Yep. It's that time of year again.
Hordes of women to be seen walking around, sporting shapeless tat that they've been 'lucky' enough to pick up in the Next Sale.
All looking like identical victims of an explosion in a paint factory.

Aibu to think that, this year especially, even the quality and colours of the clothes in the supermarkets is far superior than those found in Next.

I have never bought anything from Joules or Boden.

ouryve · 24/07/2015 18:55

The quality really isn't what it used to be. I've picked up some good jeans for DS1, though. They're the only place that really caters well for slim, leggy pre-teen and teen boys who aren't yet into adult sizes. I prefer landsend for tops for him though. Way cheaper and much better quality.

Next are their own worst enemy - they try to be all things to all people and as a result produce a catalogue which is 99% rubbish. If you have the patience you can occasionally find well fitting100% wool trousers or crepe dresses at a fraction of the price you'd pay in Reiss or Hobbs, but you do have to trawl through a lot of polyester.

I'd rather pull my teeth out with pliers than brave the next sale, but I can think of far worse mid range high street stores and their year round swim wear is some of the best on the high street IMO.

I like it and I'm not frumpy Confused
Today I had on their relaxed skinnys and a v neck red and grey striped t shirt.
Nobody laughed in my face.

DowntownFunk · 24/07/2015 19:05

I prefer H&M for my DDs' clothes. H&M tshirts last really well.

wigglesrock · 24/07/2015 19:24

cocolepew snap Shock , although my tee shirt is navy and grey - are we doomed? Will be banished to the back of the class for crimes against MN fashion?

Cocolepew · 24/07/2015 19:39

Oh Im a liar it is navy and grey, I also have it in red and white.

We're made of sterner stuff over here wiggles. Obviously more stylish too Wink

The bra sale in NEXT is absolutely fantastic! I went in last year and got 4 really good quality bras for £20. I have big boobs so it's quite hard to find my size in other shops. Same this year 4 really pretty bras for less than £20. Brilliant.

ijustwannadance · 24/07/2015 20:25

The kids clothes are exactly the same every year. Autumn/Winter girls always has pale pink/grey, biege(ecru), monochrome, bright clashing. Same designs just rehashed every time. Same coats, same party dresses etc. Boys stuff with monkeys on. Matalan blatantly copy them even down to the little heart on label. Even supermarket kids clothes have started becoming more like next in design.

jenenberry · 24/07/2015 20:33

At least they've stopped doing those silly little bows on the t shirts, with a hole next to it.
What was the point of that hole? Confused

I quite like next

jenenberry · 26/07/2015 18:18

Went in with a friend today.
Still didn't see anything I liked. Neither did she.

Also, their clothes are too instantly recognisable hundreds of other women wearing the same thing
It's off putting.

Does the vanity sizing only apply to small sizes? I am larger and have to buy a bigger size in Next than anywhere else I shop...
