This is excluding getting children ready. Just you, from shower to hair, makeup (if you wear it) etc - especially if you work. I feel that I take too long. Seems to be about an hour and a bit and I am always rushing. My routine is something like this:

Up, shower, brush teeth (10-15m)
Choose clothes and get dressed (15m ish)
Make a coffee, drink whilst doing makeup (20m)
Dry / style hair (20m)
Run about looking for things and trying to leave (10m)

Where am I going wrong?! Always late and don't want to get up earlier!

35mins max, but that usually includes unloading / loading the dishwasher, sorting some (clothes) washing and putting a wash on, having breakfast, as well as washing and dressing.

MNpostingbot · 07/08/2015 15:04

Showered,
teeth brushed,
shave,
put product in hair,
get dressed,
Pack kids nursery bags
Pack my packed lunch (make sandwiches night before)
Make coffee for travel mug
Sort - change nappy, clean teeth etc and dress children (2yo and 4yo (I know you said excluding children, but I'm showing off)
And achieve all of this whilst keeping both kids safe / amused.....

Takes me at most 30 mins, can do it in 15-20 if I need to.

It's so much easier being male in getting ready terms!
although to be fair my makeup can look a little slapdash some days

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 07/08/2015 15:12

Bath and wash hair every night and get out clothes/jewellery/work stuff.

Without dc....
Up at 6.50, make coffee, feed cat.
Wash self, style hair (either straighteners, curling tongs or put up).
Get dressed.
Make up on.
Jewellery on.
Brush teeth.
Leave house at 7.45...so 55 minutes.

In reality its longer as I make breakfast for dd and organise her lunch etc.

temperato · 07/08/2015 15:21

Depends on whether it's a hair wash day or not.

If it's not, about 20 mins to shower, get dressed, do make up.

If I'm washing hair then it's nearer an hour - shower takes longer and then about 30 mins to dry hair (have frizzy / curly hair which I tame with the babyliss big hair, but it takes time.)

WhatWouldBlairWaldorfDo · 07/08/2015 15:28

Up at 6.30, leave house at 7.10am

Shower / hair wash night before
Vague idea of what i'll wear.

Get up / wee / Brush teeth
Straighten / curl hair
Make up on
Get dressed
Have half a cuppa
Moan with dp about how early it is
In car and off

Sunbeam18 · 07/08/2015 15:36

You are all so fast! It takes me at least an hour to just do shower, hair wash, hair dry, make up and clothes on (and that's with clothes looked out). My hair takes at least 15 mins to dry with a hairdryer! How can make up be done in 5 mins!? Shock

Fluffyears · 07/08/2015 16:05

Shower and brush teeth-15 mins, dress 2 minutes then blast hair dry and brush 5 minutes (naturally fine and straight so dries fast) grab stuff and go. I put my bag and lunch together the night before and have my shoes just behind door. I couldn't not have a morning shower I'd feel rank all day.

googoodolly · 07/08/2015 16:39

I'm up at 5am, leave at 5.30. 5.35 at the latest.

We don't have a shower, so I have a bath and straighten my hair the night before. So, once my alarm goes off, my routine is:

5am - get up, pee, put the kettle on.
5.05 - wash face, make coffee, do make-up.
5.15 - get changed, drink coffee, style hair.
5.25 - brush teeth, feed cats, grab keys.
5.30-35 - stop cats escaping and go.

Kayakwonder · 07/08/2015 16:50

Up at 6, leave at 7am.

Posters who said you eat breakfast at work, do you mean you get to the office early enough to do this before starting work? My boss wouldn't be happy if I was eating while 'on the clock', perhaps that's unusual though.

SuperFlyHigh · 07/08/2015 17:01

i take an 40 or 50 minutes, however this includes leisurely shower, feeding cat etc..

best advice is to pick out outfit night before.

make sure everything you want/need is nearby or tidy. so the stuff you have trouble looking for ensure it has a home. if you struggle to leave on time is it you or children dawdling?

trollkonor · 07/08/2015 17:15

Kayak

In most offices I've worked in its aceptable to eat brekkie at your desk. At my last contract the rule seemed to be that you get in, turn on pc, join colleagues for the porrige and coffee making.

QforCucumber · 07/08/2015 17:18

Mine is pretty much the same as troll as long as we are in the office for 8am anything goes, the first 20 minutes are usually made up of toast, kettle boiling, making tea/coffee. 4 person office in the construction industry very laid back.

Mamadothehump · 07/08/2015 17:19

Up, showered, breakfast, make up, teeth, dressed, in that order 30 mins. If however, I am getting ready for a night out, I like to mooch and drink wine so it's more like 1.5 hours!!

toffeeboffin · 07/08/2015 17:26

It takes me around 40 mins.

Get up, take quick shower. Make up and hair, dressed. Breakfast and coffee.

Tips to save time: pick clothes night before. Boil kettle, prep breakfast before shower. (I like cold toast) Drink coffee whilst doing make up.

Manage to dress, watch and feed DS whilst doing all this. Sticking him in front of a cartoon for half an hour does the trick.

YeOldeTrout · 07/08/2015 17:29

Usually 25 minutes but I've done it in 10. Mouthwash, throw clothes on, no slap, no shower, brush my hair & gather my bag (packed night before). Off to the train.

If I have to get kids ready for school then I start about 5 minutes before they need to get up (do stuff night before where possible).

MillieMoodle · 07/08/2015 17:44

Having read through this, I think I'm super slow Blush
Up at 6am, take DS downstairs, make his breakfast and me a cup of tea. Make lunches for me, DH and DS. Sometimes iron the bits we need to wear. DH leaves around 6.45. Then toilet, brush teeth, shower, get dressed, help DS get dressed, feed bunnies, help DS brush teeth. Sometimes I hang the washing out. Very rarely have time to dry hair or put make up on. We're out the door by 8am on a good day. Think I need to get a move on!

trollkonor · 07/08/2015 17:52

Millie were the same, up at 6am and none of us needing to leave before 8.

I used to let the kids sleep in as long as possible but we're all so useless in the morning that we worked out we were better off getting uo early and chilling on the sofa and become more human.

I get up at 6 and make packed lunches whilst my tea brews. My husband does all the shirt ironing at the same time. Then we shout at the kid around 6.20, they come down and flop on the sofa. Dp and me drink tea and watch breakfast tv. We all then have little spurts of energy to shower etc with more flopping time inbetween.

DiscoMoo · 07/08/2015 17:57

It takes me 20 minutes from getting out of bed to leaving the house. Shower every morning (hair is washed in the evening after exercise). Teeth, toilet etc. straighten hair. Make up is eyeshadow, eyeliner and blusher. Clothes are pre-ironed so just grab and pull on. Grab lunch, laptop bag and out the door. I even find time for a couple of minutes cuddling with DP!

Sallystyle · 07/08/2015 18:00

This week I have been waking up at 5.30 and leaving the house at 7.15am

I like having time to take wake up slowly but it is killing me. I am so tired.

Next week I have to start work at 7.30 am and do 12.5 hour shifts so I need to get out of the habit of spending so long waking up. This is all new to me. I need to accept that if I don't want to be constantly bone tired waking up slowly with MN and caffeine has to stop.

Murfles · 07/08/2015 18:12

Up at 5.30. Shower, get dressed, dry hair, put make up on (I wear full make up every day which takes me around 45 minutes to do) Have a cup of hot water (don't drink tea or coffee). Quickly check work emails and leave the house at 7am. I get into work at 7.45.

Me624 · 07/08/2015 18:13

My alarm goes off one hour and five minutes before I have to leave the house. I only wash my hair every other day. On hair wash day, I hit the alarm for one 10 minute snooze, then shower and get ready in around 45 minutes, leaving 10 minutes for a quick slice of toast or crumpet for breakfast. If I'm not washing my hair, I have a couple more snoozes and getting ready only takes about 20 minutes.

Sometimes I overrun though and have to skip breakfast and grab something on my way to work. It depends how much I faff around with make up etc - sometimes I'll notice a stray hair in the mirror and then end up spending 10 minutes tweezing my eyebrows, then realise I've only got 5 minutes until I have to leave and am not dressed yet Blush

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 07/08/2015 18:17

Shower, wash hair, get dressed, out the door - about 10 mins

Alarm goes off at 5.45 but I tend to ignore it until about 8.00!

20 mins but I'm a scruff. Grin I'd love to be one of those groomed, polished types but really I just cannot be arsed.

StellaAlpina · 07/08/2015 19:01

1.5h! I am slooow

6.15 get up, coffee and read the paper on the net for 15mins
6.40ish have breakfast cornflakes/porridge/toast and a glass of juice
7ish make my lunch, usually salad or a roll and some fruitget
7.10 have quick bath
7.25ish dressed from capsule wardrobe of work clothes, do hair, no make up.
7.45ish leave house.

I usually get to the office dead on 9, I might start waking up at 6 so I don't feel rushed/get in at 8.45ish and check all my emails and have a tea before 9.
