Steve Wright? Serious Jockin' ???

I've not posted here before but Steve Wright is driving me absolutely bonkers with his 'serious Jockin''. His regular programme is bad enough but now we are subjected to mentions every bloomin' day about his bloomin' Friday programme. Is this really the best the BBC can do for the Licence payer during prime-time listening?

Steve Wright hasn't really evolved since the 1980s but instead of Mr Mad we have The Old Woman. I guess that some fortysomethings will enjoy tuning in and being reminded of listening to the show as teenagers when it was fresh, unusual and irreverent.

I found some old cassettes the other day that I'd used for taping songs from the radio. A particular song was ruined by Steve talking about nudist beaches at the start of it! I also recall that he proposed to his wife on air in the '80s but I missed that.

He used to hate Depeche Mode and was vocal about it.

Can't believe this crappy ' serious jockin " crap is 2 years old. Can't bear him and his team ( although I liked the old lady - i don't listen any more though, is she still on? )

As for Patrick Kielty - I want to kill him! He sounds so out of his comfort zone - I reckon I could do a better job! Or Alan Partridge!

I also can't beat Simon Mayos male sidekick who tries far too hard ( and is a bit shouty) , or The guy with Chris Evans. So annoying.

I find Sarah Cox a breath of fresh air though( although I never thought I would say it!) and quite like Zoe Ball too.

I only listen to Radio 2 when subjected to it by family ... give me Spotify any day!!

He SO needs to be put out to pasture! Why they haven't binned him long ago, I have no idea. I like the music he plays, but can't bear listening to him between records. Witter, witter, witter! And while I quite enjoy Sara Cox replacing him for holidays, I don't know if she wouldn't get annoying too after a short while. And definitely no Lisa Tarbuck please!

And yes bin stupid Jeremy and replace with Vanessa! She's much more genuine and interested in what people say. Vine is only interested in what he himself says.

I really can't bear Radio 2. 6 Music is so much better.
The absolute worst show is Steve Wright, followed closely behind by Simon Mayo and his god awful sidekick Matt.

I turn him off. Every Friday - ridiculous man.
Sadly the old lady died recently and I don't mind the rest of his team but SW himself is beyond irritating.
I'm not keen on Ken Bruce either.
Love Chris Evans, Sarah Cox, Jeremy Vine (apart from shouty guests), don't mind Simon Mayo at all but it really is time they had a bit of a clear out at R2

I'm quite fond of Wrighty, it's all a bit old school but it charms in small doses. Michael Ball is fucking appalling.

The 'Serious Jockin'' phrase makes me cringe so I can't have him on for more than three minutes without wretching. A shame, because I quite like the features and his crew.

I still haven't found an adequate replacement for Terry Wogan in the mornings. I tried them all. Evans, too egotistical, Heart had too much vapid celebrity chat and Absolute can be a bit 'alpha male' in the mornings but I do pop back to it from time to time. LBC had too many political headbangers and I'm not really sure where I should go from here lol.

I should totally get DAB installed in my car :/

Nope. This 40 something listens to Rad Mac on 6 music.

For a PP re Chris Moyles, he's been back on radio for about two years now. On Radio X breakfast show, with Dom! Radio X is digital only except for on fm London ( and maybe Birmingham?). I listened in on DAB for ages then changed my car, which doesn't have DAB.

Getting used to Evans now but I'd rather listen to Moyles.

Ken The Bruce is the best person on radio 2!

How on earth is Steve Wright still on the radio 6 days a week?! Both shows are utter drivel and mainly consist of him and his side-kicks reading out internet surveys or other useless 'factoids'. Get him off NOW! Utter rubbish. Put him and that annoying Evans out to grass together please. As an earlier poster said, Wright in particular must have some serious dirt on a BBC bigwig to still be on air with that load of tosh.

Sara Cox on after him is equally as bad.
She does this stupid fake voice when on radio but when she is on the television she speaks perfectly normal...

Hate that show. All its stupid in-jokes. And the pointless hangers on. Just ghastly.
And hate SW himself. Over-rated and overpaid. And obnoxious to boot.
He hasn’t done anything original in decades. He was annoying when he started and he’s continued being annoying ever since.

As for his Sunday show, with at least 50% of the letters gushing about how much they love the show. Yeah, right.

He knows where the bodies are buried, that’s for sure.

I turned over to Radio 3 today after DH left the car radio tuned in to R2.
Love Ken Bruce though.
