Steve Wright? Serious Jockin' ???

I've not posted here before but Steve Wright is driving me absolutely bonkers with his 'serious Jockin''. His regular programme is bad enough but now we are subjected to mentions every bloomin' day about his bloomin' Friday programme. Is this really the best the BBC can do for the Licence payer during prime-time listening?

I love Serious Jockin Blush Grin

It's a complete pisstake and I enjoy it for that reason. Zooming down the motorway this afternoon singing along very loudly and badly to Baltimora's 'Tarzan Boy'. Awesome.

kurlukey · 03/03/2017 14:27

Steve wright is a total prat him and his big show he constantly praises his show over and over again is utter crap and its about time he retured and take his serious jockin with him .very angry dave

Pettywoman · 03/03/2017 14:34

I listen to Ken Bruce because I bloody love Popmaster. Steve Wright is just way past his sell by date. It's the sycophantic team and cheering he's got that annoy me. Not funny, not clever just suit.

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2017 14:37

It's about time this thread 'retured'. Grin

notnowfrank · 03/03/2017 14:40

[whispers] what is serious jocking, please?

BorisJohnsonsHair · 03/03/2017 14:46

Nevercallmehun Yes, this I can't stand him. I now turn off just after the news hopefully before he says 'ta' in that annoying, smug way when taking over from Jeremy Vine

If I don't get to the radio quick enough and get to hear "ta", I usually shout "you ignorant twat" (or similar) at the radio.

Would love to see him replaced with someone decent.

Laiste · 03/03/2017 14:55

Oh christ, now i've got bloody Tarzan Boy in my head! Cheers paul.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahhhhhhahhhhhhhhhhahhhhhhhaa!

ErneyAndAgnes · 03/03/2017 15:00

My DM used to work with him, about a hundred years ago at a local radio station, and she says he was a bit of a knob back then, and still is I reckon.

PageStillNotFound404 · 03/03/2017 15:03

Not another fecking zombie thread Hmm

morningconstitutional2017 · 03/03/2017 15:07

I used to listen to Steve Wright in the old days when I was young but now he sometimes annoys me so I switch to Classic FM or Planet Rock. I dislike the way he calls it The Big Show and then reads out a request, "Love the show, Steve ..." - this comes across as self congratulation and is a bit like wanking in public - not done.
Ken Bruce is my favourite - I love his humour and listen to the Popmaster quiz every morning. If should ever retire/leave I shall have to wave Radio 2 goodbye. I cannot bear many of his replacements when he's on holiday.

FrenchLavender · 03/03/2017 15:13

I LOVE the serious jockin' (no g) feature.

You know what I do, whenever there is a show presented by someone I can't stand? I turn to 6 music or Radio 4. You should try it. It works for me. Really no need to listen to someone you can't stomach.

FrenchLavender · 03/03/2017 15:20

Oh my god, just seen that this is a zombie thread that has been revived TWICE and is now on its third incarnation. Why, just why?

Butteredpars1ps · 03/03/2017 15:21

I know it's a Zombie thread - but why is Steve Wright still on?

Serious Jockin makes my teeth itch, if I ever have the misfortune to hear it.

Agree with PP Ken Bruce reigns. I have radio 4 on after 12

HeeHighls · 03/03/2017 15:26

For a year I was travelling to Brighton from the Midlands and oh the joy of listening to Vanessa Feltz.

HeeHighls · 03/03/2017 15:28

Sorry, I neither look at the date or the poster. My mistake. Why revive it though?

The80sweregreat · 03/03/2017 16:46

He should seriously retire.

Jojoanna · 03/03/2017 22:00

Can't xtand Steve wright ,, he has been on radio ever since I was at school and I have never liked him. Why oh why does the BBC keep the same person for years on 6 days a week ,,

hellooooooomama · 03/03/2017 22:07

Wow. Has Serious Jockin' been going that long already?

ILoveDolly · 03/03/2017 22:09

I listen to R2 nearly all day but I turn off at 2pm. SW makes my skin crawl

Crispsheets · 03/03/2017 22:13

He's an attention seeking knob. "Location be the show Steve"...Listen to how many times he says it in his show.
I love Ken and Johnnie Walker who is a superb DJ..A man who knows his music.
There are some good evening shows on R2.

Crispsheets · 03/03/2017 22:14

listen to the show
Ffs

ToEarlyForDecorations · 03/03/2017 22:29

Serious jockin' is funny. Especially the people who contribute i.e. serious paintin', serious dog walkin' etc.

Steve Wright is past his sell by date. He's been on the radio for 30 years. (and the rest) It just makes me smirk that he was the popular Radio 1 DJ of the day thirty years ago.

Now he's doing the same tired old crap on his show. He repeats the phrase, 'the big show' and, 'love the show Steve' over and again like he's begging for praise. He advertises his love songs show on his day show.

I'm tired of Chris Evans too. It's any excuse for football yack. Or there's a twenty minute trailer for a film or a t.v. show. Just play the goddam records boy ! I give him a chance, listen to him making a hash of it. Then yack about his son. It makes me smile that now to him, his radio show is just a job. Wasn't he once a motor mouth DJ who wanted to be Richard Branson ?

Oldraver · 03/03/2017 22:35

Is he still whittling on about this ? Its been years since I had to listen to him and the 'jockin' got on my tits then

NecklessMumster · 03/03/2017 22:37

Always hated him, and his 'factoids'Angry

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 03/03/2017 22:39

I really miss Terry Wogan, each and every time I hear Radio 2. I am now a Radio Ulster/Radio 4 listener....Evans and Wright have lost me as a listener forever!
