To not understand why people rave about Aldi.....

When, IMO it sells cheap, nasty, horrible food! I'm usually a Tesco shopper but I thought last month i'd try Aldi out, and to say I was disappointed was an understatement!

The fruit, yes was cheaper but it is also smaller in quantities and the raspberrys, strawberrys and blueberries looked mouldy and soft. The meat, especially the chicken was extremely fatty and the mince actually looked off and was a nasty grey colour! The tinned stuff was tasteless, the curry sauces were overloaded with too much spice and cheap ingredients and the chocolate was disgusting, so Aibu to not get why everyone goes mad for the place?.....

Aldi has super cheap chocolate brioche! What's not to love?

It's not the best supermarket ever, but it's cheaper than tesco basics for similar/sometimes better quality, and that suits us because we can't afford top end food anyway.

I am a bit dubious about some of their products. Meat is best frozen on the day you buy. The shelf life of everything tends not to be as long so it doesn't really suit a massive bulk shop imo, 2 trips a week is better.

I haven't been to Aldi in a few months but their fruit and veg always used to have a best before date? Admittedly it's like a hidden code but unless they've changed it, it'll have the week number and the day of the week which it's best before. For eg, today would be 2906 or 0629 iyswim

I've tried to like Aldi, some friends and colleagues rave about it. I'm always hearing/reading about continental meats, cheeses etc, stuff I really love. But I never find anything like this when I go in.
I don't get the random weird stuff like gardening tool, sleeping bags, etc plonked in the middle of the shop. The Aldi near me seems to sell more of this than actual food.
