To loathe Fiona Bruce

Can't stand her, really cannot abide her. Her tone of voice, her turn of phrase. She is on now, doing some sort of Queen themed Antiques roadshow - makes we want to barf.

OP posts:

She's the sexiest thing! Intelligent, tall, small breasts, natural...if I was bi-sexual I'd go for her.

TheOddity · 13/09/2015 22:42

She is my girl crush. She can speak fluent Italian and knows all about classical art. And attractive to boot. She can't help being posh.

SwedishEdith · 13/09/2015 22:42

"I think she's very plain-looking with boring hair and a not very well-defined dress sense." Care to post a picture of youself so we can all dissect it?

I can't see anything to dislike about her. And I'm always jealous of people who are fluent in more than one language.

SwedishEdith · 13/09/2015 22:44

The eyebrows are genetic Grin I remember her commenting and laughing about them of 'Who do you think you are?' when she saw a photo of some ancestor

AlpacaBackPack · 13/09/2015 22:49

YABU. Fiona Bruce is awesome. That is all.

beaglesaresweet · 13/09/2015 22:51

I really like Fiona, all about her in fact.
International, so just pseudo intellectualism (I don't think she pretends to be intellectual at all, she just reads the news - intelligent enough), or pseudo poshness? I thought she was 'posh' (hate the word).
I saw her in person on the filming of Roadshow - she is indeed VERY thin, but very at ease and relaxed with herself, and nothing was 'put-on' I'd say.

beaglesaresweet · 13/09/2015 22:52

Alpace, cross-post and then some, ha! exactly.

beaglesaresweet · 13/09/2015 22:52

Alpaca, obv.

UrbaneFox · 13/09/2015 23:15

geez...... what a thread. as for International, she's a presenter. She's not passing herself off as an academic. What is there to see through? you hold people who 'don't see through her' in contempt?! Seriously?!. You're over analysing her. you'll disappear up your own backside analysing a TV presenter. Is it worth it?

cyprian98 · 13/09/2015 23:32

I've been to her house and sat at her kitchen table with a coffee and a plate of custard creams. She's not a friend - we were booking her for an event and we couldn't find a date / place that suited so she invited us into her home.

Utterly charming and gracious although I was a little disappointed with custard creams...!

ToGoBoldly · 13/09/2015 23:39

Yabu, she's a goddess

CatMilkMan · 13/09/2015 23:40

I like the name Fiona.
I don't like the name Bruce.

I don't like the word boarding.
I like the word blues.

I like the word abide, I agree with OP. Fuck Bruce.

HoneyDragon · 13/09/2015 23:44

THERE'S A GENE THAT MEANS YOU DONT GET FAT?!

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 13/09/2015 23:52

Oh yes, Honeydragon, and Fiona has it. Are you pissed off now? Grin

For disclosure, I still love FB.

TheSpectator · 14/09/2015 09:00

YANBU I can't stand her and won't watch any programme with her in it which is a shame since I used to love Antiques Roadshow. The only exception was watching her interview Prince Philip for his 90th birthday - he didn't seem too impressed and made her look ridiculous.

InimitableJeeves · 14/09/2015 11:22

she lives in a 8 million pound house

BBC must pay well

Quite apart from the fact that you've got this off a newspaper website where it is notorious that, for the famous, when it comes to estimating house prices they think of a number and add a nought or three ...

How do you know her husband has contributed nothing to their house purchase?

SconeForAStroll · 14/09/2015 11:29

I think she seems pretty nice. Clever, quite funny, attractive.

We liked that art programme too - the dc were v.impressed that they recognised the Chagall stained glass in Reims Cathedral due to that!

Whathaveilost · 14/09/2015 11:34

What the hell!
Bloody nasty, unnecessary and pointless thread.

squoosh · 14/09/2015 11:50

It's her voice, almost as though she's playing herself in a French and Saunders sketch.

I don't mind her though, she seems like decent sort. I love Fake or Fortune and am impressed by her French and Italian.

FyreFly · 14/09/2015 13:22

I don't dislike her, but she seems to be everywhere at the moment and all I can think is "FGS not Fiona Bruce again". There are many talented TV presenters out there, could they get a look in?

treaclesoda · 14/09/2015 13:26

I quite like Fiona Bruce as a presenter, and she is clearly very articulate and intelligent.

However, I don't like her newsreading style, she seems a little bit dramatic and quite often sounds a little bit, well, judgemental, as she reads the news story.

AnnieNon · 14/09/2015 13:34

There is nothing wrong with her at all but I always turn over the TV when she comes on. [sorry]. I think it's her voice and posh BBC royalty vibe.
I feel a bit mean now that I think of it as I can't see she does anything wrong. She is friendly to people when she talks to them. I think I'll have to revise my negative thoughts Blush

I saw a picture of her house online - I think she is objecting to flats being built behind it - it's an absolutely beautiful London house.
