Those red plastic lidded Pyrex dishes on offer from tesco's a while back with tokens .

Actually I did once have a very useful kitchen gadget but I don't know what it was called.

It was black and looked like a huge old fashioned orange squeezer only it had blades in and a white container full of other blades and a sausage maker a potato ricer and peeler, it suctioned to the kitchen side I brought it about 15-20 years ago from a fairly obscure shopping channel.

It was brilliant but I accidently threw it away one day

Hand blender, makes sauces/curry sauce really easy with this.

Cheese slicer so easy for cheese toasties or sandwiches.

Slow cooker in winter, I love coming home to a ready cooked meal.

Sgtmajormummy · 18/08/2015 21:50

Microwave
Double ended potato peeler/vegetable knife
Stick blender

Can I put in a special mention for my newest gadget, the Samsung Smart Oven? It really is smart once you've read the instructions about 3 times.
Perfect roast chicken in 34 minutes antbody?

very good knife
Japanese mandoline
potato ricer

vienna1981 · 18/08/2015 22:16

Brita Maxtra water filter jug

At least one quality multi purpose sharp knife

A kettle. Indispensable

Buxtonstill · 18/08/2015 22:32

George Foreskin Grill. Use it 4-5 times a week.
Silicone tongs.
Jug that separates fat from meat juices to make healthier gravy.

Madamacadamia · 18/08/2015 22:51

Jar key (but don't get a transparent one like mine, which disappears in the drawer full of rarely used other things)

Slow cooker

Collapsible mixing bowl - fab space saver.

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/08/2015 22:52

Would you like to re read that buxton Grin

MrsMcColl · 18/08/2015 23:28

Minichopper.
Rice cooker.
Little doodah from Lakeland that neatly removes the stalks from strawberries. (Okay maybe not totally essential on life. But very pleasingly handy nonetheless.)

Does anyone else find their cakes burn with silicone cake tins?

DeeWe · 18/08/2015 23:43

Foreskin Grin

Fluffyears · 19/08/2015 00:42

Garlic pressed (mine doesn't waste any), rotary grater saves loads of time, good knife and electric tin opener.

Never use a foreskin grill and can't see the menfolk liking that idea Grin

DrDiva · 19/08/2015 00:46

stratters I have the opposite problem. Cakes in silicon come out a soggy mess. Dunno what I'm doing wrong.

Fatmomma99 · 19/08/2015 00:50

A fridge!

FFS, what is wrong with you, people!

ChilliAndMint · 19/08/2015 00:54

Stick blender and mini processor from Aldi, fancy grater, 30 year old wok.

Taps
Bin
Mop

SiobhanSharpe · 19/08/2015 01:01

Somewhat agog at all the essential rice cookers. Cooking rice is a piece of piss, isn't it?
wouldn't give one shelf space

But a mini-chopper, stick blender and a good knife, well, now you're talking. And I speak as someone who owns most of the Lakeland catalogue.

Thought the thread was about gadgets, fatmomma -' does a fridge really fit into that category?

xalyssx · 19/08/2015 01:02

Slow cooker
Wok
That's about it!

Fatmomma99 · 19/08/2015 01:38

Of course a fridge is a gadget, Siobahan. What else would you describe it as? A sofa????
