always thought she was quite nice?! Bland but harmless, I need to look more closely obviously!!

Boardingblues · 13/09/2015 20:45

International - Yes! Yes! Yes! That is it! Thank you! I am not alone.

OP posts:
Gruntfuttock · 13/09/2015 20:54

Wow! So much venom and viciousness towards someone you've never met. Anyone would think she'd committed a crime. She's just a presenter on TV. Calm down.

godsavethequeeeen · 13/09/2015 20:58

Is she still wearing that giant white watch? Could be a Chanel for all I know but it always jars with her presenting clothes and I get terribly distracted.

ifancyagreencard · 13/09/2015 20:59

HUGE stealth boast - DD took her for a tour around school on Open Day. She was apparently "totally lovely" . . . . . .

InimitableJeeves · 13/09/2015 21:00

What's she actually done to you to deserve this?

BrendaandEddie · 13/09/2015 21:01

oh this will be deleted as mysoginistic

its shit

no one can slag on mumsnet these days without having some huge agenda

I send my condolences OP

BestIsWestOfGallifrey · 13/09/2015 21:04

I really, really like her and I love her clothes. YABU.
