This is excluding getting children ready. Just you, from shower to hair, makeup (if you wear it) etc - especially if you work. I feel that I take too long. Seems to be about an hour and a bit and I am always rushing. My routine is something like this:

Up, shower, brush teeth (10-15m)
Choose clothes and get dressed (15m ish)
Make a coffee, drink whilst doing makeup (20m)
Dry / style hair (20m)
Run about looking for things and trying to leave (10m)

Where am I going wrong?! Always late and don't want to get up earlier!

I am up and left in half an hour.

I don't know how I do it as it takes hours at the weekend.

ziggyziggy · 07/08/2015 19:09

god i was thinking about this today, I have a rare DS free day and took hours. I'm not a morning person so it takes me 15 minutes to haul myself from bed, 15 minutes for a coffee, 15 mins to drink / on internet, 20 mins to shower, teeth etc, 15 mins to do hair / get dressed, 15 mins another coffee, 15 mins on internet, 15 mins to sort everything to go out! It takes hours....

this is a day off though, other days probably more or less depending on DS. I like a sloooow start to the day.

That said if I need to rush I can do it all in about 30 - 45 mins.

Plateofcrumbs · 07/08/2015 19:18

I used to be able to take ages pre DC. Have just started back at work post-DC and it is currently taking about 1hr 15mins but that includes BFing DS who likes to takes his time, and allowing a decent amount of slack (have a train to catch so cannot risk running late).

Spend 10mins showering and changing (outfits pre-planned and laid out at start of week) whilst DS plays in cot. 5 mins on hair and make up (wash and dry hair in evenings). 10mins making coffee and toast to go and packing bag (phone, packed lunch etc). So about 25mins on myself, rest of time feeding, changing DS, cleaning his teeth, sorting his breakfast and hopefully a few minutes to play before we head to childminder.

Sazzle41 · 07/08/2015 19:21

25-30mins. 5mins shower, 5-10min get dressed /cleanse & moisturise while kettle boils. 10mins drink coffee/do face. 5mins hair (its poker straight anyway so all it needs is quick onceover with straightener)

Get clothes out night before even knickers
Wash hair night before
Do foundation & blusher at home, rest when you get to work (inc teeth)
Fill kettle night before, put out mug
Put bag, keys. shoes by front door night before

Redglitter · 07/08/2015 19:36

I go from bed to car in 20 mins. That includes making my coffee to take with me.

YeOldeTrout · 07/08/2015 19:58

I am so not a morning person. Better than DC, but no way I could do something as complicated as make a cup of tea most mornings before I leave.

trilbydoll · 07/08/2015 20:05

I'm pretty quick, but I don't wear makeup or dry my hair. I run the bath while I eat breakfast, then 10 mins in the bath, 10 mins getting dressed, teeth, brush hair etc.

I can get me and 2 dc (2yo and 3m) bathed, dressed and out the door in an hour which I don't think is too bad. DD1 has to have a banana in the pushchair as breakfast though!

SnapesCapes · 07/08/2015 20:10

School mornings I'm in the shower by 6am, hair dry and dressed and makeup on by 6.30 so that I can get the obligatory cup of earl grey brewing before the DCs have to be up. Tomorrow's clothes are always removed from the wardrobe the night before so that I don't have to stress about outfit choices. DCs school/nursery bags and lunches are sorted the night before, too. Then I can spend 45 minutes each morning shouting "for the love of God, how can you have both lost your shoes in the space of twelve hours? You'd better bleeding well find them!"

Weekends and holidays I can piss about for hours getting ready. The DCs flatly refuse to get dressed a vast amount of the time during holidays, which makes mornings easier.

ohtheholidays · 07/08/2015 20:11

10 minutes,that's for a wash,getting dried,teeth brushed,deodrant on,perfume on,cleanse skin,underwear on,dressed,make-up and hair done.

20 -25 minutes with a shower and washing and drying my hair.

I used to take an absoloute age before I had children and could Faff for England,it could take me 2 hours at least.

As soon as the kids came along I found out just how quick I'd need to get ready.

GirlOverboard · 07/08/2015 20:16

I shower and wash/dry/straighten my hair in the evening. I'm not a morning person so I find it a lot less stressful to do it the night before.

Then I need at least 30 minutes in the morning to do my make-up, brush my teeth, do my hair and get dressed.

SaintEyning · 07/08/2015 20:22

I get up, loo, shower (inc hair wash and quick pit and leg shave as I either run, swim or cycle 6/7 days), moisturise face and body, get dressed (usually just a dress and cardi, bare legs atm as warm and sunny here but tights rest of time), leave hair to dry on its own, mascara and eyeliner if I have a meeting. Downstairs, cuppa and slice toast, out the door. 25 mins all in. If I have DS, I get his brekky and mine first, make his packed lunch, do the shower etc while he eats (more slowly than any child I have known) and then help him get dressed and clean his teeth. So 45 mins for that sort of day.

CuntWagon · 07/08/2015 20:26

I can do it in 15 minutes, including shower and make up (foundation, eyebrows, simple eyeshadow, mascara, lip balm or gloss) but I have the advantage of having curls that dry nicely with nothing done to them. So I wash in shower, then leave wet. I have an hour commute in London so it's air dried by the time I'm at work, even in winter. I dream of being a person that bothers to lay clothes out and make lunch the night before but never do it!

frumpet · 07/08/2015 21:02

About half an hour , get up make coffee , watch news for 10 minutes , make another coffee , watch news for another 10 minutes , have a cigarette (hidden round the side of the house ) , have a poo , then put hair up , brush teeth , flannel face , put clothes on , job done .

I do look like shite though Wink

TheHouseOnBellSt · 07/08/2015 21:05

Oh my. I take about 15 minutes! That's because I don't shower in the morning. I do it last thing...my hair is straightened to take out frizz at night....in the morning I have a bit of a wash of hands and face and armpits...apply deodrant....makeup takes 5 mins...hair about 2! I put mine up and am used to doing it...that's it. I also choose clothes at night.

DesertIslander · 07/08/2015 21:18

About an hour to do my bits, over 2.5 hours between getting up and leaving for work (single parent to 18mo).

Up, shower (wash hair every day, can't not) 15 mins
Prepare breakfasts and lunches, make tea/coffee 15 mins
Makeup and hair 15 mins
Get dressed, do odd jobs 15 mins

This would be the dream. In reality my toddler wakes when I do so everything takes twice as long and looks half as good :)

BeaufortBelle · 07/08/2015 21:19

I get up at 6.30. Do lots of jobs including having a cuppa for half an hour and thinking a think mnet I pack my bag before I go upstairs. Go up at 8am. Ready to leave by 8.30 or 8.40 Shower, lay out clothes, brush teeth, perfume, talc, hand and foot cream, make-up (2 mins), curling brush (2 mins), get dressed. Haireash and blow dry days take 10 mins extra hence 8.40 mornings - wash hair every third morning. Five mins for coat, shoes, pick up bags, double check and get in car. Only have 30 mins door to door.

fourtothedozen · 07/08/2015 21:52

I could be washed dressed and out the door in 20 minutes, but I like to take my time and i do other things too.

I get up at 6am and out the door at 8am
Apart from helping the kids I
have coffee
shower
dress
make up
hair dried if needed
check emails, news, weather
feed cats and change litter tray
put on laundry
eat breakfast ( kids don't eat breakfast so that's great)
empty dishwasher
take something to defrost out of the freezer for dinner
take out rubbish tidy kitchen and put stuff in dishwasher

MrsBertMacklin · 07/08/2015 22:02

5 minutes in the shower (I use a cleansing conditioner, so only wash/rinse hair once)
5 more minutes in bathroom cleaning teeth, drying off, moisturising, deodorant.
10 minutes to drink a glass of water, eat some yoghurt, feed/pet the cat, gather my thoughts while moisturiser etc is sinking in.
5 minutes to curl eyelashes, put on base, mascara and bronzer
5 minutes to dress - extra 5 minutes needed if I've been lazy and not put away laundry / chosen clothes the night before
5 minutes to rough dry hair with a diffuser.
5 minutes to water plants and bag up rubbish
5 minutes to do a final wee/keys/phone/not locked the cat in a cupboard check.

2 things that have made a drastic difference in time needed: giving in to having wavy hair, not being arsed with full on eye colour, blusher etc. for work.

TimeforaDietCoke · 07/08/2015 22:09

I take an hour too if I'm washing my hair: 10 mins shower, 10 mins make up, 20 mins blow dry hair, 5 mins teeth, 10 mins get dressed, 5 mins grab bag, last minute loo trip etc

I suspect this is about to change dramatically as DC1 is due in a week Shock

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 07/08/2015 22:19

I take about 1.5 hours me plus kids. Not sure just me because my hair is almost dry when I start drying it.

What leaps out is it takes you ages to get dressed. Should be 5 min max. Also, what make up are you doing? Do you enjoy that cos it is long too. Smile

crustsaway · 07/08/2015 22:22

2 hours! it takes me an hour to get into gear these day. I have to have 2 cups of coffee on my back step and wake up before I even think of bringing the day in.

blueshoes · 07/08/2015 22:58

20 mins, including make up and nice work clothes. I don't do anything to my hair besides comb it. I decide what I want to wear on the morning itself depending on the weather and how I am feeling.

I shower at night to save time and avoid clashing with dh in the morning.

Plomino · 07/08/2015 23:03

At a push , 10 minutes . Get up, get dressed , get out . Clothes are only for driving the 100 mile commute in , uniform stays at work . Up at 0430 hrs , out by 0440, drive to work , there by 0635 , iron work shirt , jump in shower , comb hair , ready to go for 0700 . Sorted .

OTheHugeManatee · 07/08/2015 23:07

I take about 50 minutes, but if I skipped breakfast I could hack 20 minutes off that. I like my time zoned out with coffee and toast and the news though, so set my alarm early enough to have time for it.

MadeMan · 07/08/2015 23:16

I get out of bed at half past ten, phone up a friend who's a party animal.
