MIDDLE NAMES

To think middle names, serve no useful purpose and are given by pretentious parents to include older relatives names or because you couldn't agree with your partner on just one forename.

MWE describe it thus:

Name, Middle
The name you try to hide because it is so crap. Often it is a name that has been passed from generation to generation through the family and which you have been given to keep your granny happy. This knowledge is sod all use when you are having the shit kicked out of you in the playground for being called Windermere.

I agree.

I knew I was in trouble if my mum said my name instead of my sister's or the cat's but I knew I was really going to cop it if I got Fenella Ursulie Castiliana Karina Fellorick.

That was hide under the bed time, that was.

OP you come across in a way that is not going to endear you to other people, with your oh-so-generous plan that your DP could only name a boy and that you would veto any middle name.

Still, I imagine it's not really an issue because you may struggle to find a DP who would want to have a child with you.

Fenella I used to get called by the cats' names too Grin

Grin mad, isn't it?

My mum used to run through about six names before getting to me. I wouldn't mind but 5 of them were cats!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 18/08/2015 17:44

Half of our cats were boys as well Grin In fact her colleagues thought she had sons as well as a daughter as she was always talking about them - I realised very early on my place in the pecking order Grin

Grin ha! yes, I can relate. Me too!

One of my friends has 4 middle names as they are from posh stock. I don't know the rationale as their parents are dead but they could have been using the names to be pretentious. Friend with said names is not.

Middle names offer options and alternatives and can be used to commemorate those we've loved and lost.
