Yep. It's that time of year again.
Hordes of women to be seen walking around, sporting shapeless tat that they've been 'lucky' enough to pick up in the Next Sale.
All looking like identical victims of an explosion in a paint factory.

Aibu to think that, this year especially, even the quality and colours of the clothes in the supermarkets is far superior than those found in Next.

I bought some lovely shoes for me but did well for ds, t shirts and jumpers for half price. paid £5.50 for pack of four t shirts. I had a vip slot though so that helped, a lot of stuff like pjs had already gone.

Sparklingbrook · 24/07/2015 07:52

Next are good for greetings cards and everyday perfume. Smile

Rivercam · 24/07/2015 07:52

I bought some some cardigans for work. When I tried them on, there was no shape to them.

The men's sale was okay. I got some good shirts for dh.

Kids stuff looked good, although my do are to big for shop sizes now ( Internet do bigger)

Next school trousers are the best, although you can only buy online now.

ladyflower23 · 24/07/2015 07:54

That happened to me too sparkling. I just refused to pay for it and haven and heard from them since the first threatening letter. They've probably destroyed my credit rating without me knowing Angry

ChilliAndMint · 24/07/2015 07:58

Sad really...Next were ground breaking in their hay day.

sakura · 24/07/2015 08:01

yanbu.

I love next, but idk. The quality is always good, to be fair, but it's just the designs this summer. WTH?
Shapeless stuff.

Sparklingbrook · 24/07/2015 08:03

I got a refund lady. Who needs a massive hardback catalogue these days? Confused There was a separate 'Home' one too full of twee stuff for the house.

Littlecaf · 24/07/2015 08:06

I used to like Next for work stuff, but this summer I have walked in twice and walked straight back out again. Some of their tops and patterns are just awful. So disappointed

echt · 24/07/2015 08:13

I remember when Next was invented, a byword for style and quality. It had gone rapidly downhill when I left the UK ten years ago.

TheGreatAndPowerfulTrixie · 24/07/2015 08:20

I'm a short arse (5'1") so I used to buy a lot of trousers in their Petite range. About 5 years ago they increased the length so I either have to turn them up or wear heels (and still turn them up) which makes them look stupid and I'm quite happy in trainers with 2 children to play with. I don't bother anymore.

PianoCat · 24/07/2015 08:34

I have completely gone of next for anything other than plain basics - if you happen upon a nice top you can guarantee that you will meet someone wearing the same top every time you wear it. I like the little children's clothes but a lot of the clothes aimed at preteens are too grown up IMO.

Chunkymonkey79 · 24/07/2015 08:37

Hate their ladies clothes, frumpy, ugly and shapeless.

Baby clothes are lovely though.

ScoutRifle · 24/07/2015 08:41

Went once...never again!

RealityCheque · 24/07/2015 08:43

I think there time as a retailer is limited. Full of absolute overpriced shite.

I used to get almost everything in Next but don't even bother going in these days, it's horrible, cheap quality but expensive.

I didn't know they still did the directory....I used to get quite excited when the new one arrived Blush

Orangeanddemons · 24/07/2015 08:49

I've said this before. Next is identical to Matalan at double the price. It's shite. I never ever see anything I want to buy there. Unfortunately for some unknown reason it continues to make a profit, so I don't think it's on it's way out

dedee · 24/07/2015 08:50

I also ordered branded stuff online
Adidas , Sam Edelman Gigis, Converse, Nike

YouBastardSockBalls · 24/07/2015 08:50

I get all the children's stuff there as it's the best quality I've found and it is generally nice and not too pinky sparkly.
I got loaaaads in the sale, but turned up and 9am and was just lucky that there was loads left. The assistant said there'd hardly been a queue this year.

Agree about the women's stuff though....

FurtherSupport · 24/07/2015 08:50

Men's and kids clothes still seem ok though Confused

londonrach · 24/07/2015 08:51

Popped my head in yesterday. Popped out with 2 minutes. Do people seriously buy those clothes. Popped into joules. A top i liked was reduced from 35 to 17.50 but time i got to till it was 12.00. Very pleased.

jenenberry · 24/07/2015 08:52

So true that they've forgotten that women have waists.
All their tops are too wide, boxy shaped and shapeless.

I only saw one top in the whole shop that had some semblance of shape to it, and they had spoilt it by having pineapples and stupid writing on it.

Crinkle77 · 24/07/2015 08:54

Yes I agree it's awful. We have a retial by near us and I just popped in on the off chance to see if I could get anything for a wedding. Next was terrible just rows and rows of t-shirts and casual wear. M&S was terrible too. Loads of clothes made out of that horrible cheap jersey type material.

Crinkle77 · 24/07/2015 08:54

Sorry meant to say retail park

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 24/07/2015 08:55

Another fan of their children's clothes. DS (4) is very tall and skinny and their trousers are the only ones that ever fit him properly. Those waste bands that you can button up are perfect. If I buy trousers from anywhere else, he seems to outgrow the length before he ever fits into the waste!

Never braved a sale and never bought myself anything from there though.
