Can't stand her, really cannot abide her. Her tone of voice, her turn of phrase. She is on now, doing some sort of Queen themed Antiques roadshow - makes we want to barf.

I don't know her, so have no idea whether I'd like her or not.

I do think she's a good presenter though.

This kind of thread is why I am glad that I am not any kind of public figure. 'Like her' - FFS Hmm

triathlon · 13/09/2015 21:10

I like her. She seems friendly and confident, not smug. There are people on TV I like far less!

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 13/09/2015 21:12

No problem with Fiona Bruce either way. The vacuous Tess Daly /holly wlloughby / fern cotton conglomerate on the other hand...

overthemill · 13/09/2015 21:15

I think she's very nice. I have met her and she was totally normal not 'celeb' in any way and chatted just like anyone else did at the event ( a birthday party for a mutual friends child in a sorts centre). I didn't even realise who she was until afterwards. So she may seem horrid on TV but in RL she's perfectly pleasant - and kind

BestIsWestOfGallifrey · 13/09/2015 21:16

Ok, I meant that I like her in terms of that I like to watch her on TV. Obviously I have no idea what she's like in real life.

Boardingblues · 13/09/2015 21:17

No agenda, she was on, she makes me think bad thoughts. True she provokes a disproportionate reaction in me. But provoke it she does. She is obviously my marmite.

oh you can SAY that

in a minute everyone will be on to say what a cow and sexist shite you are, etc

Tis the rules

IJustLostTheGame · 13/09/2015 21:19

Classic head girl type. I will never be like her. I love her.

Sparklingbrook · 13/09/2015 21:19

I don't see the issue with her, there are loads of other that make me shout at the TV.

Boardingblues · 13/09/2015 21:23

Oh yes, I forget, sexism is a la mode at the moment! Nothing at all to do with her being a woman. I think part of my annoyance with her is that there are better presenters and she seems to get too much screen time on the BBC. It is as if she is the prime female presenter and I really cannot understand why.

Beansprout30 · 13/09/2015 21:23

I quite like her, what I do hate though is the same presenters used over and over, matt bloody baker, gabby logan, dermot o'leary..I begin to dislike them because they are everywhere!!

turdfairynomore · 13/09/2015 21:34

She did a programme on discovering if paintings were real or fake a little while ago I think? The people she presented it alongside were such a fabulous "match" for her? One was an antique dealer? Or art dealer? And the other was an "art sleuth" for want of a better title? And he had a wonderfully "posh" name?? Maybe Benoit?? They just all seemed to belong together somehow?? It was like the perfect Blue Peter team for the titled and entitled! I loved it because it was so far removed from my reality!!

Sparklingbrook · 13/09/2015 21:36

I liked it when the paintings turned out to be fake turd.

lalalonglegs · 13/09/2015 22:03

Oh, I like her - lovely deep voice, very professional (I hear from people in the industry), seems very intelligent and (clincher) speaks French and Italian very well. I haven't noticed her clothes particularly - just the fact that she has that sort of enviable Parisian thinness and can team a formal jacket with jeans and a scarf and get away with it Envy.

I really loved Fake or Fortune. I used to boo when they mentioned the Wildenstein Institute (over-invested)...

ilovechristmas123 · 13/09/2015 22:13

she lives in a 8 million pound house

BBC must pay well

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 13/09/2015 22:16

Strong, feminist, professional woman, and people are slagging her off for

  • her clothes
  • her looks
  • the sound of her voice
  • her success

Nice to see the sisterhood sticking together Hmm

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 13/09/2015 22:18

And she is nice and normal IRL. I know her a little bit.

RomComPhooey · 13/09/2015 22:23

I have no personal experience of her and she seems very professional. I read somewhere she's referred to as 'Lady Macbeth' at the BBC, so maybe she's a real hard nut in a professional context. I can't help envying her for the skinny gene.

Marshy · 13/09/2015 22:29

Successful professional woman who seems quite likeable.

Leave her alone ffs...

stupidgreatgrinonmyface · 13/09/2015 22:29

DH had dealings with her a few years ago as part of his job. Suffice to say, that anytime she appears on a TV channel we are watching, it is swiftly turned over or even off until she has finished. DH is a very mild mannered person and rarely expresses an unkind opinion about anyone. He swears when he sees her.

BelindaBagwash · 13/09/2015 22:32

I think she's very plain-looking with boring hair and a not very well-defined dress sense.

Not a woman I'd particularly want to look like - but then she probably wouldn't want to look like me!

BrendaandEddie · 13/09/2015 22:33

Op. I TOLD YOU

Smutlins · 13/09/2015 22:35

DH and I met her at an event and she was very pleasant. She made time to chat to people, wasn't at all stuck up or stand off-ish, and came across as a really nice person. DH has a soft spot for her and had himself a bashful moment, she told him to "man up, chappie" :o

BackforGood · 13/09/2015 22:36

When reading the news, whoever does her makeup needs to have a word. Really weird eyebrows, etc. Just makes her look odd.
Yet recently, when she was 'on location', and hadn't been near the BBC makeup studios, she just looked SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better, and has - who would believe it? - a really normal - dare I say attractive face.

Smutlins · 13/09/2015 22:38

Do you not think though that, in order to get ahead and progress in a typicqlly male dominated career, she needs to have an element of hardness about her? Especially when the main reasons people seem to have for not liking her are that she has boring hair, weird eyebrows, and is skinny Hmm
