To ask how often you get your windows cleaned?

Moved to our house 2.5 years ago, one wedding and 2 babies later I still haven't got round to engaging a window cleaner.
DH has done it once I think, I've cleaned them a little from what I can reach from the inside. They don't look very dirty at all considering!

However I would like to engage a window cleaner but money is tight. Can you just ask them to come round as a one off? I was thinking they probably only need doing several times a year. My parents get theirs done once every 6 weeks but they have lots of trees around their house and are forever getting bird poo on their windows. I don't think we've ever had any! Thoughts?

Every 2 weeks.

Annunziata · 01/08/2015 12:19

Every two weeks, but I only do the insides once a month now.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 01/08/2015 12:20

Best thing to do is ask your neighbours who they use and ask them to do them as a trial. We had a window cleaner for about 6 months, till financially we couldn't commit to the 5weekly clean. He said if we ever want them doing as a one off to just ask when he is at my neighbours on his rounds.

GobblersKnob · 01/08/2015 12:21

Used to be fortnightly, then cancelled as some stuff kept going missing from alleyway/garden Hmm

Have probably done them myself about 4 times in the last two years, they look fine.

backtowork2015 · 01/08/2015 12:21

we have a guy from a franchise company do ours every 6-8 wks but he stays on the ground and has a hose and squeegy on an extendable pole which makes it a cheaper job. if I don't want them done he misses me out and asks the next time...so 12wks. its £16 for whole 3 storey house, 11 windows I think. company is called ideal window cleaning ir something similar. highly recommend

Suddengeekgirl · 01/08/2015 12:23

We have live here for 2.5 years and had them done twice.

I've just asked the neighbour's regular window cleaner when he's doing theirs. He's asked if I want them doing regularly and I've always said thanks but no thanks. He's been fine with that.

WorraLiberty · 01/08/2015 12:23

Once per fortnight

Mine charge £5 for 4 front windows and the front door.

They'll do a one off but they charge double.

dougieroseagain · 01/08/2015 12:28

Once every 4 weeks.

Mine charges £15 just to clean the front - 5 windows Hmm Shock

ArseForElbow · 01/08/2015 12:29

Every 4 weeks, £5 for front and back.

greenfolder · 01/08/2015 12:30

About 5 years ago. Having found a decent one my dh moaned that they hadn't done one window properly and he could do better himself. 5 years on still no sign of them being cleaned. Rain does a decent job.

PumpkinPie2013 · 01/08/2015 12:32

We have a man who comes and does them every six weeks - we live rurally, have a lot of windows and some are quite difficult to reach so I don't think anyone would want to come more often.

That seems to keep them clean but we are nowhere near any road or anything so no dirt from that.

We do inside once a month - again this seems to be enough.

Sazzle41 · 01/08/2015 12:33

Once a month outside, every 2 weeks inside, but its London, they seem to get dirty quicker here in the city. In the countryside when i was in the Midlands they never looked dirty tbh so still once a month outside and then once month inside.

SocksRock · 01/08/2015 12:34

Every 5-6 weeks, £13 for front and back - 5 windows and a door on the front, side door and toilet on the side, three windows patio door and back door at the back plus two skylights in the single storey bit. I always make him a cuppa with biscuits and let him use the loo though :-)

mrsdavidbowie · 01/08/2015 12:34

I have never cleaned some of mine in 12 years Smile

Mulligrubs · 01/08/2015 12:36

Every 4 weeks (only recently managed to find a local window cleaner after being here a year!) and costs £12 which I think is good as it's a 3 storey house.

ribbitTheFrog · 01/08/2015 12:36

Once per year.

Mine charges £4.50,front,back and both doors.

hiddenhome · 01/08/2015 12:39

Once a fortnight. Charges a fiver.

TooMuchRain · 01/08/2015 12:39

Every other month for the front but could do with making it more often. The top back ones haven't been done for 18 months because they are difficult to get to.

tictactoad · 01/08/2015 12:42

Every couple of years or so whether they need it or not.

ghostyslovesheep · 01/08/2015 12:43

once a month - 4 front windows, 1 side, 2 double patio doors and 2 upstairs windows - £8

GoooRooo · 01/08/2015 12:44

Once a month. Three large front windows and door, 2 side windows, 3 large rear windows (3 bed semi). £17.

grapejuicerocks · 01/08/2015 12:45

At £15 I got fed up paying for every month. Now I've found one who'll do it summer months only.

mintpoppet · 01/08/2015 12:47

Once a fortnight folk? Why? I get mine done 1-2 x per year and they are genuinely fine.
