I'd like to know who the moderators are.

Normally in our county, the police would simply despatch unarmed PCSOs to investigate.

Twunk · 20/08/2015 18:08

Netmums and bounty have not been hacked because they're not very good and really lack the cultural and political impact that MN has. Nowt to do with bullying or man-hating.

schlong · 20/08/2015 18:10

And tethersend? Where she? Foxytocin? Sorry to reminisce. Just to stay onthread I will pronounce that 20 an obnoxious fuckwit though. Who absolutely cannot write for toffee. Unlike the fragrant MmeLindt. Any chance of some free Swiss choc? Beatrix you share my dd's name. Xcellent choice. Tbh I find MN lovely.

Twunk · 20/08/2015 18:12

Oh Cote I can't even be bothered to read it in full. It's so dull. This happened, then this happened, then this happened and then this happened and....

CoteDAzur · 20/08/2015 18:12

Actually, I'll edit one of those sentences further:

... the post that Typecast made wrote when she first joined..

... because you don't make posts. You write them.

Twunk - I didn't read it all, either. That was just the first couple of sentences, followed by these gems:

"You know me though, readers. I am willing to give anyone a chance to prove themselves different. I like to make up my own mind."

"I was kind, jokey, and fitted in. "

I'm sure you were and you did, honey Grin That must be why MN loved you so.

SuffolkNWhat · 20/08/2015 18:16

The Bounty thing was the Bounty Mutiny, spearheaded by MN, to raise awareness of Bounty's practice on post-natal wards, data fishing by using the child benefit form as a bribe etc.

Some of us were using Twitter to help spread that campaign. 20something didn't like it one bit so she started the Say No to Bounty Mutiny campaign which didn't garner as much support and was increasingly hostile on Twitter to those of us using the facts from polls etc to spread the message.

Twunk · 20/08/2015 18:17

I've never "blogged" as I know I would be tedious and I have nothing of interest to say. I didn't know that needn't be a bar.

ginslinger · 20/08/2015 18:17

I haven't seen a good scrap about mumsnet royalty for a good while

I may start something in AIBU for the crack

Anyway Maryz, I was worried about you being locked out - thought you may have had to engage with your family Grin

Runningupthathill82 · 20/08/2015 18:20

BRILLIANT!! Just read that blogpost and discovered she's the poster who complained about her daughter being allowed to do school swimming in the winter.
This is starting to make a lot more sense. Though her recollections of all these old threads are very different to mine.

"The first thread I ever saw or commented on was the very well known in blogging circles post which Typecast made when she joined."

Well known? I move in blogging circles, and have since a time when blogs didn't even have a name. I've never heard of either of these people.

ginslinger · 20/08/2015 18:26

Hopefully it won't happen again before new year's eve, Mary.

ginslinger · 20/08/2015 18:28

Aren't blogs a bit 'turn-of-the-century' - surely it's all vlogging now.

Queenbean · 20/08/2015 18:32

Thanks Suffolk!

I don't agree with her at all, but editing her posts is pretty nasty. The first edit doesn't really make sense either.

howtorebuild · 20/08/2015 18:34

At least CoteDAzur gave constructive criticism, so she understands why her English is considered poor.

Runningupthathill82 · 20/08/2015 18:34

Maryz - yes, that's the one. She got very worked up when people pointed out that swimming in a pool when it's cold outside wouldn't harm anyone.

And then it seems she PMd one of the posters who was telling her she was overreacting, ordering them not to comment on her threads any more. (It wasn't me she PMd, by the way...)

FarFromAnyRoad · 20/08/2015 18:36

Sorry if I'm being dense here but is there a link to the original thread that caused this long lasting trauma in the 20 person? I'd like to read it to better understand how something so ordinaire can trigger the bitterness that sticks to the blogger like shit to a blanket! Thanks if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Fiderer · 20/08/2015 18:36

schlong Mme is now MmeLindor and is around but doesn't post as much. Saw her in the last day or two though.

See tethersend now and again.

JeffreyNeedsAHobby · 20/08/2015 18:37

Interesting that her posts took the thread off topic of victim blaming MN to her feeling she was a 'victim' of MN (or it seems one or two posters who disagreed with her).
I'm not sure blogging is a suitable occupation for someone who isn't happy with being disagreed with. But ho-hum, now she is Defender of The ChanIverse she can see what happens when people in that area get hold of a single mother voicing her opinions! I feel a little sorry for her. Not sure she realises what she is getting herself into siding with the Dark Side...

"Aren't blogs a bit 'turn-of-the-century' - surely it's all vlogging now."

Blogs are still a thing. On the whole though they tend to be used as CMS, rather than personal journals. I think people who did use them as journals tend to be on other platforms now. But, a lot of news, entertainment and long form article sites are actually blogs, they just don't look like one.
