Overly threatening sign on public road

Was just out cycling and came across this. Seems quite threatening to me and as I was on my own I turned back even though I needed to go down it to complete the loop I'd planned.

Oh come on. There's bound to be a series of them leading to a pub or restaurant or something and when you get there it will say "don't say we didn't warn you! Now you'll have to try our 9.99 carvery or be doomed!" or some shit.
