Going out for a meal whilst on sick leave?

I was invited out for lunch this week with a relative who I rarely see. She knows I've been unwell and will be picking me up, so I don't need to drive. It's nothing fancy but it is in a nice restaurant and I'll probably be out of the house for a few hours.

I mentioned it to a friend who was shocked that I am going, said it's "naughty". I am now doubting myself and feeling guilty. WIBU to go out for this meal whilst on sick leave?

It's easy enough to believe that sort if thing until you actually end up in a situation where you realise how wrong it is. Good for your dad never having a day sick. I've been off for over 2 years. At my best I have been able to drive a mile to the village shop perhaps once a month so would have been able to redeem a lottery ticket, I've also been taken out for lunch once and afternoon tea maybe 3 times. Today I could barely manage up and down the flight of stairs to my flat to get to my bin. People don't seem to realise that there are illnesses that you just cannot ignore and push through (I did try at the beginning, it backfired badly).

Hi am currently of sick with depression lot things happen in my life now just stuck in house due to being told I not able to socialise as of sick I am getting help now with doctor and counciling am I allowed to go out as this is causing more stress live on my own as I lost my husband last year not coping

A few years ago myself and a few other members of our dept were signed off with stress (big bullying case) we would go for walks/ eat lunch etc.

Why not? We weren't physically ill but mentally damaged by working for a psycho
