Blackadder

Am I being unreasonable to not want them to bother making a new series of Blackadder? The series set in the First World War was quite lame compared to the others and the millennium episode was far from tv gold.

I'm a massive Blackadder fan. It'll depend what era they set it in and the original actors need to be used (obviously no lord flash unfortunately you can't re cast that one)

RokensWife · 24/08/2015 15:04

I think the first series is hugely underrated - possibly because the dynamics are different. A intelligent Baldrick and a stupid Blackadder! The WW1 series irritated me with its constant Ben Elton one liners.

The Mr Bean autism thing I LOVE Mr Bean and my son has ASD....but does nobody get that Mr Bean is supposed to be an alien?
See the beginning of the episodes when he is dropped to earth......

MadeMan · 25/08/2015 19:57

They should do a spooky vampires/halloween themed one with a Count Blackadder or something.

ForalltheSaints · 25/08/2015 20:07

I don't think it should come back. Let's remember the good series they were.

BigRedBall · 25/08/2015 20:19

ppeatfruit I've been trying to upload this for you for a day now. Here's goes...just for you Wink

Am I alone in thinking a glam rock 60's/70's band series could be quite good? They could get Richard E Grant involved (a la Withnail) and stomp about in unnecessary leather coats and nail varnish.

EponasWildDaughter · 25/08/2015 20:46

Maybe they should do a prequel and do something pre medieval. Roman Empire/Life of Brian sort of time?

I can see BA, permanently grumpy, as a wealthy Roman's butler Grin

PleaseLetThisNameChangeWork · 26/08/2015 10:13

I agree that it does always seem to be Tony Robinson who tries to whip these stories up. I reckon he just likes the attention it brings him.

MadeMan · 26/08/2015 21:04

Maybe then Tony Robinson would be happy if they did a Blackadder series where they go to some posh manor house and dig up the front garden with a JCB to look for old bones and broken pots.

blackadder no.5 set in the LSO where conductor ba is trying to finish his 5th symphony and taking 30 years to do so,baldrick plays the triangle .etc.
5 stars blackadder set in a 1980's michelin restaurant etc ( yes i know mic is only three but there was rumours at the time twas going up to 5 )

WitchOfAlba · 29/08/2015 10:04

YANBU. Blackadder series 2 was the best and it went downhill after that, added to which Blackadder without Rik Mayall wouldn't seem the same somehow.

MadeMan · 29/08/2015 18:41

"Blackadder without Rik Mayall wouldn't seem the same somehow."

Stanky · 30/08/2015 08:25

They should really just leave it. I wish that people could come up with more new ideas.

Mainkster · 01/09/2015 16:35

I fear a Red Dwarf situation, too much time has passed and it just won't work .

Loved BA but I'm not sure it can live in 2015

ppeatfruit · 02/09/2015 14:00

BigRedBall Flowers Thank you Grin

Unmarried1 · 02/09/2015 18:56

The ending of series 4 and how poignant it was is all anyone ever talks about.

I am pretty sure the series 2 episode 'Potato' with Captain Rum cannot be beaten.

@The MoonOnaAstick15. I agree but apart from "Don't tell him Pike" was it really worth watching. I always thought 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' was much better.

Unmarried1 · 02/09/2015 19:04

It is a real shame that Captain Flashheart could not return but in how many episodes did he feature ?

MARTIN1 · 02/09/2015 19:27

Unmarried I will guess at three episodes. Poke my eye out and cut off my arm if I'm wrong

A worthy winner, many contraflabularitees to you

MARTIN1 · 02/09/2015 19:47

Contrafibularities are of no use to me... I want to be remembered when I'm dead. I want books written about me. I want songs sung about me. And then, hundreds of years from now, I want episodes of my life to be played out weekly at 9:30 by some great heroic actor of the age

CalmYourselfTubbs · 02/09/2015 21:29

The second series was the best one. The third series was the second best.

CalmYourselfTubbs · 02/09/2015 21:31

Captain Rum was fab.
"AHHHHHRRRRRRRAHHHRRRRRRAAARRRR............ me laddy!"

Unmarried1 · 03/09/2015 00:37

Why bother with all that when you can earn a fortune on your back.

Aye he was a third rate captain but a first rate socond course

So you don't know the way to France either ?
