To complain about lidl girl rolling her eyes at me twice

I usually only pop in for a few things. But did a huge shop because of a voucher.

When it came to paying she mumbled "would you like a free sticky toy" I could hardly hear this, asked her to repeat it politely. Then I said sorry what is that, she rolled her eyes at me, turned around rolled her eyes at a colleague and said "its a toy when you spend over 10". I get she must get that a lot, but if she didn't mumble or they had signs up about this promotion it wouldn't confuse people. I've never heard of it before.

noeffingidea - your post has just reminded me of a lovely assistant that served me in a 99p shop. He was a young Polish guy who was helpful, polite and provided service with a smile.

Minimum wage or not, politeness cost nothing and if you are in a customer facing role then you you need to remain so.

I've worked in shops and behinds bars and many a time I had to smile and grit my teeth and then disappear into the stock room and scream or moan about rude customers

Seriously, do you have nothing else to worry about?

SouthernShepherdess · 05/09/2015 11:37

This hardly warrants a complaint to management, but I can understand how rude she was when you only asked her to repeat herself, no doubt amongst all the noise anyway. It was wrong of her and rude. I would have just said calmly, "There is no need to roll your eyes like that. It's the first time I've heard about these sticky toys", is all that was needed. Maybe it was the time of the month!

Of course she wasn't being rude OP! Now, if it had been your MiL you'd have been told to never let this toxic narc be alone with your kids and you should go NC immediately. In the real world she was rude and I would have called her on it.

Gosh I didn't even complain when the checkout assistant was swearing repeatedly as she scanned my shopping the other week. I suspect she wont last long.....

We love the Stickees. and the nice ladies in our Lidl always give us 2 (and actually gave one to DS2 when I was only spending £3 the other day).

Got the Glow in the Dark Shark today and a Sea Cucumber...

I wouldn't complain. I think everyone should be allowed to have an off-day: no-one's perfect. If I was feeling similarly grumpy myself I would have called her on it there and then, which would be a more proportionate response than going to management.
